What if the DT was for 5 days...7 days? At which point would you complain because you bloody would eventually.
What does it take a week...two? So don't pretend you wouldn't complain.
By the way why are you talking like "b4" that's just annoying.
If the downtime extended for more than a day, I'd be complaining. Anything less than that is irritating, but not necessarily worth wasting time *****ing about it. I think most people are having a major problem with the whole "no notice" issue, which is excruciatingly annoying in more than a few ways, not to mention totally understandable. My complaint resides with the same issue, and it's important that that is understood by both naysayers like you and CCP themselves.
Prehaps you should read my previous posts before calling me names. I already said about the "no notice" issue.

cant use my second acct either. how sad.
Signed. Same situation here. :(
I have same problem, my computer used to run both clients on high graphics with no problem. I could even lower the graphics to old graphics and run three clients with zero lag. Now with the graphics all the way down with no effects and no premium graphics activated I can't run two clients...though one client works no problem.

Hmm ... have CCP changed EVE to use more cores? Would explain why some people are reporting a jump to 100% and others are saying they can no longer run two clients.

I agree, people seem to forget that the folks at CCP worked for almost 24 hours straight to get this boost patch onto the servers, while all some of you are doing is whining... But yes, there are bugs. Yes, this is normal. And yes, it will get fixed. Now go out and enjoy real life for a few hours!
Hum... Maybe CCP forget that we pay for this game. Any refund for the waste of time ?
Why having a test server ? Playing games cards ?

Edited by: Vantex on 14/03/2008 13:32:10 I'm only frustrated because a skill I need to get a new ship that I've wanted for...a long time just finished training yesterday. (I wasn't able to get on when server was up) That's the only reason I'm frustrated. If they need to take this time to make the game BETTER so it doesn't have GLITCHES or BUGS, then that's fine. I can understand if you're impatient, but I'd rather have a day of free time than a crappy game.

I have played a lot of online games for years until now but i have never seen a 24 hours downtime to fixes bugs from a patch and another long hours of downtime just after that to fix others and others and others bugs
Like i say before, what is the utility of the test server ?

Originally by: Emetic Smile However, what the players should really somehow be reimbursed for is "paying" themselves in "lost" gametime for the whole shoddy QA experince. Patches should be deployed when ready, never before.
define paying customers?
customers who pay cash or who buy gtc's using isk... those 2 are different to me and shouldnt be put in the same group.
Originally by: Emetic Smile I understand the whole complexity of rewriting millions of lines of code, I also get the fact that there is a test server where these things are well - tested...
thats the thing though, the test server is small scale and cant really test everything that needs testing. yet the shear amount of bugs that surfaced could of been solved before the release with maybe just a handful slipping through.
Originally by: Emetic Smile CCP cannot even hide behind a commentary of well it's an unusal occurance, becauswe it isn't - its every time!
ive been in this game over 3 yrs now and the only thing i can say about that is that its not as often as you think. it does seem to happen almost every time a major patch is released, out of those this one seems to be the worst of the bunch.
Originally by: Emetic Smile Its obvious that many of the issues were not picked up but what is not obvious is - why not?
emetic let me school you a bit...
hotfixes = quick fixes that are untested patches = game fixes that are tested
the amount of testing required to fix what is already in the open may take some time yet, it is also hard to even try to estimate how long that may be due to the amount of bugs and possible complexity of the game code they have wrote thus far. If i were to take a guess i'd say that we'll probably get hit with another patch tuesday at the earliest. I am however shocked that they released a untested quick fix now instead of waiting and fixing as much as they could which was tested a great deal, hence my previous reply.
as for those of who you keep asking about the alt pressing in space...... its not a bug its a new feature one that im glad they finally released now all the need to do is remove local and im a happy camper

Fellow Players:
Notice the absense of CCP responses here? Notice the mis-use of technical terms? This forum thread is what used to be called a "memory hole" -- a place created usually by company's a PR flak, where the customers can complain to their heart's content. Vent. Cathart. And when you're done you'll hopefully feel better, and that CCP is helping in some unseen way. And no-one at CCP will read this or, if they do, it will have no effect whatsoever on -- well -- anything.
Yesterday's "Live Dev Blog" (weird name for a monologue but anyway) covered a range of topics, from the exotic to the bizarre, but I didn't hear one mention of fixing Jita, addressing the truly abyssmal deployment of "upgrades", the cryptic way that oddball tweaks are introduced, or any of the basic, fundamental issues I think most of the users would want to see addressed.
I couldnt care less about Trinity's graphics -- I'd swap them in a second for fast FPS, reliable connections, a REAL user interaction with CCP. I don't care how pretty a starship looks if I can't... play... the... game.
And no -- it's not whining. I notice CCP has not a hint of sympathy or amnesty if I'm late on a payment. They hold me accountable. That's fine -- but can't that go two ways? MMO players are one of the few segments of the buying populace that not only want to help the manufacturer -- they even find it flattering when the manufacturer lets them -- for free. When a customer offers input, it's not whining -- it's someone taking time out of their day, for free, to help the company improve the product. It's saddening to see this input is apparently ignored.
The fact is that, while EVE is a wonderfully compelling game, CCP's performance is far worse than lackluster, and I can't see it getting better.
Oh -- and finally -- that thing about memory holes? It works. We're all susceptible even when we know the psychodynamics.
Thanks.

