I'm puzzled. So we now had 8 hours downtime total in 2 days just to fix a rare issue where people weren't able to type in their login credentials?

Just like to chime in that, while I was not subject to the problems that led to yesterday's patch, I have been able to just fire up the eve client, patch, and jump right in.
If it helps I run XP on a thinkpad T60, so that's one type of computer for which everything works just fine.
Hoping that other people get their stuff figured out soon __________________________________

I started the client, it informed me that i needed to install the new patch. Cliked ok, patcher ran, finished, and I clicked ok to restart the client. The little EVE window poped up, stayed up for longer than usual, then dissapered. Does this everytime, and the login screen never shows. Soooo Whats up??? Can anyone help me here? I tried restarting, results are the same. Please dont tell me I have to completely reinstall the client. That takes funukin forever! the only thing i havent tinkered with yet is my firewall, but that shouldnt be a problem as Norton allready has "rules" for the eve client and should automatically let it connect. Ill check on that and report back.

Haven't had any problems with 1.0.3. And I just want to thank CCP for bringing up the servers at least 15 minutes before 14:00 as I had requested!

It installed perfectly for me.
Best thing is to have 2 clients installed on 2 different partitions. One with the classic content and one with the premium one.
It seems that the premium one always fails, so if you encounter any problems patch the classic one 1st (it should work all the time) after that the premium one to overcome other issues.
1.02 killed my premium install, so i just copied the stuff that i needed from the classic one, worked perfectly.
To gain access to the application data folders you need to have hidden files to show.
Go to control pannel (select classic view) then to folder options then select show hidden and system files. (same stuff for xp and vista)
XP: like the GM said, documents and settings/username/Application Data/CCP/EVE VIsta: open my computer/users/your user/Local/App Data/CCP/EVE
The above ones are for the delliting stuff; BUT : Make sure you back up the folder somewhere to put back the trusted sites/overview and other stuff that you had saved. Basically it should be only "Browser" and "Settings". Those folders keep you trusted sites and overview.
If you have a firewall, make sure eve has permisions after you update it. Sometimes software tends to deny your stuff if it suffers any kind of chages/updates.
I hope this info helps you people. ----
I hope ccp will do something about these issues. I know the QA lead, but from mobile to PC, MMO testing .. it a long and different way :P

Originally by: Doc Hannibal Sh*t what's going on??? yesterday with patch 1.0.2 everything worked fine for me i loged in 10sec, market data was loading fast and i could load other people's portraits in a sec, now its all like it was before 1.0.2 patch! MAN when i try to sell something it takes a minute to load the sell screen i'll get a tumor or something becouse of this, do something
This.
1.02 came and I was like
Then 1.03 to fix the 1.02 (which for me was perfect and now
Back to ages to get the character selection screen to load. Looks like fun forever deploying to fix the earlier patch for one person and then break it for the next. Maybe we can all take it in turns to enjoy a nice build? Like a time share.

I just reinstalled the whole stuff from DVD that came with E-on magazine. It downloaded a 10 MB patch and restarted the game. Same problems as before on my desktop and laptop. The game hangs on character selection screen. Ctrl+alt+del are the only things that work. I had no problems whatsoever before patch .2 and .3 and now i can't even play anymore. This is getting really annoying. Hopefully there will be a fix soon because my three accounts are worthless right now.
Good tip for people who's clients crash too on login and char selection: dont bother to download the full client and reinstalling it. You will waste more than 1 GB of download doing so...

The only thing that would state the server unknown status would be your network status. I mean a firewall might block your client. Check your firewall or default windows firewall.
If you on vista, try to run the game with admin privilages..
What windows do you have, and do you have multiple partitions?
If by any chance you have dual boot, try installing the game on the other windows.

