Recent events have moved the Elder Council of The House of Marek into the black void of space. We have had little time to deal with the affairs of our House planet-side.
As I walked this morning in the markets, among merchants selling everything from crates filled with fresh fruit to micro cleaning beads, it took me a moment to meditate about the reason that we do what we do. House of Marek does it for them.
We don't go into space to aid the capsuleer community. We aid the capsuleer community because ultimately it is this capsuleer community that keeps the economy -the same economy that feeds the 4 year old daughter of the large flower salesman- in good shape.
I saw a small boy, he must have been less than 14 years old, help a very old Ammatar woman get into the public transport. He led her gently by the hand and helped her get in. She thanked him and gave him a hug. "Keep the faith!" he said as he left to play with a small group of kids that impatiently waited for him near the alley next to the zoologist's office. This is The Mandate. This is the Ammatar Way of Life that we would like to preserve.
I have seen foreign capital arrive in Derelik. Caldari merchants mostly. Some Amarrian venture capitalists that read on the winds that change is coming and that the tribes will unite soon. I feel it too. It is our destiny to be as one. With God as our banner. This Capitalists beleive that they understand the "Dream of San Matari". That dream preached by me after the disappearance of Dal Marek. But they don't understand the dream of San Matari, they believe it is about becoming rich and bringing wealth to the area. Wealth and security are good things; The Mandate, and House of Marek, welcomes them with open arms. I feel I must warn them that they should not confuse our "Dream of San Matari", our "Ammatar Way", with a business venture. It is disrespectful to the Ammatar, which they call friends, to use our cultural, or religious heritage, to their advantage in any way. Those that would profit from doing business in the Mandate can enjoy their stay. After all, we are a progressive peoples. In all things remember that doing free trade inside the Mandate does not make you an Ammatar.
The Dream of San Matari is about uniting Ammatar Men and women to fight for a just cause. The day in which Ammatar men and women reclaim once and for all what was theirs the right to guide the rest of the tribes; true Ammatar, with the aid of their slaves. Not just any slave but slaves that are loyal and "get it". The Dream of San Matari is something that House of Marek has carried on its back through thick and thin.
To be an Ammatar you must be of ancient tribal blood, purged by sacrifice, and sanctified by God. There are no Ammatars by choice. You are, or are not. The rest are our allies, friends, business partners, or sadly our bitter enemies.
As I walked this morning through the markets and heard people laugh and kids play. Men and woman drinking tea, ordering meals, sitting down enjoying the parks, I wondered... Do the people of Matar understand what we are offering them? We are on their side yet they resist. Tierra irridente can be healed. We have the technology to help with their ecological disasters, hunger, disease. All we ask is for the opportunity to guide them towards a brighter future.

I wondered... Do the new venture capitalists that have entered the Mandate over the last few months understand what it is to be an Ammatar? Do they understand the time and resources invested in maintaining the Mandate solely as an Ammatar run society? Do they understand that doing business in the Mandate does not make you an Ammatar? That being an Ammatar goes beyond making ISK inside our walls?
I will visit the markets more often. I will not let my responsibilities keep me from watching over the common Ammatar. I am a noble and God has given me a task, as he has given to all that serve Him, to watch over one another and serve each other. As a leader of a noble House, and a believer in the Amarrian scriptures, I have a responsibilities to the common people of the Mandate. That responsibility is to never sell their heritage to anyone, friend or foe.

The Mandate has to grow rich to survive, Minister. There are many of our lost cousins in the north who want to 'punish' us for our 'treachery'. A unified, happy, but poor Mandate will be one that dissolves into carnage when those worst kind of matari come for their vengance.
We can't keep relying on our amarr friends to bale us out all the time. That's why we should welcome with open arms the caldari traders. Their missile technology modernised our fleet and likely helped the ceasefire of last year come into existence. The Republic could see that we were not going to collapse militarily and that they had to talk to us.
Yes, our caldari friends and the other traders are not ethnically Ammatar. But they can be citizens of the Mandate, citizens of Derelik.
Opening our borders and growing rich will help the ammatar way of life grow. I want my children to live in a safe and happy society, but I also want them to be warm, well fed and to have the education and opportunities in life that are sometimes denied to our people.
The Mandate has good friends in the amarr and the caldari. But friends do not live off their friend's handouts forever. The Mandate must grow strong by trade and be able to look after itself.

