This is in response to everyone who is having graphics issues. The only problem I've noticed was a glitch in the text that has only popped up once, mind you this was after 10 hrs of constant playing almost, and relogging corrected it immediately. Otherwise, I play the game with the graphics set to max with all effects turned on for the most part, and the only time I've ever noticed lag was when I watched a large pvp+gate guardsand even then my fps only dropped by 10-15 at most. That is on my less then a year old duo-core 2.4ghz 4gig ram, 512mb graphics card system. On my older system 3-4 yr old 2.4 ghz p4, 2gig ram, 256mb graphics the premium graphics runs about 15-20 fps slower, but no noticable graphics lag on the original graphics version. To me most of your complaints about graphics problems sound to be the result of your hardware, or everything running in your system's background, but I could be completely wrong about that. As for the person that had all his interface windows open in the middle of his screen stacked on top of each other, damn that was weird :) I did also try to run EVE on my laptop 2ghz, 1gig ram, unknown graphics, but it would barely run trinity content before locking up, and original content goes at about 10 fps
So, before you keep complaining about graphic/fps problems, or connection lag (I had run all three of my computers at once through a 756kbs-1.5mbs DSL modem via a networking switch, and had no noticeable connection lag) check your hardware, maybe you need to upgrade it, if not check your system for any programs running in the background that should be (I keep having go into Vista's task manager to shut off copies of IExplorer that didn't shut down correctly and wind up using a few hundred MBs of RAM if I leave them running long enough), also check your software configurations both EVE and your operating systems to make sure everything is optimized for your system's limits, you might also want to check for viruses in your system in case you haven't recently. Once you've done these four things, then you continue on complaining about how the game doesn't run properly, unless you've found an actual bug in the program then by all means report it correctly via a bug report with as much information as you can as the devs don't have the time to scan these forums for bug details that people only report here on the forums as they spend their time correcting the bugs that other players have reported via the reports.
Well, that's all I have to rant about. For those of you who agree with what I've written, thank you, for those who are helped by what is written, you're welcome, for those of you who don't agree with any or all of what I've posted, but choose not to respond with anything but 'HELPFUL' corrections, I thank you as well. For everyone else I stand ready to accept your 'flames', they'll be used to help heat my home, it's a bit cold here right now

you acctualy read all 6 pages? :) if i wanted to hear that much moaning id tell the gf im going out with the lads tonight
Ok, i lied, i read 7x% in hope of finding out something useful. Noone could take all 100% of that crap :D
Haha, I actually read 100% of this forum. All 6 pages. At first I started agreeing with all of the ppl who are asking for compensation for the downtime. Then the issue of the eula is a open and shut case. No compensation. OK, I signed it, so be it. I do actually have a r/l.
Then I paid attention to those who have significant errors after the patch. My advice to you, from a software engineer developing for a client-intensive, live system is, file a bug report. Be detailed, be specific, and test it thoroughly to make sure it could not possibly be on your side.
This is not uncommon. I'm not asking you to "do CCP's job". I'm asking you to be a good customer and inform the company, in a professional manner, what isn't working in their product.
Trust me, a software engineer who sees a bug that says, "Alt-tab doesn't work anymore." is going to look at it and immediately disregard it. He'll say, "It works on the 12 machines here, I need more information."
Provide your system specs. Hardware/OS version/video driver version/etc. All these things will help them narrow down exactly what is causing the errors. If you can, also provide the settings you are currently using.
If this is a visual problem, i.e. graphics, include screenshots. If it is an error message, Include, verbatim, the error message, or a screenshot of it.
All I'm saying is more detail is better.
I'm not saying that none of you have any right to complain. You do. But complain in a productive, professional manner, and someone might actually appreciate it. It's called "Constructive Criticism."
Hopefully someone found this helpful.
Well, youre also 100% right without being insultive in any way, unlike some of us *whistles*
Is it me, or is this thread actually becoming more fun with every passing minute?

Lets consider this wild, imaginative scenario...
1. You make a game thats unique in its niche even 4 years after its release (as opposed to 1 bazillon hack and slash clones out there) 2. You upgrade it paying from your pocket for extra programmers, designers, etc to make it one of the best mmos in the world, not charging one extra cent from your users 3. You allow your users to pay for game time with game coin and you even put in place a secure infrastructure allowing them to do so. 4. You present your users with new content every year, basically for free. 5. You give your users complete freedom over their avatars, without GMs watching every step and herding them like little children 6. You invent a skill system that allows your users avatars to evolve even when offline
Question: You think, doing all those things above, will make everyone happy, eh? Mhahaha...

