Why is it so easy killing mission runners? When they take lvl 3 agents they always end up in about 0.4 sec systems so if your a team of 2 the mission runner has no chance.
and why is the payout from the agent so low in such a huge risk? |

Mission running setups place emphasis on different qualities than PvP setups. For example, mission ships favor cap recharge over cap boosters and capacity, and resists and rep rate over HP, so are especially vulnerable to NOS/Neut attacks, and while they often have extremely strong active tanks, once deprived of capacitor they can be shredded pretty quickly.
Mission ships rarely mount any form of EW mods, although they tend to mount counters to whatever EW the rats favor (most of my anti-guri setups involve some form of ECCM for example) and since in many higher level missions the common tactic is to sit there and snipe, most missions ships are much slower and less maneuverable than a comparative PvP setup (since MWD is useless in most missions)
The only edge mission ships sometimes have is they are often mount more damage mods, maximizing damage, more than one pirate has gotten*****y and fallen victim to the massive damage output some mission ships are capable of, although an intelligent pirate should find more than enough weaknesses to exploit.

Do your research before you choose an agent.. Make sure he has no low sec within 6ish jumps. Low sec missiosn aren't worth it as you can't fit *really* good gear to speed up missions. _______________________________________________ Minmatar will always go faster than you, get over it. |

Actually AFAIK most "vanilla" PvE setups (for ravens for example) do not involve any counter EW setups.
Unless they fixed it in trinity (and I'm pretty sure they haven't), NPC's do not follow the same rules for jamming as players. Meaning, NPC always have a particular chance to jam you, regardless of your mods (part of the reason people have classified marauders as a "PVE" ship).
That being said, if you are not emotionally of financially ready to run missions in low sec, spend a little bit of time doing research about combat agents. Find several agents close together about 2+ jumps from nearest low sec system (agents rarely send you out farther than that). This way, though you may miss out on the more lucrative agents, you will improve your safety margin.

Quote: Why is it so easy killing mission runners?
Because they fit for PvE rather than PvP. They have no Ewar or propulsion jamming of their own, and no counter to it either.
Plus their tank and gank are usually carefully calibrated to a specific damage type.
Killing mission runners should be like shooting fish in a barrel for any remotely competent pirate. At worst, you warp away.

Edited by: Raskor on 27/01/2008 04:56:11 Or you can do a little more research...
And find combat agents that have no 0.4 or below systems in that constellation. I have never been sent to another constellation for a combat mission.
However, if your combat agent gives you a courier mission, that very well could require travel to a different constellation and potentially low sec.

There's a wasted use of a slot.
NPC EW cannot be countered. Fit something more useful. -- (Battle hardened industrialist)

Terrible advice. Mission runners do missions to earn ISK, fighting pirates is NOT an ISK earning activity. Best bet: just don't go there. Heavy dictors mean you're not likely to haul your goodies out anyway. The only way to win vs. prats is to starve them out.
Moreover, if you mission in cheap T1 gear it'll take you far longer to finish the missions. With no way to cash out of LP these days it's just Not Worth defending lowsec space. Not by a long shot.
