The advantage you talk of isn't relevant in a multi-player game, as it's multi-player. You're fighting 2, whether they are played by 2 people or the same person. When you can tell me the advantage 2 accounts has over 2 accounts I'll listen to you. Right now you're just a troll. |

Why am I a troll? I'm just disagreeing with you.
In an MMO, generally you fight other players, not one masquarding (Spelling?) as twenty. It totally goes against the concept of an MMO

I'm blunt, if you dislike that, too bad. As far as I'm concerned, multi-boxing is cheating
Nah it's not cheating. I pay more per month than you, I should be allowed some advantage for this. How are you going to stop it - allow only one instance? Then I get a virtual machine program. Or another computer. One per IP - seriously? Besides, multi-boxing for PVP is possibly the worst thing you can do - you are guaranteed to lose multiple ships. But for mining and cynos... |

And people bitched about pay to win with aurum. This argument for multiboxing is no better. Apparently, Eve is already pay to win.
I think CCP should start selling gold ammo. Why not put the final nail in the coffin. |

EVE was always pay to win. Don't like your toon? Buy someone else's. Oh ok you pay in GTC's or PLEX, but it's still pay to win. How else do you get people in Rorquals who didn't know that these ships can't use stargates? |

a person using 2 accounts (Multi boxing) VS 2 single accounts is going to be at a disadvantage so this is not cheating or paying to win. it takes longer to do stuff. You miss stuff on the other screen.

Professor Alphane wrote:I personally love the fact CCP allows people to us multiple accounts, so we can invstigate multiple aspects of the game.
Though there is some logic in the arguement if a solo player Wardecs a 10 account multi boxer, we know who is going to win.
But that said if a solo player wardecs a 10 player corp, we also know who's going to win.
Does it follow then that you believe those 10 players are collectively 'paying to win'? I personally have never 10 boxed before, though this character is one of the 6 I use for grinding incursions. Rest assured, if I got wardecced by a 1 man corp, it would not go well for him
The irony here is that I know, from experience, that if I take one of my toons, and wardec a 10 man corp, I'll stomp the floor with them more often than not (and I tend to prefer larger targets anyway, 10 people rarely tend to have many active members, alliances with 150+ are more fun)
With all that said:
I actually DO think eve would be a much better game without alts. Capitals/supercaps would be more corp-oriented assets spies wouldn't be so absurdly easy to make/plant etc. It will NEVER happen, since eve's playerbase would shrink to about half its current size overnight, assuming people didn't just work their way around whatever blocks get put up, but it's a nice thought at least. |

Overview still has trouble with the scroll bar though - sometimes you are no longer able to click on stuff in the list unless you click on the scroll bar again. If there is no scroll bar make the box smaller so a scroll bar appears, click on it, then resize the box back and you can select stuff. Funny how you can make changes to a section of code while leaving the basic bugs unchanged. |

As for lil miss against multiboxing....ha!! Go away troll back under your bridge!! Try MINING without a hauler, back BEFORE the advent of barges. Try finding a FRIEND whos willing to sit there and haul for you cuz you cant multibox it. Someone always willing to be at your beck and call, especially if a can flipper shows up and you NEED that hauler ASAP!! Cuz I know youll get LOTS of those friends and not have to pay to keep them around. And that was HOW many years ago already?
Mmmhmmm. Strength isnt measured in numbers but in force of will. For if one motived willful individual stands many will fall around him that are weak.

Uh, that's probably not in the same section of code. Also, its highly unlikely that every bug that's ever been reported about "the overview" was delivered to him to sift through when he was given the task to update the refresh rate.

Now that we've heard from the "I like my EVE on easy mode!" crowd, try imagining the depth and immersion of a game where one of the plausible professions is being a freelance hauler in a busy mining system because all those miners can't just cheese cargo robots. You could even go crooked and occasionally drum up business by paying a can flipper to harass the system occasionally.
Imagine a game where you ACTUALLY can't trust anyone else because there are no two characters whos motivations come from the same source. There'd always be that twinge of doubt when you jumped to a cyno, or your scout told you the gate was clear, etc.
Imagine a game where a well-oiled mining op or something comperable was a real accomplishment, instead of just a poor fallback if you can't 10-box.
For anyone that actually appreciates the fact that the harsh environs of EVE lend legitimacy to the completion of even simple tasks, removing multiboxing would create a staggeringly more complex and immersive game. I bet guys like Eternus here like to join in with the "go back to WoW" when someone complains about training times or pirates, but turns around and spews this bunk when making the game more difficult is suggested.
It is sad that this would be nearly impossible to impliment. As it stands, I merely pretend alts are, in fact, programmable androids that very rich capsuleers can afford. |
