That's logical, since you should be looking for the "all users" application settings, not your personal ones.
Vista should be (just guessing):

Just change the name then. If you lose all your settings you can just name it back and not play. Fwiw I haven't lost any settings doing this.
Also one issue can be spread across many files, it's rarely just one line of code that needs altering.

I THINK CCP SHOULD LET ALL USERS KNOW OF THIS WORK AROUND AS I ASSUME THERE IS USERS WHO DON@T KNOW HOW TO GET BACK ON ONLINE WHO DOWNLOADED THE FIRST CORRUPT PATCH

Could log in fine before this patch.
EDIT: deleting the CCP folder from the ProgramData folder did do the trick though :).

I think this patch is pretty ironic, since it was done so that everybody could log in fine and it ended up making MORE people unable to log-in. Thanks CCP. _______________

Finally worked after I found the correct folder in XP. It is the one in .../all users/ not the one in your account that needs to be deleted. Wonderful job by the QA people. Wonder how long it will take some others to figure this out

Vista 32bit, patched during downtime.
EDIT: Disregard that I slurple the purple. The above Vista fix works.

Renaming c:\documents and settings\all users\ccp got it to work in x32 vista, of course first you have to remove the default deny permission to let you in.

Agreed. Epic Fail. I'm off to play another online game, getting pretty tired of these downtimes. Who knows? Maybe I'll have enough fun that it won't be worth coming back.
Good luck, hope you can log in before tomorrow.

You guys gotta stop letting the trainees near the live code FFS thats twice in 3 months a patch has made the game unplayable without the user having to do things and go places on thier computer that they may not be comfortable or have the knowledge, granted this time it aint gonna cost some clueless types stupid amounts of money but JESUS H (you know the rest) incompetance is becoming rampant at CCP and it's been on the decline for a long time. -------------------------------------------

Edited by: Henry Loenwind on 19/02/2008 15:26:40 just find a file named "compiled.code" and delete that one. That's it.
PS: not the one in the script subfolder of the EVE installation, that is the correct one.

Got the same problem. I still get the "Incompatible (protocol)" Why is it ALWAYS something wrong when theres a new patch?

Ok i finaly got the client to come up but now its coming up with incorect protocol i tried to patch it and nothing which is starting to f*** me off we pay for a game and then you let incompetent people play with live code and compleatly nerf it and secondly you let a CCP mod traul the foruim and we ask for and what happens he locks all the thread and tells us to go to the thread that dont give no help