please fix the crazy overheating that suddenly has started since this patch (even more than after trinity) (using classic client my nvidia 7900 goes ABOVE 90 C (I don't even get to undock before i have to shut down eve or my GPU would start melting (have bug reported it))) and the alt tabbing in and out of game. -sig-
Support the introduction of Blaze M crystals for Amarr! (Or make Amarr the only race able to deal EM damage from turrets).

Overheating is a sign of a dying Graphics card, I'm guessing you've had yours a while. Try replacing the thermal paste on it and removing dust.

I for one am glad CCP is actually doing things to make the game better and more dynamic. As for the delays, you can test a program for weeks and even months if the program is particularly complex and still not find ALL the problems prior to going live.

You know one thing I don't remember anyone complaining about.. The ammarian crystals won't restack once fitted to a ship. I mean if you happen to end up with a large collection of them and wish to sell them you have to sell one at a time if they were fitted to a ship, this is nuts!
p.s , yes the extra lag is certianly a bit of an issue worth looking into and resolving.

PLEASE READ THIS EMAIL AT THE JOB REVIEW OF PERSON IN CHARGE OF EVE's QUALITY CONTROL.
Your **** poor effort has cost us tremendously with the confidence of our customers. Your lazy attitude toward testing and quality control has caused substandard playability, extended server down time, damaged our files and even files of subscriber base. Your inept ability to actually run and test executable files has failed to catch the most obvious and rudimentary flaws. The loss of new subscription revenue due to down time is also of great concern. -Your raise is hereby denied and consider yourself on notice. -An economical and viable alternative to your job position is to take your salary and perks and give them to a player called GameNotzi. He assures us before his approval he will take the time to install, run, observe, examine, and try EVE on various computers and operating systems. He already has accumulated experience in testing our patches. After the famous boot.ini disaster, he actually runs our update on his wifes computer before he will install it on his own.
Thankyou for your time

I work in the area of qa and i have to say im really impressed on how bad you manage to **** up every time you release a major patch. You should be paying us money for being your testers not the other way around ccp. You have 1 hour of downtime every day which is for most business systems a dream to actually have down time everyday how do you manage to **** this up and not actually be able to plan your patches to be done in that time ?
You specified that downtime so why dont plan your patches so they can be done in that time otherwise specify that you take down eve every third friday or something or you have so sever memory leaks that you actually have to restart the server every day ?
I love eve so i cant really threaten about leaving cause i see no alternative right now but ccp stop making your customers feel like suckers paying for something we aint getting.

If you opened your eyes you'd know why they can't be stacked after use. Damage and use.
If you were able to repackage a damaged item, it would repackage into an undamaged item.

Suck it up and shut up already.
After reading 6 pages of pure whining (few posts excluded) i have a feeling my head is going to explode People are trying to fix the game so you might get a more enjoyable experiance, so try being supportive for a change. Sure, we all want our daily fix of EVE, but have some patience for the love of whatever you believe in...

I suspect the code for EvE is just a little less complex than human DNA. Let the experts sift through code line by line if they have to. I want a working game like every one else. And, doesn't anybody read the posts that are up already. You ask the same things over and over. I truly thank CCP for EvE, It has made me upgrade my comp a few times for the better. (just gave me an excuse to do so) Will be adding a sig soon, I have one on the wall right here -->(points)

All those negative reactions... Why do I have no problems with the functionality of EVE? My ALT + Tab works perfectly, I don't have problems with screen resolutions or item bugs or what so ever.
Does some people realise what it is to work on an on-line game of this size ?! My opinion: CCP is doing all they can, and I appreciate it.
I wonder what all those people think about Windows Vista... Bug free ??? Virus safe ???
So please, just let them do there jobs! They're doing it very well for the past 8 years!

OMFG... people... if you're living off scraps of food, unemployed, about to be fired, evicted from your home... for the God's sake, stop playing games, get off your arse and find a solution to your r/l issues. Because playing EVE for sure isn't going to solve them.
Seriously, quiting EVE now would be the best thing that can happen to you.

I'm not a nolife player, but i play during some hours of the day. Unfortunately, during those hours i have the uncredible luck to wait everyday a 1 hour (when everithing goes right) of downtime for the reboot of the crapy servers.
And now i have the pleasure to wait 24 hours for a patch, then 3 more hours for fixing the bugs of the bugs of this patch.
This game is not free and really expensive if you compare with others like WoW or LOTRO and this expense is for a game who look like a beta test !