Shern, We are in agreement. House of Marek as a house that has embraced progressive ideas believes in giving all our support to the Mandate in their efforts to secure free trade agreements with different factions, including the Caldari.
We hope that all transactions are done with the respect that our Amarrian religion, and our Ammatar culture deserves. Having a "Derelik Caldari Trade Front" or other such corporation, or alliance, is fine with the Ammatar people. Bringing Caldari and Amarrian venture capitalists mixing them with other races for profit sake and calling them "The Ammatar -this and that-" is misleading if not outright dishonest. If you are not an Ammatar run corporation you have no business calling yourself an Ammatar Corporation, it is as simple as that.
Shern, you have spent too much time with lesser races. No one can be a citizen of the Mandate without submitting to the God of Amarr,...no one! We will not tolerate anyone to come into the Mandate and expect to be treated as a citizen,. What in the world is this? Caldari citizens? They can be employees or traders but unless they submit to God they can never be considered anything less than subhuman.
Is this the new stance of Delictum?... or Prime directive? Is this the new stance of the Pioneers? Of the Empire? Are we to accept anyone as a citizen of Empire and Mandate because they can make ISK? Please tell me, because if it is there is something wrong and I will depart from you all as if you all where a center of pestilence.

I work for, uh, caldari traders now, Minister, though course if my Lord Scagga calls, I'll do most stuff that he'd ask for.
I know that the people who have come into Derelik to help us ain't ammatar like you and me. But I'm saying that we should give them good welcome, as people who want to help. We Ammatar need all the friends we can get ? |

Dear Shern, Dont misunderstand my words. Let me be clear that I give your employers and any other tradesmen that come to the Mandate a warm welcome.
It troubles me that the trend in some Ammatar seems to be that they are willing to do a lot for ISK and only "some" for the Mandate now a days. This is something I ask through this conversation and will take a moment to humbly ask the Ammatar Consulate -if they are reading this, as many Ammmatar will- to look into all of this new corporations, factions and political groups planetside, calling themselves Ammatar and not being led by those of the true blood.
We abide by the decisions of the Consulate. The Consulate allows free trade. The Consulate works from the top to the bottom. The Noble Houses work from the bottom to the top. We gather information from the neighborhhods and villages, from the city and the megalopolis all the way to the capsuleer communities. And we represent the people. We watch for their interests. We observe what goes on.
We welcome all traders that seek the shade and tranquility that God has provided, away from the chaos of war and anarchy, through the peace that Amarr has brought to us in The Mandate. The shade of Ammatar prosperity, peace, and economic growth. Yes we welcome your employer and many others. But the nobles of House of Marek, as the nobles of House Strak and the three minor houses know, will always watch over the good of the common folk. It is, we feel, our mission.
The only problem we have seen is the constant use of our Ammatar heritage by these new traders. It is not enough for them to trade -something which we allow and embrace- they also want to wear our cultural and religious sounding icons for their groups, corporations and subfactions. Some are taking liberties not given to them. Calling themselves Ammatar citizens, or citizens of the Mandate.
I do not speak for The Mandate Consulate but I beleive that they will not stand for this. I can asure you that House of Marek will not tolerate it. And I have a feeling that the Empire will crush anyone that takes Imperial liberties that do not belong to them.

