API hosed, quickbar hosed, resolutions hosed, alt hosed, and now having a graphical issue on classic graphics which causes a blinking area of distorted pixels.....
I thought this was supposed to be a "BOOST" patch?
Opinions reflected on my posts are just that, my opinions. They do not reflect views held by my corp or alliance. |

On the skillsheet there is now a right-click option to buy a skill or add it to the market quickbar. Very sensible idea and really useful ... *except* ... it only appears on skills you are already training (and hence have already bought!) and not on the skills you haven't where, clearly, it would be of actual use!
Any possibility of either switching it over or making it available on all entries?

I just logged on and did a bit of running around, everything seems to be in good shape. Hey CCP 2 things you should keep in mind: 1) if you rush things something can and will go wrong 2) If you dont get proper sleep and rest you can and will make very bad errors. Well in any case I just wanted to say that EVE is unlike anything I have ever played and it is worthy of praise. Keep up the good work guys.

First, wonderful game and thank you for creating such an entity. Second, when deploying any software onto thousands, much less tens of thousands, of individual computers, you simply can not anticipate every problem that every single computer could possibly have with your software. I have worked in the computer industry for almost 20 years (read i386). Jobs have included everything from programming to system/server administration and software deployment for Fortune 500 companies. So there! My qualifications have been explained :P
Computer lock-ups, crashes, video driver issues. These can all be easily accepted as that particular computer FINALLY had a problem with one, or more, of its installed pieces of software. And the Eve client was part of that. However, I can not believe the types of rampant, blatant (i.e. white elephant), bugs that are evident from the recent client update got past even the most basic of testing scripts.
So, nobody at CCP experienced faulty Overview Tabs or window positioning errors upon undocking over the past few weeks? EVER?!? Or, the best one I've seen this round, all preferences disappearing upon "patching" the client? I don't care where you move preference files, or what new folder you put them in. Just make them work please. If you change a piece of code relating to, say, the Overview window. Then test the Overview window. Then test it again. And, just to make sure, have someone in Accounting test it one last time to see if they can get it to work.
Singularity: I've never been on it. Does it even function as a workable test platform? Is it even synchronized to the live, active, set of software that we all use? It seems to me like Singularity is some sort of bastardized, patched, hacked, updated hourly, piece of software that CCP uses for deploying the real-world client. How about a "real" test environment? One that is IDENTICAL to the live, real world, client in use. One that any new college graduate working as a "Software Tester" could actually use to discover MAJOR issues like Boot.ini getting wiped out. Yeah, that was a fun time....not!
And lastly, deployment of software on a server. This happens to be the very first time playing an MMO (yes, ever!). The only question I have regarding this subject is how are updates handled on other MMO games like EQ, WOW, etc...? Do these games go "off-line" an hour a day (every day) for "maintenance?" Yes, it's true server outages, be them medical industry or a Blackberry related (as mentioned on original boost patch posting), do happen. But these are not planned, much less anticipated! And, these type of outages are solved at light speed or someone, somewhere, will lose a job, if they have not already. Period!
"Thank you for your interest in Google.com. We are sorry for the inconvenience, but we are backing up, upgrading, and restoring our server software all at the same time right now. This process 'should' be completed within the next 24 hours (sometime). But with one-hundred thousand computers all around the world, this may take longer than our IT department anticipated. Please check back here every 30 minutes as we may have an additional apology to display on this page. We really hope you come back to our place of business."
Out of all of the cash registers, ATM's, inventory management and data acquisition computer systems in the world, CCP's computers are the only ones that can not stay up and running twenty-four hours a day.........IN A ROW!!! It's almost like they take pride in the fact that their computer hardware/software is sooooooo complicated and sooooooo expansive that we should all cheer when servers go off-line because that assures us the utmost quality. Yes, this is just a game. But until this game is free (as in beer), then I think a little higher standard should be expected.
[/me speaking like redundant commercial] "Eve Online: you pay for the whole year, but you only get to use (most) parts of it when we say you can.

Really? My windows still pop to the middle of the screen. Actually, everything I noticed that was broken or weird yesterday, is exactly as broken or weird today. It seems nothing much, except the rookie missions, has been fixed to me.

All i can say is the testing on this patch could have done with more.....
Why the mass amount of bugs and why werent these found on the test server..
This is basic eve stuff that is buged and alot of it.
just roll the server back of this nasty patch and redeploy it when it works not bring out a half made patch which ruins eve for months upon end while you try and hotfix it. |

Now I got it to work again, EVEMON!
Had tried reset cache, create new API Keys (copy/paste from notepad) but still didnt find anything.
To Solve it I Had to right-click on update icon to the right, the one that is flashing coz it cant get information, choose "change API Key", paste API Key again and now its working, found all my skills and information.
Weird!

