Am cross-training to amarr right now, but given the boost patch, should i train minmatar guns or lasers for use with the amarr ships?
I understand that the boost patch is primarily aimed at increasing projectile damage, with a small boost to laser damage added.
So what should i use on amarr ships with the minmatar boost, lasers or projectiles?

Go with lasers. I have been amarr for ever and frankly, I have always fitted laser and will continue to fit them to my ships with the lone exception of the Sacrilege.

Lasers. Unless you're shooting at Angels or something. Then, just find something else to shoot at.

Dont understand why my question is trolling?
The boost patch appears to boost projectile guns by a similar amount as would have been gained by a ship bonus to projectile damage.
Add to this the huge number of low slots on amarr ships allowing for easy fitting of a projectile damage mod or two, leaving all that nice cap for neutralizers and tanking.
Some people were fitting projectiles to amarr ships before this patch. How can it not make even more sense now?
Furthermore, projectiles are the racial gun of unhittable nanoships, making them viable guns for at least two races.
Im about to train an entire racial gunnery tree from the start, and cant make my mind up whether it should be lasers or proectiles, so objective answers would be very much appreciated.

If you're training for Amarr, train Lasers. Almost all their ships have bonuses to Lasers of some kind, and as long as your cap skills are at a decent (well, ok, max them out) level you'll be fine.
Also, Lasers look so freakin' awesome.

Edited by: Jasai Kameron on 10/03/2008 18:00:56 Look at the battleships if you need more of an illustration.
Has anyone ever fit projectiles on a Geddon? It's a gank ship and a good gank ship at that, with two bonuses that apply to lasers, and would be useless with projectiles.
Then you've got the Apoc which could arguably be better with projectiles - because one of its bonuses was multi-purpose (cap battery bonus) and the other reduced cap, whereas projectiles are cap free anyway. Now, however, the Apoc's cap bonus is inbuilt and its going to be one of the best snipers in the game thanks to a new optimal range bonus - unless, of course, you fit projectiles on it, in which case it will be rubbish. Both bonuses now affect lasers only.
And then the Abaddon - theoretically this would be the only one left that makes any sense to fit with projectiles, because only one of two bonuses directly relates to lasers. However, in practice, no. That damage bonus to lasers is darn useful and you've already got a fair tank anyway, so a projectile Abaddon would just be pitiful in comparison to what a laser one can do.
If you train Amarr gunships and don't train lasers, you're a fool. Sorry, but that's the truth. Lasers are finally being fixed. The Zealot and the Apoc are going to be good laser ships again. And you're considering fitting projectiles on them? Not going to work.

The only ships you would think of fitting projectiles on are the Punisher, Maller, and Prophecy after the patch. It would free up fitting and cap, but the ships above aren't really all that good (except for the punisher). If you train lasers you open up the better Amarrian Ships (Geddon, Abaddon, Zealot, etc.).