You know whats funny about all this.
1.02 was to fix an error "some people where having", (I knew no one with an error). When they deployed it, it made the error they were trying to fix, pop up for everyone. .. Ok They deploy 1.03 to fix there 1.02 that was going to fix this unknown error some people where having (more like 2 kids send it petitions saying they had an error or something)..
How well, 1/2 the people are getting errors from there 1.03 patch.. I small 1.04 tomorrow to fix something else and to break something else.
CCP you just want me to uninstall windows or something before one of your patchs does it for me?
Come on, I have two computers, just alike, down to the mouse used on it.
Same install, same patchs, same everythings, same settings.
1.03 work on one, and on the other broke 1/2 way through it.
Fix your game people. Its not hard to make a install, want me to fly down there to show you I make about 4 of them a day at work.. It really isn't that hard. Webhosting, teamspeak and Killboard for you, your corp, and your Alliance Click me for more info |

Patch feedback:
Linux official client= no issues on ubuntu 7.10
wine .9.55 1.02 > 1.03 = no issues ubuntu 7.10 running premium gfx.
wine .9.55 1.01 > 1.03 = n issues ubuntu 7.10 running premium gfx.
I will add here that I have never seen the incompatible protocol problem on these clients, nor did I have to do any of the suggested fixes for said issue.

Umm, no. First, the 1.0.2 fix was completely unrelated to the incompatible protocol bug. Second, the incompatible protocol bug only affected those who installed that patch in January that was later pulled. AFAIR the time window between seeding that patch and pulling it was like a few hours, so if you were unlucky enough to connect in that timeframe back in January you got the incompatible protocol after patching.
I had 2 installs, one of which was patched in Jan and affected, the other was not and worked well with 1.0.2 and 1.0.3 ù so the problem clearly didn't affect "everyone". --

I don't know now if this also the side effect of this last patch, but my EVE got a lot faster and quieter after this last 2 days patching. for weeks now EVE was quite hardcore stressing my harddrives (you know this annoying harddrive insane seeking/swapping noise when the disk is really fragmented) and now today after patching the computer was SILENT and smooth when starting EVE. not sure if you fixed this log-in issue, but at least you fixed SOMETHING (as unintentional side-effect?) that really bothered me for weeks now.

One wonders what the actual purpose of the, you know, TEST SERVER might be, given this kind of nonsensical patch mayhem.

I had this problem once. and you know what i did? i rebooted the program and it worked fine. this was not a problem, it was a small set back. This patch should have never been deployed.

*scratches head*
Don't know if this is a knew thing or not, but I noticed it today when trying to snap a shot for a bug report, but print-screen doesn't capture and dump a screenshot for me unless the client is full screen. I usually run windowed since I have dual displays, and I distinctly remember being able to snap shots in windowed mode.

I'm getting random disconnections with TQ after 1.0.3 and it's getting to the point where it starts to affect gameplay. Right now, I'm just monitoring to see if this issue persists for the next 48 hrs.
I'm aware of the other threads that suggest forwarding port 26000 as a possible solution, but my argument would be that it HAD worked flawlessly before. My own ISP issues? Plausible but what are the chances?? My own PC firewall issue? I don't use any firewall programs (inc Windows firewall), not necessary. The network's on NAT.
Anyone else here facing similar issues?
P.S If I have to touch my router - patch 1.0.3 = another EPIC fail from CCP

I would like the Devs to tell us when a patch is going to wipe out all our damn settings before we patch the client!
A little blurb - please backup the 'bookmarks folder so you don't have to spend 30 minutes recreating all your folders and moving your hundreds of bookmarks around" folder and the Overview setting folder! How about that? Huh? HUH?

OK, my ship is out in Drone space and I get booted from Eve Trinity. When I try to log back in I get this message: Could not connect to the specified address. Odds are that you have not established an internet connection, the server isn't running, or the server address or port number was wrong.
.....Which is funny cuz I was logged in for some time.
So tell me what do I do now? My Thrasher is out there with those nasty drones.....

And boom, right in the middle of a mission, Tranquility is gone again, so my storyline mission is going to be messed up because I can't connect...heck I can't even tracert to the server.
I think I'll wait on that full-year subscription I was planning.
