That's exactly how it feels. But then this is something the CSM asked, and certainly the CSM is not like your average player... EVE residents: 5% Wormholes; 8% Lowsec; 20% Nullsec; 67% Highsec. CSM 6: 100% Nullsec residents.

Well, first impressions aside, your default ship (which you WILL see many times) should look pleasing.
They are also a common sight (and will likely be more so now) in space while traveling or docking.
I would say it's actuallly a reasonable investment of time. When I check troll in the dictionary, it has a photo shopped picture of you standing somewhere in the vicinity of a point.
Also, I can kill you with my brain. |

I'm frankly surprised by all the people saying you only ever see these ships during the first 15 minutes of your EVE life. Do you guys never pod-travel? Don't you ever make use of the smartbomb-(kindof-)insurance rookie ships provide? GÇ£If you're not willing to fight for what you have in GëívGëí you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.GÇ¥

You can look up the appearance and base stats of any player available ship in the game, in the game itself. It's not my fault if they have no sense of curiosity.
And I really wasn't talking about it working like a Tengu so much as it obviously sharing the shape of a Hookbill with the Caldari style they came up with for the Tengu. In other words it looks sleek, organic and advanced. This isn't really something you see in Caldari ships until you hit the Scorpion, Raven or Tengu. I used to be a Blade Runner like you, then I took an android to the knee... |

If your first impression is limited to the look of a starting ship you will replace inside of an hour then I say good riddance... Wasting hundreds of combined man hours on these ships is beyond pointless...
However having said that, they do look much improved. |

As an ex pvper I cannot recall how many times I had to spent flying a velator somewhere and playing fox hole against my would be pursuers. It was most always enjoyable getting two rival gangs to slam into each other though.
And like I said if they upgrade the hardware of rookie ships to no longer REQUIRE the other ships to be issued then you're going to have problems if you stuck with old model.
I have gone though an Eve where I was litterally in my rookie ship for the first two weeks because I coudlnt afford a tristan let alone have proper skills to fly it. This is also the same eve that then vet's told me tutorial? huh, when I joined eve there wasn't one.
NPE changes are so rapid I stopped testing them out now becuase they're ramming into each other and not making the agents happy.

most of those newb ships look awful, good for CCP in realizing that if your going to start somewhere, start from the bottom. I'm sure the ART DEPARTMENT will be redesigning some more ships because they need to stay busy you know.......doing things like.....designing art. |

If getting started in EVE wasn't important to you I'm amazed that you're still here.

If that new Reaper becomes reality they'll have to do a similar re-vamp of all the other Minmatar ships or no new Minnie players will ever want to leave their rookie ships. |

Hey ask any Executive Outcomes member back in the day why my call sign was 'Ship on Fira"
I may not have been a lethal pvper I was on of the more resiliant pilots at the time.
