Don't usually like posting to the forums but after having thought about my options I feel that I have no choice but to pursue this matter further.
Without boring everybody I have recently come back to the game with a 60 day email pass. Excited about playing a game I honestly had forgotten about, the lure of the new features and a new graphix package on my home system I was lured in.
But I don't feel like playing any more.
After hanging around in the last place I docked many, many years ago I found that my corp and my friends had largely disbanded, no longer were we in the Black Legions alliance that we were in previously. I was very much on my own. I got talking to some swell guys in local and we discussed some new fittings and playing styles.
I decided I was goiing to take the route of the Caldari again and the Drake would be my weapon of choice. But drat, no isk but for a few million in the corp wallets. It was coming up to my birthday and my gran was round and she gave me a gift, so me beeing a video game freak decided to visit the shattered crystal site and buy a game time for selling on the market. I could now afford my drakes and all was good.
I now had a fleet of drakes ready to explore this wild new game. I was nervously excited as I undocked in my new drake. After attacking somebody on the station I docked as I realised this guy was not reading from the same hymn book. He camped me in station for two hours, each time trying to destroy my ship. In the ned I logged out the computer and retired for the evening.
This had soured my taste a little but I was determined to get the better and enjoy my game. The next day we managed to undock in peace and I set about my adventure. And this is where I feel let down by the game. My game experience was about to get bad and I was about to experience the very reason I think I left the game in the first place all them years ago.
I know people will call me stupid but I visited a low security system off of my main navigation route, I was shooting the local pirate spawns and noticed more and more people in local. They didn't interfere and each time they waited and left I just went to the station and waited them out. I felt good, more confidence as I engaged more and more pirates. I had heard before about pirates but my drake was handling them better than I imagined.
I was minding my own businness when another ship came into the belt and I cursed and screamed as I thought this could be trouble but I managed to warp off and I put it down to good luck that he found me. I was about to leave after collecting some bounties when I made the foolish decision of one more bounty. One more buck for the end of the day pay package.
This time I wasn't so lucky. This idiot had me. I could not escape, somehow he had me and was not letting go. I panicked. I shot some at him but he had a much better ship than me and in the end I watched as my beloved first drake was downed in front of me. Right at this point the game sucked. Some ******* had his day, I vowed at that moment to have mine. I chased him down, he would not accept an invite to chat so I found him hiding. I told them I would have my revenge.
And now here I am. I have drakes. I need to know how I can get these guys who try to ruin my gaming experience, take my own GRANDMOTHER'S cash and blow it up in the name of a laugh as I'm sure these toolheads think it is. How can I extract my revenge? I am willing to pay for the right advice. Willing to kick along in hunting squads. Need to know, cos right now I'm an angry guy. Literally seething at the unwanted loss of my drake. The first loss in my fleet.
Help me crime and punishers, you are my only hope.

Welcome BACK to eve!
I suggest you start finishing the tutorial as you'll get a few nice ships and skillbooks you can use. After that I suggest you try The Blood-Stained Stars epic arc (the final boss can be though). After that I suggest you join R vs. B if you want to learn PvP or continue your way upward towards Level 4 missions.
This is what ships you should use for missions: level 1 missions: frigate/destroyers. level 2 missions: cruisers. level 3 missions battlecruisers. level 4 missions battleship.
Don't rush it though! It can take a few months before you get the propper skills to fly and use a battleship!
eve-survival is a very nice site that can help you with missions and triggers (triggers are the ship that will spawn the next wave when destoryed).
Eve university is also a nice corp to join while learning the ropes!
Have fun and please don't use more of your dear grandmother's money to buy PLEXes! I strongly doubt that is what she'd want.
EDIT: And for the answer to your question about revenge, try this.
Now can I haz iskies? |

Losing a Drake in a belt in lowsec isn't even piracy. tbh, that pirate probably thought you were there for a gudfite. That's where the lowsec pirates hang out when they're looking for fights, after all.

a little bit?? Op needs a hella lot smarter fit.
To op, did you even search or look around fits for drake? Your fit is very poor either for pve or pvp. I'd suggest trying pvp in a smaller/less expensive ships, but if u like drakes then so be it. But do check fits in battle clinic next time. You don't have to follow them, but it gives a nice framework for you to work with.
And the pirates you heard about are not the same as what you were killing in low sec. |

I'll say it again just to make sure you got the message: HTFU.
Basically, knowledge is power in this game. If you fail or neglect to make yourself knowledgeable about where you are going, how to navigate and operate safely in low sec, how to properly fit your ship, how to kill a rifter (or at least disengage from one), how to use your directional scanner, and so many other things, then no amount of help from us will ever be enough.
Do some research, reading, watch fraps videos - especially before leaving high sec if you aren't experienced flying in low or null. Sig tanking is the new black |

