I've been gone for over a year, and I've just come back in the last week or so. I've suddenly realised how far prices have dropped while I've been gone!
When I left, prices for Zydrine and Megacyte were something like 4000 ISK per unit and more, now they're in the 2500-ISK region. As such, it would appear as though the prices of ships have dropped too - a Megathron for less than 100mills when I left was a good price, now they're mid-80s!
*feels sorry for low sec miners who's efforts are worth less now*
Is this because of the release of the big industrial-minery-bargey-type thing since I've been gone?

Not really, more a case of more people mining increasing the supply. Plus the opening up of the drone regions made Zydrine much more freely available.
Check the first econo-blog for some info on changes in the minerals market.

By my math if they trained exhumers, they can still earn enough to buy a battleship in a similar amount of time as they did a year ago.

That's good math.

well a lil' more than exhumers with the repaired gang assist mods, 50mil/h is still doable - putting the gist back into logistics |

False.
Almost not worth the bother salvaging if you weren't already tractoring the cans over the the Alloys.

Thats right! Keep them away from salvaging drones, keeps supply low and your profit high! Way to go!

Wrong... especially considering I haven't even hauled any salvage out of the region yet. However, while you get pretty much every type of salvage out there, you get it in very limited quantities. I'd have made a ton more ISK wise if I were salvaging an equal amount of Angels, for example.
Believe me, salvaging in the Drone regions is hardly causing a price crash in salvage, so that's the least of my worries, contrary to your silly speculation.

For some reason, many people refer to drone 'salvage' as the alloys dropped by the drones. Makes it confusing, sometimes.

And yet, at those times Trit was scraping by at 1.5 and Pyer a meager 3.5-4.0
Just don't get me started on the Nocx drop :( 700 down to 100. Now THAT's a crash.
What's weird is the current distribution of prices, with nocx at 100, the next highest is Megacyte at 2300. Should there be a mid-priced mineral in the 1k-1.5k range? Or should we just crash the Megacyte market

It must have been after you left over a year ago they introduced the drone regions which drop huge amounts of just about everything (except mexallon). Zydrine crashed to 1300/unit, megacyte below 2000. Mexallon shot up to 40 isk /unit, pyerite was over 9/unit, and Trit hitting 3.6 (the price at which you can reprocess shuttles instead).
They since changed some of the drone loot to drop less Zydrine and instead more trit/pyerite, and Zydrine has been rising ever since, slowly for the most part, it stuck back at about 1900-2000 for quite a while, but is now up higher again. Morphite had crashed to about 3000 isk/unit but is back up around 9000 isk due to the higher demand invention has brought.
It really has not alot to do with mining at all, infact even with all the new toys it is still less profitable than it was. Nocxium a year ago was touching 600 isk (though traditionally it was about 350). Now it is around 100. Isogen that spent so long over 100 isk is now half that. Mexallon is stabilised at about 33isk (2 years ago you couldn't get rid of it for 7 isk).
Low sec mining has, pretty much since the zydrine and nocx makret dropped, has been worthless, with trit and pyerite / mex going up so much, all low sec ores are less valuable than the highsec ores.
Omber and Jaspet now being the least valuable ores to mine !

Thanks for that info. Was wondering about the drop in Trit prices. That little titbit helps round out my understanding of it.
BTW, Omber Zombie. Your brethren may be safe but it looks like you wernt't so lucky. :)
