I've seen this a few times in my life so I guess is a standard modus operandi for a water filter salesman. He will come for a demonstration and the first thing he requests is a glass full of water. He then proceeds to open a bag and set up a device they called "impurity detector" or "impurity precipitator" or similar. You look at the thing and notice is nothing more but a plain power supply. He then sticks two iron rods into the glass and connects them to the power supply with some cables and alligator clips. Soon, electrolysis takes place and one of the rods starts to oxidize. The iron oxide flakes quickly turn the drinking water into a brownish disgusting substance. And finally, the salesman says "Look at all the stuff that was in your water. This is what you have been drinking".
...and people buy it...

Regrettably the documentation is more of a man page and less of a friendly .pdf.

At the very beginning, when EVE was available in cd'n'box format, it did come with a manual (which was promptly made obsolete by few patches). Likewise, EVE is distributed as cd'n'box in China and has a manual (likewise made obsolete by now).

It scares me how downright stupid people can be sometimes.
I occasionally do Yahoo Answers sometimes when bored and the questions asked make your jaw drop. One of my favorites was, "How long does it take the moon to orbit the sun?" I mean c'mon...
Sometimes I really wish I was a more ruthless and less nice person. You could make a fortune off these people.

Aye. In Edinburgh we call it Tourist Baiting.
Basicly we tell anyone with an American accent where to find haggis on the side of Arthur's seat, I go cycling around there and the number of people you see with nets is ridiculous somethimes.
Note to self, set up net shop near Arthurs Seat.

The only accent more obvious than American is a French American, if you were here for a day you'd understand

I still have mine
"EVE offers players many ship types to choose. The five basic classes are:
Frigates Cruisers Industrial Ships Battleships Titans
Frigates can be up to 100 meters long, cruisers up to 400 meters, and battleships up to 1200 meters. Titans start at twice the size of battleships and increase from there."
Titans... which didn't appear in EVE for over 3 years

That is an ingenious idea to mess with people. The first time I've heard about that, props to water purifying salesmen. :D :D ----------------------

That's too easy. You're just preying upon ignorance of local customs (even made up ones). Could happen to anyone anywhere. Didn't CCP staff foist some nasty cuisine on FanFest goers?
Although in general people should have a BS meter that starts beeping in their head but if the local plays it well enough it's not too hard to get some unsuspecting sod to go along.

I told them a haggis was a 3 legged creature that ran around the hill clockwise because one of the legs was longer to keep it stable on one direction.
This is opposed to Haggis, which is actualy a sheep inside out in it's own stomach with spices and oats.....

They had titans in Beta AFAIK but they were NOTHING like the titans of today. Much smaller and looked more like flying Stations, plus had no DDD ability or XL weaponary. Pretty much Dread-sized anti-Battleship platforms more than anything, removed for gameplay reasons

The Solteuer and Leviathan were in beta, the Gallente and Minmatar titan, respectively. They were never really used though, and were at the time intended as fully functional mobile stations (i believe). I think the models and textures are still in the game files, somewhere.

There was an IG event involving either or both of them if I remember correctly. What do the history books say?