ROFLMAO @ the idiot and his mothership. If it was such an important ship he would have made sure that someone could refuel it for him or lend him the isk for the fuel. Kudos for the people that found and stole the mothership. Hope it was nicely outfitted with goodies in the cargo area. I hope he doesn't get the ship back. Seriously what is CCP going to do steal the ship from the people that stole it and give it back? How is that fair to the people that found the ship floating in space without a pilot. Not their fault the pilot abandon the ship. Maybe he will learn to plan more wisely. If he can't afford to arrange for adequate fuel for the station maybe he should not own one. I think the decline, atrophy has set in now. CCP Are not the young motivated people they once were. The whole corporation has hired dozens of people that weren't there from the start. They don't share the vision of the original guys. They just do their job. They don't especially care if the server is down, or if it's down longer than it was supposed to be.
The strange thing is, it's natural, and it's human.
What can we do about it ?
Very little. I've seen a few very large MMORPG's die a slow death. I'm thinking EVE is heading the same way. That's my humble opinion. Either they change EVE back again into something exciting, or they die... within 1-2 years. That's my prediction.
I certainly hope not. I want to be at next fanfest :-)

I totally agree with the training que... surely that would stop everyone complaining when we lose playing time, safe in the knowledge at least our char is still getting trained (however god damn sloow that process is)? Is there some reason CCP have for not bringing this in?
or have we all gone completely mad?
From what I understand the devs do intend on bringing in the training que in some form, but can't right now as what they've tried so far clashes with the rest of the game programing, and they've also had more complaints/comments over all about game balance, bug/graphics issues, etc.... so they've worked on everything else first. Now, if everyone with an account were to tell them that they're #1 issue was not having a training que of some sort then surprise surprise they might make that their #3 programing issue, with #1 being server bug issues, #2 being client bug issues.
Well, once again I have nothing left to say and am prepared to receive any and all 'flames', to again be used to help heat my place, it's still a bit cold

As a software developer myself I can appreciate the complex sequence of events that must take place in patching and hot fixing a system as complex as EVE. With a system as complex as EVE there are going to be oversights and mistakes made, CCP is doing a fine job in my opinion. I would like to see the API back up asap thoughà

Suggestions: - Many seems to have problem with time zones as in when is TQ DT gonna happen? Well, display the GMT in the client login window then. - Skill training finished before servers are up. This has been up before several times. Make it possible to make a skill queue were u can plan and list what to train. Can't see/understand why you shouldn't be able to do it? - As in all software, fix the problems first make it stable then add features and such. - CCP got test servers. If these problems show up first when a lot of people are logged on then make people use the test servers more. Give those who use them something in return like free game time? - Please have a look at how things are tested, we, the end users, are not your alpha/beta test people, we pay to play! - Make small changes/upgrades and release often. Not these large ones that often do not get done on time. Smaller changes are easier to test also. - As some already have said. It's doesn't matter how good it is looking, how fast or advanced it may be if you can't use it. - CCP is in a good position to ignore us if we one by one tries to influence. I bet they would not ignore say 10000 users as easy. Form a Eve User Group perhaps? If there is one, where are they and what do they need to be more effective?
Later all and fly safe!

As reported in our earlier News Item new player missions have been disabled for 24 hours and this hotfix will eliminate the issues with them. We will also be fixing the problem with Civilian Codebreaker/Analyzers and Archaeology. Please remember to get your character our of harm's way and set a skill long enough to cover the downtime prior to logging off. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.
Hey Mitnal, any chance of getting someone from CCP brave enough to comment in this forum thread that you set up?? What is the problem now? As a 'community representative' i would of thought you would be capable of finding someone who can communicate with the 'savages'...

The whole idea of this patch is super. It's stuff I thought about too. How to reduce lag etc... Give some breathing room for those nodes (servers).
It's a damn splendid idea.
The implementation, however, is as were used to.
EVE developers should really consider a few things. How much is their fanbase going to accept. And how much can they shove down their throat.
EVE needs to stay alive, that's the prime concern of the DEV's. They crunch numbers and they see what is needed.
But really, what IS needed. You have a playerbase of thousands of people, that have been playing right from the start. They now are flying motherships, titans, dreads and carriers. And they duke it out with those ships, sometimes.
And, newsflash, it is BORING !
We don't play EVE to be bored. Do we ?

or have we all gone completely mad?
well I can think of one big reson why ccp would want not to implement a que. the thing is that players who reley on game time cards for the most part, have figured out that skilling of long term skills will continue even if the game time runs out. At present most players dont have skills that take more then 30 days or so to train to next lvl so its not that big of a deal. But if you could que 3 long term skills you could set your account to train for 3-4 mounths for free. This would be werry bad for bussnes, becouse this would shurly become werry popular espicialy for players who own more then one account.
that is why u impliment an exception along the lines of "if <player> has not logged on in <insert time window> pause training" which would then stop the que from operating for such a long period of time and would require them to keep their account active durring training
oh and they updated their DT quote: " Dear players, today's Downtime will be extended further due to deployment taking a bit longer than originally announced. We expect to have Tranquility up and open for business at about 15.30 GMT."
