Quote:When it comes to re-subscribing, however, you will have to register at the EON Store.
You managed to hide that bit between things about the EVE store. If you are transfering the subscription management to an outsourced company we should get a few more information about that. |

Why on earth is CCP using an in-house e-commerce/e-retail system? Focus on producing games, and buy that sort of stuff off-the-shelf. Do you guys build your own HR and Finance systems too? |

Quote:We actually put a lot of time into researching the best platform and we liked Zinio by far the best. The service works across a greater range of devices (PC, Mac, Android, iOS) and you can download the mags as many times as you like to however many devices you own. No doubt there are some of you asking why we don't just sell pdfs from the EON Store, which is a fair question, but we almost see Zinio as the Steam of the magazine world. It has ubiquity, ease of use, a nice switch between portrait and landscape modes (and a text-only mode that we'll be eventually supporting), relatively small file sizes for each magazine compared to hi-res pdf files, and the aforementioned support over a range of devices - which, we're informed, will soon include Kindle Fire. Oh, and there's a nice preview feature too.
So basically it's going to be a proprietary, DRM infested format even though you're perfectly aware that PDFs exist? Sorry guys, I think not! darmwand Repossession Agent http://www.repo-corp.net/ Recruitment is OPEN |

Question: I re-subscribed for another year during the 2011 Thanksgiving sale. I paid for it. 100%. Now the 4th issue of 2011 was already released then, so my next issue should be the #1 of 2012.
Will I still get it, or do I have to pay for another re-sub year again (that I already did with thanksgiving)? |

Nxt time I'm holding the digital format it will be like:
Enhance 224 to 176, stop. Move in, stop. Pull out, track right, stop. Center in, pull back. Stop.
Give me a hard copy right there |

Finally Digital edition.! I agree with several people: CCP needs to focus most of eve's recources on FIS, but the development of WIS still needs to continue, just as a slower and more efficient pace. In eve I wish to be more than just a machine. |

Yes, you'll get it. All active subscriptions taken out through the EVE Store will be fulfilled. Your magazine will be with you very soon.

It is just one single edition (UK/US) at the moment, or a subscription starting with the same issue - #026. The back issues will be added in due course.

the pricing of the digital format is absurd. Its 25% more expensive then the printed format on some DRM ****** plattfrom. The reason why you are not doing pdf is clear to everyone who is not a dope, you are afraid people share it.

Sounds cool, I have been toying with the idea of getting a sub of a distinguished magazine for my coffee-table, this might be just the kick in the pants I need.

Of course sharing is an issue: this is a first step into digital waters and naturally we are cautious. That's not the only issue, however. There is a significant matter of accessibility and Zinio does a good job of working well across most platforms. I read unprotected pdf magazines and ones through from Zinio on my tablet and I know which I prefer.
As for price, the digital edition is only more expensive at the moment because of the 50% sale in the EON Store. Editor, EON magazine |

I understand the desire to be cautious, but there are other ways to prevent people from sharing copies, namely things like adding the buyer's name to each and every page of the document. That way it's very easy to figure out who uploaded their copy to, say, rapidshare.
For me, a format that is limited to a handful of platforms and that will become inaccessible when the DRM service du jour stops working is completely unacceptable and, if at all, certainly not worth a price that's even just somewhat close to the price of the print edition.
But hey, if you feel that keeping people from sharing your magazine with their buddies is more important than acquiring new subscribers, who am I to argue. darmwand Repossession Agent http://www.repo-corp.net/ Recruitment is OPEN |

I'll perhaps give the new store a shot and see what happens. I did the 50% turkey day sale and I still feel like the shipping costs put a real damper on that sale. The worst part was waiting over three weeks to get my order. Be that as it may, I'd still buy more hard copies and other products if not for the high shipping costs. |

Its very funny that you make the same mistake all the big players make even though you are catering to a very geeky/spergy community.
I suppose the question which format one prefers on his tablet is dependend on the OS, the apps to view pdf etc.
The reason why you choose a 3rd party provider is that it takes all the work from you (building an payment/deliviery system etc). The customer pays the premium for that.
I will never buy content that is limited to a certain plattform because if you want to use an device thats not supported by the plattform you are **** out of luck. Thats the beauty of PDFs!
Better make its plain pdfs and maybe even cooperate with CCP to allow the payment with PLEX. |

Not sure if Zapatero will see this but I was highly considering subbing and getting the box of 26 issues. Downside is even though say you accept paypal and many other payments you seem to only accept 2 and paypal is not one of them. |

I tried the preview of the digital format to see if I liked it, I really don't. I can't just scroll through the magazine. I turn a page, then I have to zoom in, then scroll around as I'm reading, turn the page, zoom back in...
My solution was going to be to just print it to PDF, but despite the fact that the option is there, every time I try it crashes shockwave. Not sure if this is a problem with the preview or what.
I've never read the magazine, mostly because of shipping cost and my own financial shoestrings. I was looking forward to a digital edition that might be cheaper, but I just don't like the current form. Sorry. |
