With the recent very long thread about lvl 4 missions being too blah blah blah, need people in low sec blah blah blah....
It is time to add in lvl 6 and lvl 7 missions to low sec to get more people in there... increase the reward in low sec....
I say it is time to add lvl 6 to lvl 9999999 missions to low sec, with exponential rewards...
that way it will get people there...

If lvl 5's are lowsec only and unsoloable and people are still hanging around in highsec why do you think that would work oh brilliant one?

the pir...
I mean, people are screaming moving lvl 4... saying theres too much reward blah blah blah...
is ridiculous!!!! somethings needs to be done to silence the 8 pages of screaming!!!!
so I say.. up the reward....!!!
that way, their Risk-VS-rewardÖ will be in check and they.... they cant really complain anymore!!!!
so add lvl 999999 missions I say!!!

If 6/7 are added, people will skip level 5s entirely the way the system is setup now. This means that Level 5s are borked, and adding more on top of them is equally pointless unless the risk vs. reward is exponentially out of whack.
They should rebalance level 5s and see what happens.

well, some new ideas for sure...
but yeah, (no matter how many brilliant ideas people come up with *IE: dynamic sec status, dynamic agent rating... etc..agents that move around the eve universe)
the reality of how people are risk adverse wont change...
and no way to get people who dont want to go into low...
and if an idea seems like it would work.. it usually end up being a mother on the database/load or it is too much coding...
*btw, I wasnt serious in case anyone is wondering.... about adding lvl N stuff... hehe, we got lvl 5 already... but yeah*
edit: and I done 1 lvl 5 once *friend dragged me..* and got jumped once trying to do it..
not worth it... I rather grind lvl 3 semi-afk... no risk for relatively fast isk..

Nothing will get someone who doesnt want to risk pvp out of high sec. What WOULD be nice is if lowsec bounties STARTED at where they are in .1 in .4, and worked there way up to 650k-800k BS spawns in .1
This would make lowsec more profitable than now by a considerable margin, while still being less than 0.0
Would it pull people out of highsec? No, but it would improve the livelyhood of people who live in lowsec. As it is now belt ratting in lowsec is a bad idea. Not suboptimal, bad.

Let me make this clear:
"People who want to be in low-sec are either already there or will go there regardless. People who do not want to be in low-sec will not move there even if you promised them a life-long supply of drugs, booze and sex."
Low-sec takes a specific mindset, as does zero-space. It's not about potential of reward vs. risk -- at all!

This is incorrect. Sorry, but it just is.
There is a certain level of risk one can tolerate, that's all there is to it. Lately the risk of low-sec has been going up, and that's why the low-sec mission hubs have emptied out. Or did you think it was just bad weather?

Edited by: Agil TradeAlt on 18/02/2008 09:08:56 lvl5's are useless because of respawning neut towers. This all Gist boosters become obsolete.
Without neut towers, more people would do them.
Next, people wont do them in low sec because the reward is not worth the risk and hassel. No point doing lvl5's in low sec if you spend 50% of your time unproductively avoiding pirates for a average lvl3 q 20 reward if you work out isk/hour for all members required to do it. You can make 15-20k lp per hour in low sec lvl3's done machine gun style.

90% of that thread is just one person pulling counterpoints out of their ass for everything.
And the reason nobody does level 5s is because they're shiet, not because they're in low-sec. They utterly bum-*****your standings and give mostly a bunch of dogtags which, while useful, have dubious value at best. Just another failed experiment.

It's a little of both. As it is, I live in lowsec, but if I want to do any cash building outside looting peoples wrecks I really have to go to 0.0
Outside of the entry points and sov defense it's safer or at least no more dangerous than lowsec, but the money is exponentially better. I suggested what I did because if lowsec could support even level 3 isk/hour I'd be happy enough with it(convienence of being at home). If you get really lucky and find a decent sized .1 system you'll probably clear 1-2mil. In .4 its more often 300k-500k for the entire system.
You can clear twice that in syndicate, a less than fertile ground as 0.0 goes. In a single spawn.
Bring lowsec up so that the belts in a .4 are worth a good 1-2 mil, and .1 a good 4-6mil and you will see more people in lowsec.

slight? as a logistic pilot all I can do is stare at the other ships and wonder... why aren't the anti support taking me out? I'm just healing the tank. he takes damage I heal he kills.
that's not PvE, that's a time sink.

You picked a crappy specialization? If you had to warp out all the time from being attacked you'd be better off in a combat ship to help kill the NPCs.
More sophisticated NPC AI would add more server load, btw. A lot more, considering how many NPCs exist in space at any given time. But it is a nice idea...

why would a logistics ship have to warp off? it can out run cruisers and small ships should be primaries. small sig radius. if you have to warp out then you'd be no good in PvP.

Add whatever you want to lowsec. It still amounts to you being farmed and the bulk of the population won't do it. Instanced missions that use dormant servers would do the trick but that lucrative 1% who live and breath to **** on someone elses cornflakes would get cut out and that won't happen. |

Because level 5s take 4x as long as level 4s, force you to be in lowsec, and have no real major advantage in terms of reward?
Sure, you get tags for those shiney LP offers... but you'd have been better off running 4 other level 4s, earning at least double the LP and at least double if not triple the ISK... and that's if your able to do L5s Solo/with alts, and don't have to share with anybody else.

I think most people forget that L5's even exist.. Since nobody actually does them =/
Isn't that because you need a gang to do them, and by the time you divide the rewards/bounties and losses over a small gang you are better off doing lvl4s!
Lvl5s need like 3-4x the rewards they currently give to even be on par with lvl4s, plus the lowsec setting adds cost/time/organisation to even accessing them. If they gave 5-10 times more than they do now Lvl 5 missions *might* be worth it. I think they were too timid and pre-nerfed the lvl5 rewards.

One thing I see is risk vs reward. I saw someone state what is the risk of a gang of 'pirates' ganking a pve fit cnr in low sec?
I'm about as far from a 'carebear' as one can get, but I do agree with that statement. Please do not post pictures of players in your sig - Mitnal

Even with 5-10x rewards. Lvl5's are still crap. You cannot do lvl5's in active setups due to respawning neut towerss and these towers have to stop respawning or be removed.
