Grinding rep from L2 missions in my caracal was starting to get a little boring so I decided to get my trusty Arbitrator out from the back of the hangar. My skills have improved greatly from the last time I flew it, and I cant quite decide how to fit it out. After a bit of equipment swapping last night I finally ended up with:
High: 2 x Medium Beam, 1 Small NOS, 1 x Heavy Missile Launcher Med: 1 x 10MN AB, 2 x Tracking Disruptor, 1 x Cap Recharger Low: 1 x Medium Armor Repairer, 1 x 400mm Plate, 2 x Cap Power Relay
Drones: Mainly light/medium drones (with a couple of heavies for good measure)
My plan is to to snipe enemies with missiles / beams / drones from 40km (using the AB to get range), whilst using the disruptors to reduce damage to drones or myself. Is this likely to be a viable tactic - or will I need to swap the (AB + Cap Recharger) for a (MWD + Cap Injector) to be able to stay at range more easily?
Thanks for any advice.

Ok thats a terrible setup for missions. What do you need the TDs for? Also a plate in a mission setup? Why lasers, this ship doesn't get any bonuses to it?
Lvl2 missions setup arbi:
low: 1xT2 Med Rep. 3xHardeners of choice.
Med: 1xT2AB 1xT2Large Cap Battery. 2xT2Cap Rechargers
High: 2xTractor Beams 2xSalvegers.
Drone Bay: Just put in a lot of Small and Med Drones of appropriate damage type. You will be fighting Frigs/Cruisers, not BSes you don't need heavy drones.

Passive shield-tanked arbi also works really well for level 2 missions. You can use a ridiculously unsubtle 4 x LSE, 4 x SPR setup that should see you through just about any mission and mean you have a little cap left to run tractors/salvagers. 3 x LSE and an invuln field is actually a better tank - and against Sansha or Bloods, 2 x LSE, EM hardener, Therm hardener gives the best sustainable tank.
Though to be honest with 20k effective shields from the 4 x LSE setup, you should have taken out most/all of the rats before your shields get anywhere near their peak recharge.

In the same sentence you ask why I have lasers fitted (given no ship bonus) and then ask why I fitted the TD (which has a dedicated ship bonus)! Talk about contradictory
Regarding the lasers - I have a salvaging alt who flies in just behind the carnage Im causing - so fitting tractors or salvagers doesnt really buy me anything extra on the mission. Whereas fitting two medium beams and a Heavy Missile Launcher gets me lots of extra dps at 50km :-)
With a tracking script the disruptors are currently giving me 50% effect PER TD against each target. Against long range targets attacking my drones this will reduce the amount of damage the drones take. Against targets close in to me this will reduce the damage I take. Either way I dont appear lose a huge amount by fitting them - especially as the ships designed to use them! (I did consider adding extra shield or cap regen in the mids - but it seemed a shame to waste skill points in Cruiser V if im not using the ship bonuses)!
Regarding the plate - the idea with this setup is to be at 40km range for most of the time (and therefore not taking much if any damage except on warp-in). Fitting one 400mm plate gives me an extra 30% armor HP if I do get hit - whereas fitting hardeners eats up 3 full slots I could otherwise use.........
However the idea that the second poster raised - of fitting nothing but shield extenders and rechargers does sound quite interesting.

My setup (from memory, as I'm away from the game):
Highs: beamlaser beamlaser heavymissile dronerangemodule Mids: afterburner dronespeedmod dronetrackingmod (?) Lows: armorplate mediumrepper activerathardener (?)
The two modules I can't remember may have been a cap recharger and some kind of passive armor module like EANM. With the augmented drone range/speed/tracking my three waves of medium T1 drones destroy pretty much everything in L2 missions. I only use the turrets for aggro now, and should probably switch two of them out for TB/salvage.

Im not entirely sure if this is the work of a madman or genius - but I end up with a 10k perma-tank against almost all L2 missions. Now I just need to improve my drone dmg to speed missions up :-)
And the great thing is this setup is fairly low SP - so new players can enjoy its benefits!
