Good day to all.
I want to ask, where developers plan to make a realistic animation of missiles? That would be from 7 rocket launchers Drake flew seven missiles, not one.
For many players it may seem unimportant. But for me it's important. I think it is just as important for new players.

I'm pretty sure they have at least some idea of what they want to do and how to make it look good and realistic. When they will reveal to us their plans is another matter entirely. But we do know that this is one of the things they're working on. Support showing T2 and faction frequency crystal damage in the info window! |

First up, if you're putting rocket launchers on a drake you're doing it wrong.
Secondly, there's been talk of upgrading the missile animation but as far as I can tell nothing concrete has been stated by CCP so it's just a matter of keeping your eye on the upcoming update news.

Ungroup your launchers and the animation is fixed.
The load on the server and client of handling multiple missile animations was one of the reasons for weapon grouping to begin with.

Missile spam causes lag (lots of it, because missiles are objects, rather than just an animation like turrets), and it was the original reason for CCP creating the weapon grouping.
For now I think we're going to still have just one missile being fired, until they can determine that it won't lag out the node too horribly (even with TiDi working pretty well). This isn't to say that they won't add more missiles to the animation, but that there are just technical limitations to consider... |

As the previous posters have said, it's a server load issue. The servers already have enough trouble keeping up, more missiles isn't good for them. |

Multiple launchers don't necessarily need to be treated as launching multiple missiles server side. Let's say you're in ship with 6 HAM launchers. If you were to launch a missile or missiles, the server would read one missile launched from the ship with an attached multiplier based on the number of launchers active at the time on that target. If you activate 5 of the 6 launchers, the multiplier gives the missile 5 times the damage of a single missile, server side. If the enemy intercepts one of the missiles with a defender missile, then the multiplier gets reduced by one.
Client side, the graphics would have animations and staggered launches. This may cause graphics lag for individual players, but it would have anyway. This fix avoids the server lag issue entirely (as in server lag with missiles should be about the same as it is now) because the server only sees one missile per cycle. this fix is simple, Make it so Missiles are no longer objects but visual effects with time delayed damage to the target. this would make deffenders useless, but since when have we really cared about them anyway? |

First and foremost it has nothing to do with server lag. If you shoot your's 6 grouped launchers and game renders one or six missiles the comunication with server will be same. BUT if you shoot 6 ungrouped launchers the communication will be 6x more.
On the other hand rendering 120 instead of 20 missiles in a fleet fight or when your doing mission can be really hard on yours graphic card.
After they created weapon grouping, they should have created new animations for missile launching. Like when you shoot group of guns you dont see just one gun shooting. Why they didnt I wonder.
In the CSM meeting report they stated that CCP graphics department have shown CSM some new graphics in stage of development. Im sure that new missile animation was mentioned. Something about anime/manga style woley of rockets leaving gas clouds. But I dont recal details. If you want, read it. Whole report is worth it I think.
Im just hoping that when they create new missiles animations, they will give us an option to turn it to the simple version we have now, since my 4 years old notebook may then really begin to have problems rendering some fights. |

The reason for grouping was because (as you mention), creating 120 ... or 1200 ... or 12000 missiles in a fight caused a lot of hurt on people's graphics cards.
Turrets just do an animation.
