I propose, we'll draw the battlefield in a grid, like Battleships, FC's can sit in a group and shout out co-ords

Edited by: Jebidus Skari on 11/02/2008 12:50:34 Well ive posted my views already but was also disappointed that I didnt get to fight after waiting for around 5 hours for the build up, only to find at the end at 2am approx that i couldnt do anything, couldnt lock, load the grid (when it did i warped from the warp i initiated 15 mins ago) So after all the waiting all the build up - this was the end game - fantastic - tell me but im i stupid to be still paying for this game? Fleet battles are supposed to be epic - not epic fail. However GF by all, and feck knows how anyone managed called primaries but they did...

There were roughly 42 Tri Caps, Roughly 200 in the support fleet.
there was a Trinity or ATF support fleet that came in another gate but those numbers may have been part of the 200 man support fleet.
The RK numbers dropped over time to about 150 support fleet and less than 42 caps but i dont know our exact numbers, i was watching tri smack me in their system.
We knew you were coming so we decided to stay. We saw the moms jump to the interjump system ready to get in place. So we didnt really get trapped. We just wanted a Fight.
We didnt attack in VFK where your gang was because you have a Cyno jammer up there and it doesnt make much sense for us to hit 42 caps with 7 of those being moms with a BS fleet- thats about 450 Fighters. + that 200 man support fleet.
Anyway it was a moon mining training op ok?
We learned we needed more Rorquals. |

I don't want to argue too much, but you there were 176 in local before we jumped in, with 4-5 of those being Tri.
Our gang dropped to 86 during the 'height' of battle due to people crashing.
If you include ATF, our caps etc, our total gang was less than 150...in fact not even close...local never went above 300...so your numbers are off.

Hmmm that is interesting, taking a look at your kb and not counting people listed twice for your fleet (and friends) counted around 180 for the battle and counting RK ( and friends) we had around 130 for the battle.
You list 37 caps and 2 super caps, we list 22 caps and no super caps....just going by your kb because we know your is more accurate than ours.

Edit: that should tell you something about the lag enjoyed by all, let the lord of chaos (lag) rule
The TRI kb only shows so few of your capitals because your capitals only managed to kill 1 TRI cap, so unless they killed one of your capitals or 1 of your capitals was on that 1 mail it wont show in engagement.

Where in our kb you get them numbers? They are pretty off, we had 7 motherships shown on kb and 31 carriers. You are shown to have 21 carriers, 3 dreads and a mothership.
However it is well documented you had more carriers but they left the fight early without getting on a kill thus are not shown in the engagement. I don't think the numbers really matter in the main scale of things.
It was a good fight and a bad fight at the same time. Lag made things bad but obviously the sheer amount of kills makes it good (at least for us).
Excuse my smack from earlier. 10 hours of prep and being up at like 4-6am makes me grouchy. ----------

i think if ccp would add one more layer of calculations like heat, rigs, scripts, boosters, maybe some more drone like things we can alunch then lag will surely get a lot better, hig powered graphics engine also probably will cut back on lag. ccp dont get it, we want a game that works, not shiny. here is a age old credo you might want to consider
FORM FOLLOWS FUNCTION!!!!!!
you can stop padding yourselfs on the back for the "only one server MMO Blah blah 34k players online blah blah blah. you can stick that where the sun dont shine oveur."
at this point, any Wow server performs better as people can actually play, and not watch a non interactive slideshow of this oh-so-awesome trinity**** engine.
the only thing, and really the only thing keeping my accounts active right now is the friends i have in my corp and alliance, otherwise i would put my 50 bucks elsewhere.

EVERY massive fleet fight is going to be a lag fest. Either adapt and overcome, or die. It's ALWAYS been that way. Whining solves nothing. If you can't handle the lag, then don't bring the blob, then we won't have to bring ours.
You came to our space to show everyone that Tri is a "paper tiger", like many of you have stated on the forums. Well, you met with Lion that so many others were unfortunate to meet in the past, and he happily dined on most of your capitals and the support fleet. BTW, a LOT of our capitals logged or couldn't make this late op. So you've yet to see anywhere near our full capital fleet.
The next "epic" battle will be just as bad as this one lag wise. So make sure you can handle it next time or you won't have any capitals left. I suggest you guys read up on ways to reduce lag in fleet battles.
I took all possible steps to reduce lag, and it was manageable. Was on 18 capital killmails, if that says anything. YMMV.

Your numbers are wrong Wes. From two jumps out I watched a fleet of 110 tri then a fleet of 70 atf arrive, then onseytwoseythreesey people coming in regularly after that. Another scout reported people coming from the other direction. No real point having this argument I know, fair game bringing numbers, and the 8 moms was a bit rough on us, and we got our ass handed to us in the end, just please do not try to make it sound like you were outnumbered.
Also I understand that the numbers on either side before the jump and the max system numbers are also meaningless because people crashed, but believe me people crashed on our side two.

