Korlanth	Posted - 2008.02.01 08:14:00 - [1] I've been using the game for awhile now and it has been working fine. However, now i'm having problems starting the game. When I click on the EVE shortcut I get the first EVE screen like the game is about the load...however... The game never starts up after that initial image. It simply stays minimized at the bottom and the music plays in the background. When I click on the minimized icon at the bottom, nothing happens... Can anyone help?

Kriigern	Posted - 2008.02.02 02:47:00 - [3] I got the same issue here. Tried installing, and patching, and tried installing game to different directories, but so far no good. I remember seeing a wierd screen frame on the client last time i played, like if it was changed to windowed mode ;)

At the same time, too. somethings tells me CCP should re-code trinity Reading these post's sounds like it was better off not changing just yet just a few Graphics updates, the other System updates seem to have caused more problems then they have solved, and Drone bandwidth on the myrm FTW WHY WOULD U CHANGE THAT!!!!!!! only thing that made the myrm battle worthy! or mish running capable sorry needed to vent my absolute hatred!
Brainless Bimbo	Posted - 2008.02.02 19:19:00 - [5] Had exactly the same thing happen to me not 15 mins ago.... not usual type stuff so came here to see if known issue, this thread started me thinking so.... Started the game in SAFE MODE, client loaded and i changed the graphic settings back to Full Screen. Client loaded nicely :) Yes, as an earlier poster has mentioned as well, i too saw the windowed bar for a split sec at the top of the screen, so somehow the client switched to "windowed mode" all by its self, the game was loading correctly as i could see that in the game log and RAM useage.

After that i got Sync. out of range message cos of monitor refreshrate or something, so i pressed ALT + Enter again to enter widow mode and tadaa its working again. I hope that helps.

Omg thank you so much, ive been trying absolutly everything diffferent clients updating drivers, everything i could think of except reformatting but this just fixed it in a second lol. No-idea what this bug is but my screen graphics went crazy when i started a 2nd client and i lagged to hell then this bug started happening whenever i tried to start up a new client. Although test server would run fine when i xfered my backup clients or reinstalled it had the same problem. Crazy bug.

I made the mistake of closing the app, and ran it again. Then all I got was the entry in the taskbar with an invisible window stuck in the top left corner (as in I could move it around with the move option on the taskbar, but no actual window there). Alt-Enter sorted it for me, but still very strange why it should decide to do that. ___ "If you can't debate using logic & fact, and at least recognise other people's point of view, don't waste time posting on forums. Cassadar Kane	Posted - 2008.03.05 16:44:00 - [13] i can't start the premium and the safe mode client. what happens... i start the game, the eve image shows up, then nothing happens. the eve client stays minimized and i can't maximize it and i don't hear any ingame music and sounds. alt plus enter solution doesn't work. eve launcher solution doesn't help. reinstallation and a second client installation into another folder didn't help. newest grafic card drivers for my nvidia 6800 gt card (original driver and omega driver) didn't help.

I tried all the solution suggestions such like deleting the pc.dat, eve-launcher, classic version, safe-mode and so on. I`ve searched a bit through the forum and it seems that the problem exists since 3 months when Trinity was released. And now the bug still exists, looks like CCP hadn`t worked on it, coz here r no official solutions from the team. If i can`t play the game within the next 24 hours ill bring it back to the store, means i`ll cancel the debit.

Nice tip, worked for me thx. As an additional detail: make sure you select the Eve tab on the taskbar and then press ALT + Enter.

I suspect there has been a windows/direct X update that has somehow messed something up, at least on specific machines. My vista desktop has no problem, my xp laptop has the problem. For CCP, to confirm, when I open the client initially the first splash screen shows, but when the main login screen SHOULD appear all I get is the program tab on the task bar. Leaving this for any amount of time makes no difference. So far Alt Tab has done nothing. Reinstalling has done nothing. When you click on the task bar tab, there appears to be an animation of what should be the full window minimising to the task bar... but the main window never actually appears. Help please!

