I know the microwarp option and the other abilites on it lend towards blasters and tackling but my eventual character design tends to use rails a lot more than blasters. Would a rail deim work effectively? Or should i swap the deim for an ishtar?

There are some workable rail setups out there, but I have none off hand atm. They tend to use 200mm Railguns due to fitting constraints though. -----

You could use a Rail Deimos for missions; you'll have a great tank, good damage, a nice drone bay, and decent range.
You could also use a Rail Deimos for PvP, but with it's bonuses it would be something of a waste.
Just out of curiosity, what in your character design makes you favor rails over blasters? They're both hybrid turrets so they both require similar skills. -------------------- "I am hard pressed on my right; my centre is giving way; situation excellent; I am attacking." - Ferdinand Foch at the Battle of the Marne |

My next ship is an Eos with full fleet command behind it. That things a rail boat while the Astarte is a blaster boat. Easier to compliment.

Gotcha. Training up T2 Blasters wouldn't take too long, but I can understand where you're coming from. -------------------- "I am hard pressed on my right; my centre is giving way; situation excellent; I am attacking." - Ferdinand Foch at the Battle of the Marne |

Probably wouldnt i only need a few skill levels but i wonder if it isnt easier to go for the rail spec and save me time on the Eos the thing being i dont know if its effective with the deim. Hence the reason for this topic.

Rail deimos is a decent ship in fast HAC gangs.

It doesn't really take that long to slog through medium blaster specialization. After you get done training up for your EOS, it couldn't hurt to train up through the blaster specializations. Killing is business and business is good. |

Personally I'd never put rails on any gallente PvP build cept one with a damp bonus, or a sniping BS. HERETIC! --

Every so often, you see a Deimos flying around with 200mm rails. But 250s on an Astarte might be more common.
The rail Deimos is a rare breed in the wild, I've only tried it a couple of times myself. Personally, unless you have clear focus of what you intend to do, and a lot of experience to go with it, leave the mid-range HAC philosophy to the Zealot. Fit blasters to the Deimos, conform, obey, know the glorious splat!

I'm not a Deimos pilot but I had a friend who was and to get range out of his he used 5x Neutron II's with Null and used a falloff rig. I believe he said he got something like 30k of falloff. My memory is not great so I am not 100% it was 30k. I also know there is a difference between falloff and optimal.
