im all for fixing the problems but if downtime is gonna be extended could you please say it ahead of time all forums said it would be fixed after regular downtime and its obviously not and it affects our skilling up i will loose two hours of training and thats if its actually up at 14:00 that nearly 4000sp so could we please warn people of extended downtime with at least 24 hours or find a way for our skilling not to be affected by it
thank you

CCP is great for being able to produce this game - from a development perspective it seems to me to be a serious accomplishment both on the technical and creative side. Also Kudos for having a relatively open discussion with the player community generally, and most importantly in getting feedback from the community and discussion design and development with us. This is something that's basically just not seen anywhere else in the marketplace.
So, um - what's with the rush all the time? I've been playing the game for about a year now and I've seen this thing happen a few times where a patch is announced, and then it's delayed because there are issues - but the announced delay is like a day, and when it does hit there are lots of problems, and the downtime takes longer than announced leading to another immediate patch and lots of downtime...
As someone pretty experienced with the dev process, it seems this rush to resolve issues and immediately publish the patch is a little crazy. This boost patch mayhem seems to be a perfect example. Without knowing what's going on up there - my gut says that it might be better for us all if when issues started to appear in QA, you bumped releases a week or more to really iron out the kinks, and started QA from square one. I think most of the community would be happy to wait for the extra care and feeding required for a smooth patch process. If EVE stresses anything in it's gameplay design, it's, "be patient". I mean our characters take a long time to grow, how about a little extra time for patches that look like they might not have been as ready as you thought :)
That said - thanks for the unified persistent world, thanks for the broad scope of the game, thanks for the dev blogs, thanks for the free expansions (I mean really - having EVE grow under me is really interesting, fun, and probably is one of my big reasons to keep playing), thanks for being willing to take some fire on your own message boards, and thanks most of all for being independent. All of this makes this game truly unique and amazing. You guys rock.
P.S. - looking forward to Ambulation in a big way ...

its not really about the money, compensation can be in any form, give us an extra time extension.. or a bonus 5 day for the suffering or something like that.. you should realy take care of your clients, because you will loose them, if you don't.

If you want nice simple easy to use patches then go back to WOW. This is EVE, where patch day is for grown ups and it might cost you something.
In all seriousness, I don't think CCP do this on purpose. They are trying their hardest and have responded quickly to issues which emerged during the 1.1 deployment.
I was running the classic client yesterday and had no problems myself.

You could possibly try reading the EULA, ie. the legal contract YOU signed when subscribing. It describes fairly well that these downtimes are part of the deal, and that YOU have signed on to it!
So in other words, you're whining that YOU didn't bother reading the contract you signed..... That's sort of like going into a car dealership, buying a cheap car and then coming back later loudly complaining it's not a Lamborghini

Its nothing like your description, you can see by instantly looking at the car it's a skoda not a lambo. You can't see instatly looking at EVE you are going to be having downtime ALL the time. I touch people at night. |

i agree with this guy. I bought my first eve acc 4 days ago and because of all this downtime i've been able to play for maybe 4 hours... I even woke up 2 hours early to play. Yet here i am on the forums and not the game.... and the downtime says from 11-1400 when its 6 in the damn morning!

As for Downtimes..
We should remember they're actually working and developing new content for this game..Trying to make it more balanced and interesting.. Be glad they're not downsizing or outsourcing to a small staff of programmers who's only worry is to keep the servers running...

WoW! :P Announced at 1am GMT, how convenient for European players. Personally the money for downtime isn't an issues but on principle i will be trying to recoup the time that I paid for and did not recieve. I paid to play not to participate in CCP beta testing.

Wierd, but all the lag issues I had on my Vista PC seemed to vanish last night, when I played on my XP box. The XP box used to be the crappiest, since it took like 3 mins to log in after password was entered. And it was a software issue since the PC is decent enough (Core 2 Duo, 2 Gb RAM and GeForce 8800). That issue was gone last night and I sure as hell hope its not "hotfixed" back into the hame.
Since last night they closed down Jita, call it a coincidence, but everything seemed to go extremely fast as compared to a regular pre-patch day/night. Market opened with no delay and stuff like that... I am eager to see how will it work today. And do note, I played with 2 clients, alt-tabbing between them.
The only wierd issue I noticed was with a drone which simply got lost... I had my drones attacking, they killed off their target, but when I recalled them one stayed out in space. I was able to recover it only by approaching and "manually" scooping to drone bay. Never seen that kind of bug before.
Also, after someone explained to me how to configure the new Overview (it's not as simple as it seems), removing a lot of useless artifacts from screen, game seemed to work extremely well (in EVE terms). So it's either the new overview thats improving things, or Jita beeing closed down. Or both...
Oh, also the XP box somehow kept it settings... the windows were where i left them before patch, my custom chat channels opened up. This didn't happen on Vista box.
PS: A tip for those who run Vista. Allow administrator access to the EVE patches/client. Even if your account has admin, Vista has a messed up rights management which can deny proper patching if they aren't run by the default Administrator account. It a simple thing - just rclick the shortcut and select "Run as administrator". You'll avoid a lot of problems.

true. The last game i played, if there was a problem with the patch, they just said work around it til the next server maint. And new content was unheard of. So kudos to CCp for giving us new shinies and at least apologising for our inconveniences.

