Tranquility will undergo an extended downtime on Tuesday, 19 February. The start time is 11:00 GMT and the length of the downtime is expected to be three hours. During this time, a patch will be applied to Trinity consisting of one fix.
Yes ladies and gentlemen, you heard correctly, there is one fix in this patch. The issue was that if your EVE client takes too long to start up, you couldn't enter your username or password, this has now been fixed.
Patch Notes are now available. Any updates will be highlighted with green text.
But quite frankly there is one patch note here so there will most likely not be any updates and I'm not even sure if there's that much to discuss anyway. But if you find something, knock yourselves out! But as usual, make sure you set a long skill training during patch day!

I'm by no means in the know how on server-side or even gaming mechanics/technology...but why such a long downtime to patch just one item?
Is this amount of time a generic figure in which a patch (whether multiple items or not) takes to be installed?
Excuse my ignorance - just curious...i am by no means complaining - before the forum trolls try to gobble me!

i would just guess that the build number is kinda irrelevant, b/c its including ALL builds (the ones on SiSi too) thats why its high, tbh, before i was reading anything but the news, i was actually thinking they were going to deploy the changes from SiSi, good that is not the case :p

Actually, it was a simple client patch that broke EVE, not a driver update.... so apparently not ATi's fault....

I think some fixes are missing. I know for a fact the blanking out of ships/items when merged to station services has been fixed, and was just waiting to be deployed in the next patch.

What about the thousand and one things that have been broken since Trinity 1? It's been a very long time without any sign of things being fixed =|
At least if you're fixing the login screen, fix it properly. Allow for manual refreshing of the server status for a start

The patch only takes 10 mins to update, the reason for the 3 hour break is the CCP office Valentines Day Party with the Secret Cupid Present exchange. This annual event takes place every year 5 days after Valentines Day so each employee can judge what to get that special someone that got nothing on Valentines Day due to the insensitivity of others. Please understand and give them this time.
That is all...

I've actually been experiencing this problem quite frequently lately. The easy fix was to close EvE and reopen it, and then it worked fine. I'm actually a bit surprised since I thought this was something on my end, but I'm glad to know it's getting fixed.
Now if they can only tell me why it lags 30 seconds when opening my market context menus (right-click, wait, wait, there it is, oh crap the screen refreshed and the menu won't respond so I have to do it over) to load in an underpopulated system where there's only 200 in local when it used to take over 300 to affect the market. I'm starting to suspect something else is going on because it's definately gotten worse the past week or so. Again, this is something I thought was on my end, now I have to wonder.

The fix that is in the patch notes is in revision 49137.
Revisions 45944-49136 are all new bugs (probably mostly for the Mac and Linux clients).
