Super Twinkey69 D00M. Triumvirate.	Posted - 2008.01.22 21:56:00 - [1] TriumvirateÆs (TRI) effort to conquer Providence has been beaten back by Curatores Veritatis Alliance (CVA) and its allies. The attack began just over a month ago and was aimed at the X-R3NM system where CVA had placed a cynojammer. The final battle was fought between CVAÆs (and its allies) fleet of 190 ships and TriumvirateÆs fleet of 160 ships. CVA has been involved in what it calls Operation Deliverance for a long time in Providence. The goal of the operation is to develop the region as an extension of the Amarrian Empire. TriumvirateÆs first operation against CVA was to take over the Misaba System. This system is a choke point through which traffic in Domain travels to Providence. This action crippled CVAÆs transportation and logistics networks, and began a period of guerilla warfare on the part of the Amarrian defenders to counter TriumvirateÆs efforts. Triumvirate countered by trying to force a fleet engagement by attacking X-R3NM where CVA has considerable assets including an outpost. This battle ended with heavy losses on both sides. Later, Triumvirate attacked the system again and was able to damage the systemÆs cynojammer and three of CVAÆs POSs. CVA, along with several allies, countered with a large fleet and drove Triumvirate out of the system. Finally, Triumvirate mounted a third operation against X-R3NM. Hardin, of CVA, characterized the outcome of this battle by saying it, ôclearly demonstrated to the heretics and heathens CVAÆs (and its allies) undiminished resolve to build a safe, prosperous and civilized Providence.ö After this battle Triumvirate returned to its home in the North. ôWe fought them tooth and nail and we gave them hell,ö said Garreck, CEO of Amarr Border Defence Consotrium (a CVA corporation). ôBut,ö he added, ôHaving an alliance of that power and skill leave the area, well, we were happy enough to just let them go. We had a few skirmishes as they withdrew and left it at that.ö WarGod, representing Triumvirate, stated that CVA met them with three or four other alliances, including Goonswarm. ôWe were forced to pull back our 150 û 200 man fleet from a total of around 400 hostiles,ö he said. ôLots of space distortions made even fighting out numbered, something we love doing, not even nearly possible,ö he added. When asked he said Triumvirate has no plans for further operations against CVA, at least ônot anytime soon.ö WarGod closed his remarks by saying ôwe all learned a lot from it.ö It appears that Providence is safely in CVAÆs hand for the moment, and that they can continue with Operation Deliverance. Reality of the situation in Providence is that CVA currently have a close to unbeatable number of allies down there and the will to do anything it takes to hold onto their claim. While TRI saw the war in one way, CVA saw it quite differently, and Hardin and Garreck are simply telling it from their point of view while the reporter puts a personal analysis on how it looks to an outsider. I think the price for having an active ISD player news function is that sometimes they are going to write things about our corps and alliances we may not approve of. But its much better to accept this than have a less interesting, bland and entirely sanitized game that we'd have if player news was always censored and had to be editorially cross-checked with all participants. Its the price of an active player-led dynamic in the game. I've always been a supporter of ISD news and always will be. I think the writers of those pieces deserve a lot of praise for the time and effort and I think the game of Eve would be greatly improved if there were 10x as many articles like this going live on the in-game news.