I respect what you say, Minister - but I think that the Consulate understands that change is coming and that change is needed. As I said before, we've endured and prospered despite the tribal attacks on us, because of our own stubborness and resilience, yes, but also because of the kindness of our allies. Isn't it impolite to treat those who have come to help us as something less than ourselves ?
If I called myself an amarr lady, I'd be rightly laughed at. But I can see a situation where, in time, I or other ammatar like me might take on the duties and rights of our betters, as we change and learn.
I am happy for outsiders to be called citizens of the Mandate as we need their fresh thinking to continue to prosper. We do not want to turn back into 'Fortress Derelik', thinking only of ourselves and surviving only on what our amarr friends can give us. We have to grow ! |

You are either a faithful servant of God, Empire, and Mandate, or you are not. We dont live of the scraps of the Amarr. This is a semi-autonomous state. The Consulate runs things beleive it or not. We have our own industries, and the Consulate allows free trade. Ammar is here only as an advisor to our Government. All of this is consistent with scripture, our sole rule for living.
We submit, even our Consulate submits to authority just like every Amarr citizen submits to a superior, and their superiors to their superiors, and so on and so forth.
You have used some very interesting words Shern. Let me correct you on one small but important detail, they are not our "Amarrian friends"; they are our "Amarr SUPERIORS"! Who has been filling your mind with these ideas? Where is it that your "new" friends want us to go? Where are these benefits that the Mandate will reap?
I would like to know? House of Marek would like to know. Because the Amarr are not our "friends". They are our Superiors! We owe them our respect and service without question. Since when has submission to God, to Empire, to one another has become optional?

I submit to God's will, course I do, Minister. I can't guess the mind of God, but I'm sure God *wants* his ammatar servants to become rich and prosperous and to support our Amarr betters.
Maybe our new friends are tools sent by God to help us achieve this ? If that's true, we'd be very rude to refuse God's help in It's plan, wouldn't we ?

Should we not as the Ammatar be benevolent towards those who wish to embrace the Ammatar culture? All civilizations change over time. I say the Ammatar are no different. Every civilization has those who wish to exploit trade lanes to the fullest potential. I say let them come and let them exploit the trade lanes. If anything the trade lanes are not utilized enough. Those who do come to use the trade lanes will find a profitable home, and if they embrace our culture the Mandate will grow.
I will embrace those who embrace our culture as a brother. I am not a judge or the jury, I am no man to question anotherĘs resolve. I leave this task to God.

About the trade routes we are in agreement. They can come and use them. We embrace free trade.
I do not know another man's heart, so I cannot question his resolve either. One thing I do know. Scripture is clear, it leaves no room for human interpretations. Either the new comers submit to God and Empire or they are not my brothers. Employees, very close friends at best. Brothers? Who are my brothers and sisters?
My only brothers and sisters are all of those Ammatar men and women of good name that call upon the God of Amarr without question. Those that have the resolve to serve only God, the Empire, and the Mandate without question and without bending a knee and slithering in their bellies like snakes to the whims of new ideologies.
And you can quote me on that last one. Send it to the Empire and send it to The Mandate, and to all of the pilots that Delictum23216 has decided to call brothers without being faithful to God.
If your brothers Mr. Velevos want to trade in Derelik and be called Ammatar, they must side with Slavery and everything else. After all, you cannot be a part time Ammatar. They must publicly proclaim their support to our Slaving practices and help our SEP facilities, etc etc. Let us see if they will put their money where their ISK is.

Perhaps the problem Derelik has is that it attracts the more shady characters as the honest often feel harrassed and missused.

Derelik, while a nice enough area to travel through, has served me better as a place to travel through than a place to stop and visit. Don't get me wrong, the people are good, hardworking, and for the most part God-fearing. The thing is, even with the Mandate's desire for free trade, there was little in the markets that drew my eye. Unless things have recently changed, I would still have a difficult time finding a decent supply of drones, or a Neutron Blaster, or even a good quality Cruise Missile Launcher near where I was passing through.
I know many regions have issues keeping far-flung areas supplied with many goods, but the only regions I have seen worse markets in were Pure Blind, Venal, and Stain. If this assessment is no longer accurate, then I apologize, but it was only a few months ago that I passed through, looking for goods to resupply with.

We do try to get in quality goods, though I mainly deal in amarr, some tribal stuff and caldari tech shield boosters and missiles. If you want gallente stuff, we ain't a place to go, but the other goods at Yuzier are as good as anything you'd ever find at Amarr and better than at Rens ! |
