Greetings Players and Game Level Designers,
Forgive me if this topic has been discussed before, but I have come across what I believe to be an oversight in the level designs for level one missions. On several occasions, I will get an agent mission which directs me to a DED deadspace ancient acceleration gate. I am flying a buzzard covert ops ship. When I activate the gate, I get a message that states that the gate will accept frigates, destroyers, cruisers, but not my buzzard. Logically, from a technical standpoint, the gates should operate on a tonnage restriction, not a restriction of ship type. Another words, nothing over cruiser size would be allowed, for instance. But somehow, the gate distinguishes between a buzzard and a heron, which are basically one and the same ship, minus advanced cloaking technology. To say that it somehow senses the cloaking device aboard ship would be ridiculous as a regular frigate so equiped would still pass. To distinguish between the two is pure folly as I donĘt think the ancients, knew the difference between a Heron and a Buzzard. This same gate lets cruisers through without a problem.
So here I am, mission accepted, timer running, and now I have to go back to station to purchase a frigate and modules, to complete the quest. This is completely arbitrary and should be corrected in an upcoming update. Those who do not have a lot of money, or multiple ship assets scattered through the universe, would have to default on the mission, or in the least, take the time hit and miss out on the time reward bonus while they hunt down, purchase and outfit another ship from scratch.
Gentlemen, a frigate is a frigate. Whether it is covert ops, assault, electronic attack, or interceptor. These acceleration gates are simply gravometric sling shots to overcome a spacial anomoly. They can't be that picky from an AI perspective. Please make these gates tonnage restricted instead of ship type accepted. It would fit the lore and roll playing aspect of the game, as well as make perfect sence from a technological standpoint as well. A great deal of customer frustration could be eliminated with this simple change.
Best wishes, Bear
