So I played the 14 days of trial and decided to buy more time . And to my surprise I didnt have to actually BUY the game, I just had to add gametime to continue playing.
Is this correct? I dont have to actually buy the game to play it to its fullest? The reason im wondering is that I dont want to be stuck with some "trial account", I want the full game.
Hope you understand my question, my english isnt the best :) |

^, explained in just 1 word, I love it. And it's correct, adding gametime to your trial means it's now a full account, as you paid (one way or another) of that extra gametime J'Poll Recruiter - Imperial Legi0n

There is a one-time fee of about $10 for "activating" the account and turning it into a full-time account (or at least there was one). You can consider that "buying" the game, if you wish.
The client does not differ between the trial and full version of Eve, and other players have no way of distinguishing a trial account from a full account without your explicit permission. Buying Eve (adding gametime) just removes some of the restrictions on your trial account -- not being able to fly industrial ships, or ships bigger than a cruiser, for example. I've never seen Tau lie on the forums at all, so obviously he speaks the truth.
To OP, welcome to EVE Online as a full paid account, now the entire sandbox is open to you and I hope you like it.
And like mentioned before, if you "buy" the game straight away from any source you pay a $5 subscription fee, if you upgrade a trial using a PLEX it is free. Don't spread this too much as else CCP might become aware of it and changes it J'Poll Recruiter - Imperial Legi0n

To be fair I think its the same price regardless. I mean 1 Plex is 20 bucks. To sub the regular way you'd be paying 5 bucks plus the first 15 for the month. Either way CCP is getting their 20 dollars.

That is if you buy the PLEX from CCP store. If you use a GTC from for instance ShatteredCrystal or buy a PLEX from the ingame market you will pay less (or no) real money at all J'Poll Recruiter - Imperial Legi0n

dunno where you're buying things from. Shattered Crystal lists GTC as 34.95. 1 GTC = 2 PLEX. 1 Plex therefore is "worth" approximately 17.50. |

Thanks guys for all the replys. Im coming from 7 years of WoW wich also was my very first mmorpg and I have to say that even if it to me now finaly has lost its appeal its a game that I will never forget, it brought me so much joy through those years.
And yet after 7 years of WoW it was just about two weeks ago that I first heard of Theme Park and Sandbox mmorpg:s, before that I wasnt even aware that there was two types of mmorpg:s.
When I first stopped playing WoW (wich, btw, was my first break or stop ever of WoW), I first tried out SWTOR but I just couldnt find much joy in that game (SWTOR seemed VERY much of a Theme Park mmo , far more so then WoW, so even among theme park games there seems to be games that are more theme park and less theme park).
So I decided to try a sandbox mmo because, from reading about it, I think there seem to be so much potential in a game like this, where only yourself is the limit.
I hope and think I have found a new home in EVE and im looking forward to a long and interesting journey .

Welcome to EVE, Pertinax Sceleratus!
Not only don't you need to buy EVE Online additionally to your subscription, you will get also free expansions twice a year and numerous upgrades and improvements. You can read more about the previous EVE Online expansions on our EVElopedia here.
EVE Online is special in many ways, it is a wonderful sandbox. But the true power comes - in my opinion - from the combination of the sandbox and with an unsharded server so that all players engange in one single universe and affect each other this way. This has lead to a immensely interesting and strong community which can be considered being quite unique in the (gaming) world. CCP Phantom - German Community Coordinator |