This was a fun read. If you can not accept the loss of your ship the moment you undock then eve is not the game for you. You must adapt or die. But going out into lowsec is a herp move. Your asking to lose your ship. In highsec at least you have some protection. |

Lowsec is the most dangerous place in eve. Don't go there if you are not ready to fight players.
Also, never forget the first rule of eve: Never fly anything you can't afford to lose.
This doesn't mean you have more drakes, this means if you are gonna get mad about loosing it, don't even undock in it. Sit in station looking at your shiny, and when you do undock, use a ship you don't care about loosing.
Oh, and by posting to Crime and Punishment, you just made yourself a target, even in highsec, because you have poured such tasty tears on the ever fertile soil of grief. Inappropriate signature removed, CCP Phantom. |

you got killed by Miura Bull... I'm not entirely sure you understant that honor. He is a writer for http://brutorbullfighter.blogspot.com/ ... some great reads on that page. When I see that guy in local .. i always give him a o/ . That dude is quality.
He is a good writer and a awesome pvper.
But something fishy about all this I can't quite put my finger on... Based on the type of story and how long it was about a single drake loss... and how well its written... could it be the same OP who is a contributor to the blog... I wouldn't go so far to say it Miura Bull himself, but one of his dark smelly rifter writers may have a hand in this.

There are three people from my early days of Eve that I'd like to repay for being risk-averse noob bashers. I don't go after them. I just wait, and watch for the opportunity. I had a shot at one once when we were at war with his alliance, but it turns out he fits his PVP Scorpion with warp stabs and he was able to flee when I got the jump on him. Like I said, risk-averse.
Remember the guys you want revenge on, but don't go looking for it. As soon as they realize you're after them, they'll lay a trap and you'll be down two ships because of them. Learn from your losses, harden up, and keep flying. |

You got dropped by a badass. No shame in this, but get out of LS until you know more about what you're doing. Also don't fly what you can't afford to lose and don't ever go on C&P to emo rage about solo losing a Drake to a Rifter.
*shakes head*
You realize Drakes properly fit shield tank almost as good as alot of Battleships right? And by properly fit I mean 'named' T1 modules and/or T2 modules. Not Civvy garbage. 'perfer et obdura; dolor hic tibi proderit olim'

Seriously OP, you clearly don't have the skills yet to be flying a Drake in lowsec. Don't take shortcuts. Do the tutorials.
And don't buy PLEX to buy ships you can't afford. When you're ready to fly such ships, the ISK will already have naturally accumulated in your wallet.

Perhaps this is not the game for you. They don't tell you this, but full name of this game is actually "EVE Online: Non-Consensual Buttfuckery."

Welcome to EVE.
Having said that, some advice;
1. Never, ever fly what you can't afford to loose. 2. EVE is a PvP game, people are going to blow you up question is not 'if' it's 'when' so don't get attached to ships consider anything you undock as 'lost'. 3. High sec is somewhat safer (no, not totally safe either) then lowsec or nullsec. Personally I think it pleads for you that you went into lowsec regardless of the risk, but see point 1 & 2. 4. If you loose a ship and don't know why; ask the culprit. More often then not they'll be happy to explain what you did wrong. Unless you say, throw a tantrum in their public chat ;) 5. If you must cry. Cry on the inside. Crying in public in EVE will get you ridiculed and little else and then some meanie will post your chatlogs. 6. If you feel you must operate in lowsec I highly suggest you join a corp or alliance that lives there, there are plenty of non-pirate organisations in lowsec, when you and your new found friends are ready to come extract REVENGE we can be found around Molden Heath, please do bring it, we enjoy PvP. 7. Don't hire Rebirth. they're terrible and afraid of going into lowsec. 8. Not sure if it helps but there's people out there that do even dumber stuff; http://r1fta.killmail.org/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=12535759 (yes really!)

*le sigh* You are being made fun of. Eve is best described as Mos Eisley. We are NOT nice people here, as a general rule, and even the ones who are nice will hurt you as bad as they can if you give them a chance.
And the bulk of the people who post on the forums, especially C&P, find you getting angry to be one of the funniest things in the world. This is not a place you will get sympathy, tho you will get ALOT of good advice, if you can filter the trolling.

There needs to be some form of barrier to stop the kind of experience that happened to me. It wasnt fun, wasnt funny and it did not warrent all the abuse just because I was not happy why should a bunch of gamers poke fun? I dont understand you people I just can not get in the mindset of making out you a internet hero because you blew up MY PROPERTY. I fail to see how I am in the worng here? If it was PRETEND money then I would have been happy to shrug it away. BUT. IT WAS NOT. People dont quite understand. This whole episode has let me down in truth.

