hello there,
I quite frequently visit enemy POS's with my MS and a few of my corpies in Dreads, now i have come to the conclusion that when i seige a POS with nothing but Large guns on it i feel safer then i do when i assault a POS with nothing but small guns on it, I think this might be in need of a fix,
What i think that can be fixed..
Large Guns need faster lock time.. and maybe their damage modifier upped from 48x to maybe 70x.

I thought that it was made this way for gun damage : -4 small guns take the ressources of a large one and do the same damage -2 medium guns take the ressouces of a large one and do the same damage
So, it's all about the locking time of large guns? -- Pocket drone carriers (tm) enthousiast !

So, it's all about the locking time of large guns?
If 2 medium take same resources and deal same damage, while would I use a large one?
This is all wrong. A POS with only large guns should be able to shred a dreadnaught, on the cost of being unable to hit smaller ships.

4 small guns = 2 medium guns = 1 large gun in terms of resources and DPS. The difference is that with large guns you get a higher alpha (deadly if guns are manned) and a longer range. Yes, 4 small guns do just as much DPS, but a sniper fleet can comfortably sit outside of their range. --- Honest officer, the dwarf was on fire when I got here! I hope the item database is up to date, so here are the stats :
Large railgun battery : 360k pwg => ROF 14.35, dmg mod 40 (2.787), ammo XL, range 300 km falloff 150km
Medium railgun battery : 180k pwg => ROF 9.56, dmg mod 27 (2.824), ammo L, range 225 km falloff 112km => shorter range, 2 medium make more damage than a large!
Small railgun battery : 90k pwg => ROF 6.38, dmg mod 18 (2.821), ammo M, range 150 km falloff 75km => shorter range, higher tracking, 4 small make more damage than a large, but slightly less than two mediums.
So, here are the values...
It all depends on the gun placement and the attacking ship placement. Also, higher tracking with lower signature resolution may have an effect on hit statistics... -- Pocket drone carriers (tm) enthousiast !

Edited by: Gaogan on 19/02/2008 19:52:54 They really need to fix this already. Assuming a large slow target, all large guns should do more damage than all medium guns. It is absurd to give up tracking and sig resolution and lock time if you don't get more dps out of it.
Proposal: lower fitting requirements of medium guns by 15% and large by 30%.

Exactly... they are SUPPOSED to hurt capitals. Right now the only thing they are good for is shooting bs that are also webbed and scrammed under a pos gunner's control, and the only reason you would prefer a large to two mediums is because of the limited number of guns you can control.
If you gave them more damage they would hurt bs more, which isn't really what they are intended for, so they should just have lower fitting requirements so you can load up on plenty of them to scare capitals more, and their combined firepower might make capitals blink. Or maybe give them more damage, but also nerf the tracking and sig res some more.

Large Turret Batteries work very well when used along with Energy Neutralizer Batteries. |

5 large AC+ a couple of neut batteries will easilly kill your dread before the siege cycle ends.

Khem. NOPE. Dreads in siege mode CANNOT be: scambled, webbed, remote sensor dampened, jammed, tracking disrupted AND remote sensor boosted, remote ECCMed, remote tracking linked, remote REPPED and remote SHIELD BOOSTED
edit: to the OP - indeed, large guns need to get some love too...
