NOD32. AVG and Avast slowed down my computer (especially during boot ups and shut downs). NOD32 is much faster than them both.

www.virustotal.com To scan suspicious files.
Why would you want to bog down your computer with an antivirus? It's not like harddrives are good at concurrent random access.

don't use av, can't really justify using it except protecting windows users from anything that may be passed on. that's their problem.

The best anti virus is common sense... But if you like me, like to have a additional wall, (though I haven't got a virus for 2 years) use Nod32 or Kaspersky.

NOD32
I have enough common sense to keep myself safe without an AV software but a safety net is a Good Thing.

Dido on that. I use NOD32 but Bitdefender and Kaspersky I hear are pretty good too. I use AV software to actively prevent them from getting onto my system. If a virus slips through and infects my system I just reformat and reinstall but I haven't been infected in over 2 or 3 years so I don't worry about too much.

Hadn't run AV software for years now. If I suspect I've got a virus, I use an online scanner and if it finds anything, I have it remove the thing or I manually remove it. But yeah, as far as I know, the same AV's are still the good ones. AVG, advast, etc.