Incorrect, Back in the good old days 200 vs 200 would cause no lag, minimal lag at best, I remember stain getting 230+ gangs all the time and there was no lag.

we were probably split 2 to 1 armor shield reps, but really it was irrelevant, spider tank failed because noone was able to lock anything. I managed to get one rep on one guy once the whole fight, and for that matter never managed to light my smartbomb.

edit: sp and to say, gf, good job on the cap kills.
I agree that many ships passed you by, my count was based on how many people made it into system during the 'height' of battle...I can tell you gang dropped to 86 on our side (I had lots of time to look at stuff like that...as I couldnt see anything else for alot of the fight! thank god MSN and voice coms don't lag!)
I am sure your side also had many drops as the lag was truly dreadful.

Seems sad that the majority of this thread is talking about lag, its difficult to see a resolution to the problem though, the game caters towards massive fleets with all or nothing attitudes. Overall well done tri, killboards seem to suggest you brought a damn good capital response. As for numbers, no killboard or single perspective likely reflects what truly happened. Each side usually spins it towards an unfair fight or blames it on lag, who cares in the end though, this will go down as a tri win, and rightly so. As for the lag, we can only hope it improves, but as people have said before, 'adapt or die', because in all likely hood, we are going to see a more new features and content before we see lag dissapear.

Please people. Calm down. A little at least.
Dont make this into a önumber argumentö they will NEVER be correct due to people dropping, people counting twice, local being fubard etc. Example would be 5 ppl telling me that VFK local was at 245-250 and I was seeing 309 (190 in gang). Add the 10% that is not actually in gang or just going out.
And as someone pointed out, we should not be arguing against ourselves, RK and Co got shafted, TRI won. This time. But we ALL lost due to server performance.(I ofc lost more since I logged out 30mins before the fight. As usual.) The state of game play is not about ôplaying through the lagö or ôaccepting that this is the way it isö. We really frikkin should NOT accept that. No way, no how!
We all know that going into big battles are going to be laggy, we have all learned to adapt somewhat but what is the most frustrating and what this is really about is the fact that despite all talk about ôneed for speedö NOTHING has happened for a long time. It has just become worse! And as reported by many people, battles does not need to be in the 300+ range for things to go down the crapper either. No consistency. Even the de-synchs seems to be on the rise again that was, allegedly, reduced quite a lot (perhaps it was but not really to an acceptable level imho).
For me the lag is a real dampener on good game play but the lack of information, progress and interest in what we as large scale combat corporations are doing, saying and want to achieve is what really starting to **** me off. Sure, digging around you will find some information on the HPC things and the problems and solutions that could come out of that but there is no real information (that I have found admittedly) that actually talks about WHY the situation has become as bad as it is today.
Something is broken, if perhaps we knew what it is we can try to work around it?
No back to my webcast, it actually just got interesting.
Regards, Lowa

Truth is lag was really bad before the fight...I was scouting around a few hours before the fight, and lagged out when I was killed jumping into an 11 man gang...don't know why it was so harsh yesterday, but eve didn't seem to be working very well.

I really wish I could say "it was fun". A fight like this should have been but I never got a shot off.
My highlight was locking a flight of fighters as they entered range and activating my guns on them. They passed me as close as 25km. Their target was popped or escaped and they came back passing me again. My guns never fired.
Eve finally crashed and as of last night, the only indication I have that my ship is still in tact is that Evemon does not show an increase in my wallet balance

To Tri and Friends: Good Fight.
RK went there itching for a fight, and we got one. The fight was lost but thats ok, many of us just didn't care. We were there to loose and destroy ships, it was all good, and there were some things learned for next time.
But I do have to stress that the lag in that fight was really bad and many of my friends and corp members reported of basically never being able to lock anything. I was able to lock two hostile carriers for the entire fight, and I managed to lock two friendlies but never able to activate remote repair modules. I am sure many on both sides can say the same.
I would have loved to redo that fight with no lag, I'm sure it wold have been an epic fight on both sides.
Well Again, Good Fight and we'll be seeing you :)

Both sides had to fight the terrible " Third Party " which is lag. Both sides were having the same problems so Lag didn't give one side an advantage or disadvantage. We both had to deal with it. And to be honest it wasn't even the worst lag I had seen. It was bad, but I have been in fleet fights where it was much worse.
still as much as I was yelling at the screen to load up, Lock targets, activate mods ( which i was doing constantly for the duration of the fight )
I had a blast
