Hello,
I have just started with eve and I got some answered questions. 1) what does it mean that some of the buyers on marked window are highlighted green? 2) recently I was about to "advanced buy" larger amount of stuff and I could not. I could see just escrow deducted form my account but I never received goods and could not see it in my market orders as well. I have a suspicion that this has something to do with my trading skills. That I can trade just certain amount. But how much I have no idea...
thank you |

The green highlighted ones are the ones that have a buy range that you're in. So if you sell something where you're at, they could conceivably buy it because you can set a buy range up to however many jumps or a whole region.
You can only have a certain number of orders active at a time. I'm not exactly sure what you're asking. Could you clarify?
Also, there is a Market Discussion forum that could probably help you more.

Hi,
thanks for a reply.
2) what I meant is that I wanted to buy tritanium for about 2M. I went to the station and and I filled out advanced buy order. The buy order was lower than average 2.50 . I pressed OK and I just heard that error sound. I looked into my wallet and escrow was deducted from my account something about 22K ISK . Than I looked into my orders and no order was there. It is possible that I did something wrong. I tried that two times with the same result.

If you place a buy order it means that you will be buying that specific item on the market. So anyone who comes along and wants to sell his/her trit. to you can do so. Once a buy order is placed it deducts the amount from your account that the buy order will end up costing you. You will receive the goods once someone sells their items to you. If you want to cancel the order and get your isk back go into your wallet and click the "orders" tab ten you should see your buy order there and all you have to do is right click and hit cancel order. xD

Setting up a buy order doesn't magically condense the items you want to buy out of the ether; it just creates an order that people can sell to if they happen to be in range and selling that item. And if you put a buy order up at a stupid amount, e.g. notably lower than the region average, nobody is going to want to sell it to you at that price.
AFAIK, the system automatically attempts to match buy orders with available sellers, but if nobody's selling the goods at the price you want to buy, the order will just sit there until someone comes along and does want to sell at that price.