Hey There! Just wanted everyone over there to know that EVE Rocks and all seems well with your new patch! All my corp members seem to enjoy whisking away from a star base!I play off Crapy computers with a basic dsl internet conection split 4 way, 756 ram 1.2 gig athelon, 128megs graphics @ 800x600 resolution although I need to switch resolution to buy clones and place bounty, and move my 8th weapon slot, but your game is so versitile that even now that has been fixed through drag and drop, and shortcut miricles ;) Thanks Eve! Thank you founder! and thank you all you hard Working pizza fueled souls, and all you Volunteer Angels Outhere, Thank you so much for bringing my broken family back together again through this marvelous "reality" we all call EVE, For now my friends man leaves the realities of his mortal coil behind and is limited only to his dreams, In an age where many will die from lack of inspiration, Eve has provided new hopes and dreams, new alliances, new co-opratives, new families, and finaly more friends, in a world where loneliness has never before been such an issue...Eve is a sanctuary refuge......Now the ones that ***** codes and dare to dream (wink!)Stop being beings....and start becoming GODS.....enough said I rest my case. FFS, what does it take? It was raised on the test server, bug reports were filled out. At least one person brings it up in every single patCh thread. Let me try using caps and swearing cos I do not know what else to do if CCP are just going to keep skipping over it. Start by at least acknowledging this bug exists!
THE SERVERS HAVE BEEN OFFLINE FOR TWO ENTIRE EVENINGS THIS WEEK AND THE ******* INTERFACE IS STILL ******. EVERYTIME I UNDOCK OR CHANGE SESSION THE WINDOWS ALL CLUSTER UP. THIS ALSO HAPPENS TO OTHERS WHEN THEY OPEN CONTAINERS OR JOIN FLEETS. HAVING TO MOVE THE ENTIRE INTERFACE OUT OF THE WAY EVERY SINGLE JUMP IS ******* ANNOYING TO THE POINT IT MAKES THE GAME UNPLAYABLE. IT WORKED ON MONDAY, ON WEDNESDAY YOU ****** IT UP, IT IS SATURDAY NOW, FIX IT!

ie. im personally losing between 11-13hours of training due to this DT. 15:00 game time = im @ work and unable to change skills until i get home so where some people might lose a couple hours im losing half a day of training. not cool..
What the hell is wrong with you people...no matter when they announce the DT, SOMEONE is going to whine about the fact that they were asleep. Grow up.

After reading 6 pages of pure whining (few posts excluded) i have a feeling my head is going to explode People are trying to fix the game so you might get a more enjoyable experiance, so try being supportive for a change. Sure, we all want our daily fix of EVE, but have some patience for the love of whatever you believe in...
That being said, hope the patching'll be done soon
you acctualy read all 6 pages? :) if i wanted to hear that much moaning id tell the gf im going out with the lads tonight
Ok, i lied, i read 7x% in hope of finding out something useful. Noone could take all 100% of that crap :D
Haha, I actually read 100% of this forum. All 6 pages. At first I started agreeing with all of the ppl who are asking for compensation for the downtime. Then the issue of the eula is a open and shut case. No compensation. OK, I signed it, so be it. I do actually have a r/l.
Then I paid attention to those who have significant errors after the patch. My advice to you, from a software engineer developing for a client-intensive, live system is, file a bug report. Be detailed, be specific, and test it thoroughly to make sure it could not possibly be on your side.
This is not uncommon. I'm not asking you to "do CCP's job". I'm asking you to be a good customer and inform the company, in a professional manner, what isn't working in their product.
Trust me, a software engineer who sees a bug that says, "Alt-tab doesn't work anymore." is going to look at it and immediately disregard it. He'll say, "It works on the 12 machines here, I need more information."
Provide your system specs. Hardware/OS version/video driver version/etc. All these things will help them narrow down exactly what is causing the errors. If you can, also provide the settings you are currently using.
If this is a visual problem, i.e. graphics, include screenshots. If it is an error message, Include, verbatim, the error message, or a screenshot of it.
All I'm saying is more detail is better.
I'm not saying that none of you have any right to complain. You do. But complain in a productive, professional manner, and someone might actually appreciate it. It's called "Constructive Criticism."
Hopefully someone found this helpful.

But like a bunch of spoiled children, you don't take the few extra seconds it takes to re-arrange your UI when you dock and instead decide to ***** about it.
ROFLMAO The game is COMPLETLY UNPLAYABLE at 4 fps and every time you tab to something besides eve the game locks up and you have to ctrl+alt+del to shut down and restart the game (about every 8 minutes) you're damn right I am going to complain and ***** about something I pay TRIPLE for until they fix it and make it usable
I am a computer technician, and from what you said just now, I'd advise examining your computer very closely to see if any of your drivers or hardware are out of date. Also consider running a boot-time memory scanner to test your ram for flaws, 90% of sudden hangs are because a sector of your ram is bad. I'd be willing to wager that most of the problems being complained about on this forum are client-side issues with people who have computers packed full of spyware and viruses because they use dangerous P2P programs like limewire or bearshare. Check your own computer before b!tching at CCP.

Things I have noticed since the latest patch/hotfix:
Worst of all - EXTREME drop in fps ! Am down to 10 fps on this machine (havent tested on main-machine yet) I used to have atleast 30-50 fps - 10 fps is not playable !
No sound and graphics for mining with stripminers (havent done anything since because of low fps.......) Please fix asap Greetings Belmarduk CCP Please give us casual players a Skill-Queue !

Again, from a computer technician's standpoint, these bluescreens are caused by your computer's hardware or drivers. There is a REMOTE chance that the problem was caused by eve, but I suggest you run a memory tester and update all of your drivers and bios.
