As a result of the recent attacks on the miners all over eve in of all places empire. we should start a miners union. And propose a stike. Than we can see the prices of ships and cost of production go up due to demand but no supply. GoonSwam have destroyed over 35 billion worth of exhumers in 5 days that is just insane. the avg. miner doesnt make that much o begin with and to have to replace ships everyday they make nothing and loose months of money in just a few days. with all the training that goes into flying these ships, makes it no longer viable or worth the time. I mean paying 300+ for a battleship? that could be possible if this continues. majority of the low end minerals for most production is in high sec/empire space. Still no responce from concord on the situation. The time to act is now. Unite and put an end to the madness.

Work through them, don't change a single thing.
*edit* Well figure out how to beat the crap out of them in safesec and stop dieing.

Ok, economics 101: what happens if you strike? Two things:
1) All of your competition moves in to take your business, and profits nicely.
2) Prices go up a bit. The big alliances don't care, as they have internal logistics support. The smaller PvPers don't care, because while their costs go up, the value of the loot they get from each kill has gone up as well. The casual PvPers don't care, because while their costs go up, the PvE operations they use to support PvP are producing more ISK to compensate. The industrial players are in paradise, and will be making obscene profits as long as your strike continues. The only people who will care are the mission runners. Way to show those carebears how important you are!
At least you're looking in the right direction, instead of whining to CCP. But a strike just isn't going to do anything, if you want results, start shooting back.

As much as I hate agreeing with BoBbits, this is 100% true and facutally correct.
So please OP, do it. Because I'm in Group #1 in the example above, and I'd love to profit from #2. Please. Go on strike.

Then were is the 50 billion+ trit that comes from empire on a daily or weekly basis going to come from that empire miners mine? If u want a tip Im not a new character and know the eve economey well I been playing eve since 02. the market will fall and prices will rise. I hate to brake it but most of the player base in eve is in empire wheither you like it or not. Look at the writters guild strike and how much it cost the networks? The time is not to unite and end this. This is about suplly and demand. always a high demand for empire minerals but price is low. If you take away high supply someone has to mine these minerals and let me tell you mining is not nessicerally fun I do it because of RL contraints. When I have time i hop on my PVP char. and have some.

Turns out there actually is a character called Arthur Scargill ingame.
However, they don't appear to be active, so would be ineffective at leading a miner's strike.
Insinuates stuff about whether this is accurate or not in relation to the Arthur Scargill who led the British miners strikes and got the smackdown from the Thatcher government.

You must not read that well. I stated I have a main I PVP with I only mine when I RL issues to deal with while im playing eve. So assuming im just a carebear is incorrect unless someone is illiterate. This is actually a real issue and a lot of players do not even read the forums. So the whole fact of noobs in T1 ships killing T2 miners is completely stupid. This kinda thing will ruin the game for many people. If you havent checked out the link check it out below. Lots of exhumers kills and continues.

As long as you're all striking anyway, why not try that Mineswarm idea I suggested?
Roll up some PvP alts, get them into a corp and wtfnooblob any goons you see in Empire. You might as well, as long as you're not playing your mains, and it's got to be better than passively hoping the situation will right itself. What the hell, I'll even send you the ISK to create the corp and pay for a month's office rental in the hi-sec station of your choice.

Aren't mineral prices set by the macrominers anyway? I always thought macros far outmined people hence why mineral prices are so cheap. Miners would have more impact on pricing if they themselves suicide ganked the macros.

My fellow miners I approve of the OP. We must go for a general strike as proposed.
Many of my miner friends will think why they should be involved. They have not been affected! To this I can only give one reason. Today it has been us that lost a 200 mill ship, tomorrow it can be you losing a ship to these attacks. You have to be lucky every day every minute but the striking forces have to be lucky for just one moment. Do remember that to make up 200 mill in ISK a miner has to mine for at least 20 gaming hours. You can see we have no support from anybody neither CCP nor our player base of other alliances. They all have one opinion and that is, we in empire, hugging the veldspar, are low life that are meant to be slaughtered indiscriminately. They have termed their act as justified and glorified themselves by calling the act as jihad. Doing so they have degraded our honour and undermined our contribution. When we have protested against this insensitive killing they stifle it with EVE is only a PVP game, carebears live by sucking the life out of the poor, miners have no risk in empire, you should be in 0.0 rather than in empire, etc. So what do we do? We support each other. We cannot take up arms against them because we are very dispersed and they are a pack. Also that we havenĘt got PVP skills since we trained hard for science and industry skills. So only other way left for us is to pack our tools in our hangers. We stop mining. We do not supply the minerals to the market that does not acknowledge our worth. Cmon my miner friends lets stop getting belittled. Lets show them what we do and how important our contribution is to the whole of eve-community. If you do not participate in this movement you still will be termed a low life by the PVPers/alliances who will do Jihad to wipe out your existence.
Next question for us would be how to go about conducting this strike? *Let us spread this message to all our miner friends in each region and every solar system. *We also would request for help from our ISD news servicedesk to broadcast this appeal so that every miner comes to know about it. My suggested steps are.. 1) For all this to happen properly we all need to decide on a date when our decision hammer will strike. 2) On that day we cancel all our active buy / sell orders from the market and escrow. 3) We do not mine for the period of strike. 4) We carry on other activities that will give us direct ISK to help support our ISK requirement.
Final word..
Our destiny and pride is in our hands. If you do not not care about it nobody will.
My suggested Start Date for our strike is 13th March 2008 and End Date is 1st May 2008 (our May Day).

Er... so unite and combine, then. Create PvP alts - you can be reasonable effective in a T1 frigate in a week, and in a cruiser in 2 weeks if you pick the right starting skills. Kestrels, Incurses, Tristans, Rifters, Blackbirds, Thoraxes, Ruptures... let your revenge fleet blot out the sun. With plat insurance and T1 first, the cost of your losses will be negligible, and you're on strike so your time is free. No need even to worry about being podded if you're flying a 1.5M SP alt. It doesn't matter if you lose 5 to their 1, or 10 or even 20 because your losses will be meaningless.
Go on, just do it, I dare you.
I double dare you. Give me a reason why not.