Bojan, you're being an idiot. While you may have a carebear career (and a terrible one at that), some of us pirate for ISK. We kill you, loot your stuff, and salvage your wreck. That's just how it is. If you don't like it, then maybe you shouldn't fartz around in lowsec where you are far more vulnerable than in highsec. It would also help if you didn't have such a terrible fit on your Drake. That Rifter should NOT have been able to take you out like that.
So lessons learned:
- If you go into lowsec, expect you could be a victim of non-consensual pvp on a regular basis - Fit your ship properly. Do the research and don't whine when you get taken out by a solo T1 Frigate - Don't cry on the C&P forums unless you want to become the laughing stock of every pirate in EVE. - HTFU (Harden the F*** Up) - Welcome back to EVE. |

Go take a nap. I promise it will all be better in the morning.
Unless, of course, you're one of those people who take video games too seriously, then, really, I got nothing for you.
Consider this a lesson learned, with two of the most important lessons being:
1) Never fly what you can't afford to lose
2) Man up or GTFO
Honestly, EvE happened. No one cares about your **** as much as you do. To everyone else, you're just a target.
You're not the first player to get scammed or ganked, but you just joined an elite minority that lets everyone else know you supply tears to fuel our internet spaceships.
Don't blame the game for your misfortune. It has barriers in place that warn you that what you were about to do might be ill advised, you just choose not to heed those warnings.
Those little numbers next to the system names...they're there for a reason. Pay attention to them.
Eve is a cruel mistress. She will not love you back, no matter how much you court her.
If you cannot accept these facts, then perhaps this is not the game for you. |

You elitists should be ashamed of yourselves! You should be helping this poor guy in his time of need, not mocking him!
To the OP, firstly, missiles are only good against NPCs. What you want are projectile weapons. The bigger the better. Yes, I know, that large artillery cannon might be a little tough to fit, but trust me, that nasty overpowered Rifter would never know what hit him. Oh, and while you're using artillery cannons, you might be tempted to stay at long range, but that's only going to hurt your accuracy. You want to be as close to that rifter as possible.
I'd recommend you use civilian modules, but I see you've already done that. Good job! The less skill points spent on support skills, the more you can spend on your new large projectile turrets instead. Or turret. Don't worry, just one will do.
Make sure you fit a cloaking device too. You know those silly little stealth bombers? Try flying a huge stealth battlecruiser! That rifter will probably surrender just from seeing you decloak 2km away from him with your artillery cannon aimed vaguely in his general direction.
Don't forget your cargohold expanders. Every pirate I've talked to has regretted not having enough cargo space to pick up the precious loot left behind by their victims. With your artillery fitted stealth battlecruiser, you do not want to repeat their mistake!
...and while you seek revenge against that evil rifter, and anyone that dared to mock you in this thread, perhaps you could try hauling some PLEX to lowsec for massive profits? |

With that kind of fit, it's a surprise the Drake didn't die sooner. Drakes aren't meant for Civ Shield Boosters. In fact, they're not designed for Active Shield Tanking of any kind. He'd be better off with more Large Shield Extenders and Shield Rechargers than any kind of Civ-module. Miura Bull (the guy who killed the Drake) actually did the poor ship a favour.
If you can't fit a Drake properly, you're not ready to exact revenge at all. Go train some skills to actually improve your tank before you try again. |

I seriously, seriously suggest you do the following:
1> Put an app in for Eve Uni (or other training corps) -- Do that today 2> Ditch the higher tier ships for frigates. Not only is that cheaper, but also quicker to train up to fly well. 3> As already suggested.. check battleclinic for fittings advice for your chosen frigate. 4> Specialise in flying frigates before moving on. 5>If you want revenge... follow the steps above and dont't give up.
Lastly... being a noob isn't shameful... it's the inability to learn that is shameful.

Anyone can get on the bandwagon and laugh at the fit and the fact that his Drake lost against a Rifter. Easy to do.
At least he had the guts to 1, get into low, and 2, ask for help and advice in the forums despite his loss. Give him that much credit.
MOST players wont even get into low but instead be mining or trading in high. .................It's the eye of the tiger, it's the thrill of the fight Risin' up to the challenge of our rival And the last known survivor stalks his prey in the night And he's watchin' us all with the eye of the tiger............... |

You're just getting that we are making fun of you? Could that be because you never did enough research to understand that using a warp scrambler/disruptor to keep you from warping isn't a hack or a cheat?
I'm willing to cut you a little slack since you're a new player and all, but there are regions of space with varying levels of security for a reason. Also, you are consenting to getting your ship blown up when you click "Undock". Doesn't matter if it's in highsec, lowsec, or null. If someone wants to destroy your ship, they will...one way or another.
This is a game bro. It's also not Hello Kitty online. You will get your ships blown up and your stuff stolen via scams if your dumb enough. Sometimes it'll be for a reason, and sometimes there'll be no reason at all. EVE is considered one of the most hardcore MMO's out on the market for a reason. It's shady, it's seedy, and when your stuff is gone it's really gone. CCP isn't giving it back unless there is a damn good reason. My advice to you is to harden the f*** up, take your loss as a learning experience, join a good player corp, and have fun. |

It's an important point to you've made there... that should be emphasized... NO ONE IS SAFE IN EVE... even in high Sec... too many times i've seen miners feel safe in a high sec system, and yet not do the basics that could 'help' protect themselves (like checking local and overview, aligning out, etc).

