We take a look here at the various ships used in the opening three days of the tournament, with a focus on the classes fielded, as well as a look into how well represented each empire has been so far.

MINMATAR
Minmatar ships have made a small showing this year, the least represented race of major empire ships. So far theyÆve only constituted 11% of those fielded.
There has been much discussion on the weakness of Matari technology in the situational battlefields of the tournament arenas, and much of it holds some weight. Some have pointed to their versatility, arguing that in the arenas specialization is more desirable. Others have pointed out that one of the great Matari battle philosophies û hit and run û is simply not possible considering that there can be no running. It is perhaps true that skirmish warfare has played a lesser role in the matches so far.
Were it not for the Griffin however, which has been fielded in huge amounts, the Vigil would take pride of place as the Tech I frigate of choice for tournaments. It is indeed true that this vessel, combining speed and target painting assistance for larger ships, has been used quite effectively so far. Additionally, the Rifter has seen frequent fielding, almost ten times. Presumably it has been fielded for much the same reasons as the Vigil sometimes has been û speed and hence, survivability against larger weapons. The Vigil and Rifter have been the 2nd and 4th most popular frigates respectively.
The Rupture has been the most popular Minmatar ship so far, valued for its cheap points cost and sizeable alpha-strike, useful for wiping support vessels off the field.
As one might expect, the prominent freedom-fighting alliance UshraÆKhan has fielded a significant amount of Matari ships. 7 of the 20 Ruptures used so far have borne the UNITY tag. TheyÆve not been chained to simply Minmatar ships however, and have supplemented their teams with Caldari and Gallente technology to great effect.
AMARR
Amarrian vessels have been fielded in decent numbers so far, bolstered by a handful of ships that have proved incredibly popular. They currently are the 3rd most used race amongst the major empires and constitute 17% of the total ships fielded.
Logistics have proved particularly potent this year, particularly when fielded in pairs. The capacitor and armor transfer optimization on the Guardian have helped make them the most popular logistics vessel and the third most popular vessel overall, being fielded 41 times (thatÆs 6% of the total ships fielded). This has raised the numbers of Amarrian ships fielded greatly.
In second place amongst Amarrian ships is the Abaddon which has also been used to great effect, being fielded 18 times. The huge EM alpha-strike on them has proved lethal, particularly to Caldari ships which have been fielded in abundance. Their sturdy armor tank, logistics capability and generous drone bay have helped solidify them as the second most popular battleship of this tournament, taking place behind the Megathron.
The third most popular Amarrian ship, and the most popular recon of the tournament has been the Curse, which has proved invaluable in breaking down the logistics chains making frequent appearances. The CursesÆ powerful capacitor warfare systems have been rounded out by high sensor strengths, versatile damage in the shape of drones, decent maneuverability and small signature radius, making them a very popular addition to many teams.
One of the more memorable uses of Amarrian technology so far has been the United Legion Vs Hun Reloaded match, where Abaddons simply tore past the famous Basilisk and Manticore formation. Unable to repair their bombers in enough time before another volley of EM damage hit, the reigning champions found themselves losing Manticores rapidly. The dual Rooks of Exa Nation found themselves in similar trouble against a ruthless dual-Abaddon team.

GALLENTE
The popularity of drones and high-damage blasters this tournament has helped see the Gallente race rise to the second most popular amongst the major empires. Their ships constitute 30% of the total fielded so far.
The Thorax has by far been the most popular cruiser of the tournament in the first three days, being fielded a whopping 64 times (thatÆs a huge 9.5% of the total ships used). It is currently the second most popular ship of the entire tournament. Lai Dai technicians, who place a great amount of pride in the versatility of their ships, must be watching on in envy as the Gallente Thorax outdoes them at their game. The amazing versatility of the Thorax cruiser has made it a fearsome and unpredictable predator in the arenas. Heavily plated or heavily armed? ECM drones or additional damage output? Nosferatu or not? These are just some of the questions those up against the Thorax have had to ask themselves, and highlight just how spoilt for choice Thorax captains are.
Supplementing the drone fleets of the Federation are the Ishtar and Dominix, which are the 2nd and 5th most popular Gallente ships respectively. Offering the same versatility in fitting and choices, these two ships have seen frequent use. The Ishtar is currently the 6th most used ship and easily the most fielded Heavy Assault Cruiser.
Rounding out the Gallente ships fielded are the Megathron and the big brother of the Thorax, the Deimos, which are the 3rd and 4th most popular Gallente ships. The Deimos takes second place as the most popular HAC, behind the other Gallente HAC the Ishtar. The Megathron has been the most popular battleship so far, bringing immense damage and versatility to battleships captains who have often used it with great effectiveness.
CALDARI
Sitting well above the other three races, Caldari vessels have enjoyed a frequent showing in this yearÆs tournament, constituting almost half of the vessels fielded at 41% of the total.
Helping hugely to boost their numbers is the unassuming Griffin, both the most popular frigate and the most popular vessel fielded so far. It has been fielded an enormous 85 times (thatÆs 12.5% of all ships fielded so far). At an average of 1.7 being fielded for every match, they are clearly a desired asset on the field. Frigates are a common addition to most teams, used to round out their points total. Given the choice of frigates available and the effectiveness of electronics warfare in this yearÆs tournament, it is little surprise that team captains have had their members hopping into Griffins. Whether coupled with other electronics-warfare vessels or as a supplementary, distracting force alongside combat ships, they have proved a fearsome addition to any team.
The second most popular Caldari vessel has been the Manticore, which is easily the most popular Stealth Bomber, and the 4th most fielded ship so far with 39 appearances. Providing a powerful alpha strike and a mean shield tank when combined with Basilisks, the Manticore has made a solid appearance this time around, a tribute to the reigning champions HUN Reloaded who used them so effectively last year.
The third most popular ship of the Caldari race has been the Basilisk, which is considered to be the shield-tanking alternative to the Amarrian Guardian. It is currently the 5th most popular ship of all fielded so far, having made 38 appearances in the arenas so far.
In number four position is the humble Caracal, the second most popular cruiser of the tournament so far. Cheap in points and effective in numbers, the Caracal has been fielded 24 times and has frequently been seen besides other missile ships, adding to what is usually an impressive stream of missiles.

Oh there's going to be the odd error, I forgot to put the same disclaimer here as in the other stats thread.
It's more or less correct however, which is good enough for this reporter, and hopefully good enough for you all. We treat our writing differently, let me note.
It's just meant to provide a rough overview of everything, not be a flawlessly accurate account of it.
My maths professor once had me sent to a Doctor to make sure the left side of my brain hadn't been left out at birth. Results came back inconclusive; I couldn't remember the correct street number and ended up reading a newspaper under a nice big tree instead.

Just out of pure schadenfreude, would you happen to have the stats on the survivability of the ships?
IE, out of 40 guardians fielded, how many were left standing at the end of the fight?
It'd be interesting to see which ships were most likely to go pop
(for a bonus: how many ships got popped, based on being on the winning team vs being on the losing team)

You really didn't need to post these stats... I'm sure that there are number crunchers on every alliance team trying to calculate their way to success.
That said, thanks for posting them stats mate. It's on everyone's mind when an alliance tourney is being held. Things like "I don't see any Minny ships around" or "There are too many Caldari heavy teams around" are things you hear regulary from the commentators. Posts like this keep EVERYBODY informed, not just the number crunchers on the participating alliances.
I think your analysis on WHY certain race-ship-types where being fitted where SPOT on. Excellent post. I only hope you make another post next week. Thanks again, and I hope to hear from you next week.

Something to think about for next year might be listing the pilot in each fight or just a total for each team or something.
