the lookat feature is very handy for seeing exactly where the other ship is warping to, maybe it was that.

He can see where you are going by the trails you leave. It's a good way of locating someone.
If you're in a cruiser, industrial or Bship, he'll also warp faster to where you are going.
Perhaps it's that?

i was using a kestrel, and the system had A LOT of moons (WD-VTV). I just warped to one of the MANY moons, and 1 sec after he was there, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE! and no gang! trails? not even with trails he could find what moon im warping too, in fact, he would quite much more time!

No its not impossible. You warped to a moon and he warped after you. He probably saw where you warped to and followed, if not he was probably lucky. Its very possibly, I've done it tons of times, and I've even had a bship warp to me at a random moon. Its hard to escape from an interceptor, especially when he knows what he's doing.

Edited by: DB Preacher on 14/04/2004 17:21:07 Any half decent pvp'er can follow prey all over the place. If you do eventually shake them, you just make a educated guess as to where they would be given the following ratio:
EXPERIENCE - BLINDPANIC + HOMEGROUNDADVANTAGE / NUMBEROFCELESTIALBODIES * REPETITIONOFLASTCHOICE = chance of catching your opponent at the celestial body you are about to check at.
And your wrong... it's not impossible to guess whether you are going to a moon or not.

If you're close to the planet, you can see what moon someone warps to aswell.
And yea, you have no proof, no point, no case, and you're throwing exploit accusations around. So... you know what you have to do... -

Why? You can track people to midwarp bookmarks too.
This *still* isn't a case for exploiting.

Turn your shield booster on for a longish time to kill your cap and warp somewhere far away, hopefully you'll end up in the middle of nowhere and he wont be able to find you then. (until those new ships come in anyway) ------------------------------------------

#1 - it is very possible to follow someone, especially if he was in an interceptor. with high trained skills (which he most likely has with a crow) it's possible to follow very easily. Also - if you were experiencing lag between your client and the server, and he was not, that would make it appear that he warped in after you in the time frame that you mentioned. I'd be very skeptical that any kind of exploit like that is even possible, let alone used in your case.
#2 - the comment was quite amusing viceroy

Hold the alt key down in space and it highlights all celestial objects then all he had ot do was watch your trails and follow you.

Polaris and GM's have a feature the will warp right to you. Probably some console command. Whether this command is inaccessible to normal player if they know it, I don't know. And it's anyone's guess with EVE.

there are also people who are very good with their scanners. but with the timeframe you're talking about its more likely he was using the look at feature and when you oriented for warp he held alt to spot the celestial body then just mouse overed it and double clicked.

In defence of Ahlaia who is being flamed here, i have to say ive suffered a similiar scenario in a 3 warp chase to random moons,
the said moons appear on the drop down menu when you highlight a celestial object far in the distance, with this in mind i could be heading to any of 20 moons in that direction, quite how my pursuer managed to guess right everytime was beyond me...
(before anyone attempts to explain this i would like to stress that all you would be able to ascertain by eye from my warp trail would have been that i was warping to planet X or one of its many moons)

Ah my young padawan you still have much to learn First you must learn that the darkside is stronger than the lightside And an experiensed pilot will manny times make experiensed guesses, wich will often bee correct.

Harry: By being a good tracker.
Jet: I already told you the formula for working out how to track someone!
EXPERIENCE - BLINDPANIC + HOMEGROUNDADVANTAGE / NUMBEROFCELESTIALBODIES * REPETITIONOFLASTCHOICE = chance of catching your opponent at the celestial body you are about to check at.
Probably should insert luck in there too somewhere.

I can find people warping to solar system safe spots. So don't tell me what's possible and what not - that guy did not exploit anything but his own skills.

Following people in their warp is a specialisation, an artform i try to master and feel that im the one who is near mastering this irl 'skill'.
My record at the moment is following the target to 18 moons before i got him, also this artform is based on luck. If there are 3 moons clustered together and its impossible to see where the target moves too you need to gues. If you gues wrong then its game over.
What you also should consider is that an interceptor has level 5 evasive manuevering as requirement, due to this you allign faster for warp and thus you are able to follow people easier. - - -

LOL was his name GM white in the crow... lol sorry had to do that from my old PA days... given how that guy plays and the number of "accidents" that happened under his watch. LOL... anyways it's possible by using the alt key. Would be interesting to know if those "commands" work on non-polaris crowned players though. If it's just a matter of unlocking it in the pref.ini file or something... if not... i would just say very lucky... From Ashes to Ashes... From Dust to Dust....