Getting Tired of all these extended Downtimes. You expect to us to pay on time, we expect to be able to play what we pay for. If your prog. cant do it right the first time, maybe u need to fire them and find people who can do it right the first time.

Not really relevant... The guy signed a contract, is now whining (along with a few others) that he didn't read it. He's free to cancel it and find a better deal...... Completely fair.... Same as if you sign up for a cable package and doesn't like the channels....
While I'm critical of CCP on a lot of points, this is one where they don't deserve criticism since they're delivering exactly what they've agreed to. If people are too stupid/lazy to read the contract they sign and assume they're entitled to more than they are, that's their problem....
As for me, no I didn't read the EULA when I signed up, but if I wanted to complain over something, I'd damn well check it before complaining and looking like a donkey...

One thing that would be very nice is if the game didnt use 100% cpu all the time, even when youre in a station with all graphics turned off.
It drains the laptop batteries quickly so you have to stay connected to an electrical outlet. Also for people (like me) who use Excel to play this game it is very slow when EVE steal all CPU.
There is no reason why it should use more than maybe 25% CPU when you stay at a station.

Run dual accounts in windows then u wont be swapping between fullscreen clients. Low framerates is not down to eve or ccp its down to spending 50 quid and updating you graphics card. I run 2 clients at 1368 each with a ú50 card and they both get 30fps+.

Sorry this is not true in any aspect at all. I have a dual sli setup 512mb gfx per card running 2 21" screens and 2 accounts in windows, gfx drivers are the latest updated 2 days ago, but my fps performance still drops when focus is set to one of the windows. oh and btw the whole system is 64bit so its not a cpu problem either.
and with all this patching crashing, extended downtime its beginning to feel like MS are running the show around here :(
PLEASE FIX IT!

How come the people who complain about 100%cpu use low frame rates etc are on laptops or low end machines.
Trinity is a high end game client. Its system intensive. If ccp only listened to people who have crap computers then it would never get upgraded and look as wonderfull as it does.
If eve is running too slow... Your computer is crap! simple as that. Nothing wrong with eve.

I agree that the decent thing for CCP to do would be to extend everyone's game time by the unforseen delay i.e. from 16:00 to 02:30 on patch day, and 12:00 till 14:00 (fingers crossed) today. All I can say is I was caught out by the delay the first time and lost probably 8-9 hours of skill time. Fortunately this time around I set hull 5 going, which won't be finished until the end of next week :)
Finally, I think what some people are missing is that this is a game! Is one or two nights of not skilling your character really going to hurt that much?
p.s. you often have to scoop drones if they become incapacitated by damage, so they won't return under their own power

CCP ExeFile takes up 104.456k RAM when not logged in, about 300k when playing. As for CPU it takes between 6% CPU when idle and 30-40% CPU when fighting (on a Core 2 Duo)
Seems very wierd, really... I dont deny it happens to you, but still is wierd.

Yet more and more delays. Is this upgrade planned at all of just hoping for the best?
This is just silly, it's always a new excuse, more delays, more failure more GTC wasted. I appreciate you'll encounter problems but these should be forseen. I'm fed up of reading it should be back tonight or early the next day and it's down again for another half day. I don't think you should promise things because it doesn't get delivered within the time you mention.
You know when I get my GTC I pay for 30 days, not 29, 28 or 27 but 30. I've lost 3 days of my time so far...I trust I'll be compensated? Or will I have to lose the time that I pay for?

Who says you pay for DT if there was no DT maybe you would be paying more.
Coming from someone who learing to code, some problems with patchs cant aways been seen till you have 10k + people running the program.
Yes theres still bugs there working on it, this is still the best MMO out there imo, and this is what you have to pay sometimes for such a good game(there trying new content that has not been done before), if EA was running eve we still would not 90% of the content that we have in game now.

I was in a Mission called: Level 1 (Worlds Collide), with my girl-Friend and we flew together a mission. So far so good. After we had rescued the 20 Hostiles,i wanted to make a look at the cartel base. And then it comes... It was full of Rocketships which are shooting on my Punisher. It was unbelieveable. I cant Imagine, when, if there where a chance to get through with a cruiser , that i will survive this crap. Hey thats a Level 1 Mission. But okay then i thought it where better to go out of the hell, then i warped. I waited 10 seconds. the warp started and in the warp tunnel my ship explodes. And i was on the way to a station . IMAGINE. I have a video putted in this bugreport. send me your sight of view in words please .I think there where to much explosions around, that caused the error. But in Fact, i got away and there where no reason that my ship should blowing up. I want to get my 15mio isk back. I had so much tec 2 fittings and weapons 2 mios each. D A M N ! Fortunately i can live with the loss of my ship ,but in this reason , im very very afraid of the game.
here is the vid with original sound. in the back my girlfirend :)
