There may be more cans than the targeting ability of the ship you are flying. How do you mark cans as "opened", so you can unlock them and forget them?
thanks. |

Target the first, start unlocking it. When it's done, keep it targeted and do the same to the next. When you reach your tareting limit, unlock all the ones you're unlocked and target the ones you didnt touch yet instead.
In other words, you target as many as you can, treat them in a stack (first in, last out) way, then do the remaining in a queue (first in, first out). |

I've never messed around with 'Tags' but this is how I generally work it.
Usually after destroying NPC's, I just target lock as many of the containers that I can starting with the nearest one first. Usual average amount of cans is around 4 so hopefully ship can target more than that. After can is opened and looted, just unlock that specific target and go to the next nearest locked can and target lock any other remaining cans.
Basically it's that and visually make note of ship location within the site, some Mag sites will have a lot of 'Wrecks' spread out among 4 to 6 cans. I'll start at one end and work to the other end. |

yeah easiest is to tag them. make fleet with yourself an turn on tags. if theres alot of cans tag them from 1-9 and after its empty i tag them with a letter E (e for empty) |

My approach is:
- During last wave a DPS guys tags the cans, 1 - 10, in order of shortest route around them; - Can opener warps to number 1, locks and runs modules, locking number 2 while the modules run. Then 3, 4, 5, 6 etc until they're all done. I don't change their name after I empty them, but stick to the numerical order to keep track of where I'm at.
I used to start at a 'notable' can and run a a pattern from there (say anticlockwise around them all) ... but some of the larger sites are a bit hard to keep track of the pattern.
We can build and sell pretty much every ship. Check my bio for details. Our pirate epic arc completion packages really are very good: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=12973&find=unread |

I use tags too, but just tag them once I've opened them. I used to number them and work through them, now just tag them 0 once complete.
Basically, tags are the way to go when there's more cans than you can target, however you manage them. |

Tags. Super helpful, since if you're in a frigate in a large mag site you might not have enough targets or long enough targeting range to keep them all targeted throughout. |

Tags are good for groups, when solo I just zoom out and virtually all of the mag/radar sites have cans laid out in a beautiful pattern which immediately becomes apparent and which I follow with joy. (This really is actually what I do - pattern recognition is a powerful tool)
But I guess that doesn't work for everyone.

A random idea that just popped into my mind is... why not just sort your overview alphabetically? It would mean you can't exactly go to each one by the shortest distance, but it does mean that your containers will always stay in a certain order, theoretically. |