Seriously though,
I am new to Eve, been playing a couple weeks. I decided to try Eve because i heard it was the best MMO for PVP. And it is! But thats the thing, I'm not sure this is for you. This entire game is PVP-centered. Personally, I have undocked and flown many a punisher into lowsec with the intention of getting blown up and learning a thing or two. Eve is all about losing ships, so I really don't think you should be playing this game... unless you realize that you will eventually blow someone else up, which is what its all about, for me anyways. |

But the rage...oh the RAGE!
TBH, I'm surprised this thread is still going. I just figured that since the OP prob ragequit for good by now, that people would have left him alone, but when sharks smell blood in the water....well, you know. Sig tanking is the new black |

And all this time I thought I was a good troller. This *IS* a troll right? I mean...it is isn't it? Just say it is ok.....Someone? CCP and even the CSM have a lot of hardworking men and women who are very intelligent, working on making New Eden a better place-it is CCP management that I fear the most. |

I think after page 1, everyone knew it was a troll. To be fair, most of C&P are content to feed the trolls as long as they are permitted to do so with flames. Sig tanking is the new black |

reply to OP. You came back to EVE after 10 years and lost a ship in lo-sec. think they call that a learning curve. EVE's can be like that. Welcome back. |

While the "le sigh" comment points to a Redditer more then assperienced EvE'er, I get the feeling that said OP may very well be a nontroll.
What strikes me as interesting/hilarious, is the comments about real money and lost property. Apparently the OP has missed the MMO warning sign that states the entire EVE universe is one big place everyone plays in, and everything can be shot/lost/bought/sold, unlike almost every other MMO where you loose little to nothing when you die.
Bringing Grandma's $$$ into the game and converting it into drakes (how the OP got that far alone is questionable) without proper fittings (or even skills to have proper fittings?) raises the Troll flag a bit, but then again, this is the internet, this is EvE, and this could very well be a true nooby noob that really needs to go play the Tutorials, and read a bit of the good advice that does exist here and elsewhere before stepping outside of a station in anything bigger than a Frigate.
EVE is a great terrible brilliant game, but going out completely oblivious to the danger will only leave yourself to blame. |

As a PL talent scout I see that you have more then enaf skill to fly amongst the best so therefore I'm personally inviting you to join us. You will be provided with as many drakes as you require until you can fly a titan so that one can be issued to you. Feel free to apply to any of the corps preferably Body Count Inc. [BDCI] that have insisted for your application.

My god, so much hostility in this thread. This is something I tell anyone I invite to EvE: You are flying a wreck, you just haven't realized it yet (unless you're a Minmatar pilot, in which case you know it from the second you see the hull). EvE is beautiful in that there is no real "right" or "wrong" way to play the game. Yes, fitting a CNR with a cloak and cargo expanders and flying it into lowsec isn't the smartest idea, but you typically learn what items on your ship helped you and what only contributed to your demise. Every ship loss serves as a learning experience. Instead of getting frustrated, it's better to assess what you did wrong and improve on it, rather than throwing a bitchfit in local. If you're trying to play basketball and miss a shot, do you just give up on the game or do you look at what you are doing wrong and work to improve it? Although EvE's PVP is the equivalent of someone running up, popping your basketball and kicking you in the yarbles, you should not let this deter you. You lost a ship, so what? Do missions, do ninja salvaging, scam Jita, explore new areas, run incursions or get with a corporation that is wiling to point you in the right direction. Start small with PvP, take out the almighty Rifter for a spin, or maybe a Merlin since you appear to be a Caldari pilot. Work your way up to where you can safely jump a gate, have your ship be a wreck before the next system loads, and you can nod and accept the loss as a part of the game.
Whether this is a troll or not, I'm uncertain, but this type of situation is one of the things that makes EvE different from other MMOs. There's not only a learning curve to the game, but a maturity curve. That's why I believe the game has less subscribers than WoW, but still remains relevant: because the ones that can tough it out really do find this game can be a work of art and a joy to play. |

Go train some skills to actually improve your tank before you try again.
Riiight, ok - so there's no way that an active tanked Drake would ever work? Ah, ok, never mind - I didn't notice at first that you work for Aliastra...a space supermarket.