Tried re-installing, as well as about 15 different system restore points. I am running windows XP with a noice processor and a semi-decent Radeon X750 gphx card. The alt-enter tip nada working for me either. Por Favor some help CCP? I really don't want to re-format my PC.

I now have this problem, along with all the other bugs from **ty client, and I can't even run the damn game. ALT-enter would work for me probably if the game client would stop crashing, which it does. I gotta tell you, I'm getting VERY tired of this bull. We don't need new graphics or walking in stations. What we need is a bug free game client. Is that too much to ask for? One **ed off customer.

As others have found the game shows the initial splash screen then "dissapears". The icon is n the task bar but the main window can't be seen. I have tried all the suggestions by players.
BABOCHEE	Posted - 2008.05.11 10:14:00 - [25] hey i had the same problem but i fixed it a different way.... when right clicking on the eve.exe and going in the compatibility settings... i checked all the boxes and set it to boot in XP SP2... then i ran the exec and it worked! sure it booted up in a terrible 640x480 res but i was in! i simply changed the setting back ingame to the regular 1680x1050 then exited eve. After exiting i changed the compatibility back to Vista (turned it off), unchecked boot in 256 colors and 640x480 res (im keeping the rest checked for now cuz i just got eve working after 3 days of finding a fix). Maybe i can turn everything off and it will be fine, i dunno.. but now its working fine. Hope this helps? =)

I have initial splash screen, then nothing for several seconds and then a full screen of the game with the Eve logo but no login boxes. Music plays underground. It seems I can click here and there on the screen but I can't see anything. Around the middle of the screen the pointer of the mouse turns into cursor (I) as if there is a place to write something. But of course I don't see anything to write into. I can't tell when the problem started since I play randomly but it's very annoying not being able to play a game that you have paid until November '08... CCP, where are you? I'll try the Linux client tomorrow and I'll tell you (it was working fine until some days ago but now I made a clean installation of Ubuntu).

I crahed out last night, andlost my ishtar...thanks ccp...but more importantly, I can't download either client, sais the connection to server has been reset each time. And tryin to start up my existing client, I get about .5 fps on my whole computer. This has to be an eve problem because everything else is fine. I wonder if I will get my first ship back ever from ccp this time, probably not...

It's a Windows problem related either with the Win client or a Microsoft update or a combination of the two. I tried to install Eve on an old pc at work running XP but I'm having the same problem not able to login. For the record, I have an AMD 3800+ (2,4GHz) with 1GHz of Ram and an old Nvidia 5700LE 256MB and I have been playing for more than 2 years with this "monster"...

It came up huge in my display but it was there! I clicked ESC and then I was able to TAB down and select "Full Screen" and then "Apply" (the very next button after "Present Interval") then ENTER. Log off Eve and go back and change the properties back to normal. It's running ok now (well, as ok as it'll run on this old machine , but at least I can set skills etc). I hope this helps some of you.

I played the game right up till down time, it closed itself but before that happened, the resolution sort of changed then it closed itself. Whenever trying to start up the client, all i was getting was the tab down the bottom but nothing else. Alt-Enter did not work, but right clicking on the eve.exe file, going to compatibility mode and selecting start in 640x480 resolution fixed the problem.

Ive been using this workaround for a month but i'de really love for CCP to provide the bugfix, reinstalling because of this is a joke and unacceptable.

Then had to try to hit the right place to hit to change resolution. Then fool around to try to find the reset settings tab then clear cache. And then turn off 640x480 compability mode. After that the client runned smooth. The thing for me is that i diddt see the cursor, so i had to move it so i could see fields light up then press. The thing i miss is a out of game change of resolution and cache clearing.

I tried pressing alt+enter twice and that seemed to work and avoided it from crashing. I'm on Vista 64x so if anyone else is having crashing issued with alt+enter try pressing it twice. CCP needs to get this fixed.

I hope this helps some of you. I did the same thing and it worked. alt+tab worked once for me and then it just kept crashing again. It's a pain in the ass to have to do this but worked for me.
