people are talking about making mid-warp bookmarks. im confused. can someone tell me how to make that kind of bookmark or any other way? the only way i know is by bookmarking a perticular object.(like a cargo container or wreck)
yes i am posting with an alt because im embarassed to ask with my main. it seems like i am missing an obvious game mechanic! |

Edited by: Dirk Magnum on 09/02/2008 03:51:26 Open the people&places window. Select "add location". While you are in warp, click it and add a bookmark. That bookmark will be at the place you occupied in warp when you hit the add bookmark button.
Whenever you need to safespot, just right click and select that bookmark location.
edit: scan probers can still find you at a safespot, but people using the standard ship scanner can't warp to you. Since scan/recon probe launchers take up so much CPU it isn't likely that a solo pirate will have one fitted.

Edited by: Dirk Magnum on 09/02/2008 04:14:58 Hey no problem. Up until a few months ago I thought safespots had to be made by running down one's capacitor to the point where you couldn't make a complete warp jump. Then you could set a bookmark wherever your diminished capacitor had the power to jump you to. It's only because I never bothered to ask.

Couple of things to add:
The least safe safespots are the ones directly in-line between two celestial objects (mid-safes). These are quick to scan down, so don't linger in them. Better ones are made by warping between mid-safes and making bookmarks between them so they're not aligned with objects like planets/gates/etc. Even better is if you're > 14.5 AU from any object. The best are deep safes, way off grid, but those are hard to make ;)
And the bookmark is created when you press the "OK" button, not when you click the "Add bookmark" button. ________________________________________________________________
