Well, I thought I had everything planned out till a few hours ago college wise and stuff, but that was until I got accepted into Cal Poly. So my current choices on college are Embry-Riddle on daytona beach for about 26k total cost, Daniel Webster in the north east somewhere for about half that, Cal Poly for about 22k, Whichita State Univ. for about 16k, and Florida Institute of Tech. I'm hoping on going to major in Aerospace Engineering/ Aeronautical Engineering. I was born in Texas and raised in Florida (currently living in Austin though), so I'm not really familiar with people in Cali.
So my main questions are... Does anyone have first hand experience with these schools? Does anyone have first hand experience in these majors? And what is living on the beach in Cali like?

Daniel Webster is in New Hampshire. For what you are majoring in I would rate Embry-Riddle as #1 and Cal Poly as #2. Riddle is known mainly for their aerospace program.

Whatever you do don't go into Micro-Biology. If you find a cure for anything you will likely be assassinated to keep it quiet.

That would be your incentive to find the cure.
I can't think of a better way to light a fire under your butt; except perhaps some rocket booster fuel.

That's alright sephra, I thought you and your NWO thing were there to protect people from the suspected threat of "the man", not suggest that they take off their tinfoil hats. Back to topic though, I'm under the impression that these colleges have not had a shooting yet, so your suggestion dosen't help much either as of now. Could someone discuss that isn't a troll?

On a serious note I think you should choose the place you attend based on aesthetic aspects having to do with the culture and fun you could have instead of the acedemics.
You should enjoy yourself for a couple of years and then transfer.

There are already treatments for heavy metals toxicity that are very successful and fairly simple to administer. A magnesium chloride, iodine, and sodium bicarbonate (yeah baking soda) is just one of the treatments used in hospitals for treating heavy metal exposure. Longer term treatments can clear any effects completely out of your system as long as you dont take too long to start treatment.
Of course there's always....hey wait who are you?....Wait!...Put down the gun!...Aargghh!...

Edited by: Gojyu on 26/03/2008 06:24:57 I'm going to have to second the notion of not judging a college purely by it's academics. I'm nearing the end of my degree, and looking back on it, although the grades and marks and all that jazz are important, I'd say that equally important is the fun I had outside the classrooms. I'm going to be blunt. If you're going into aerospace engineering, you've got a good 30-40 years of being a boring office worker ahead of you. Promiscous sex and drunken parties are something I generally don't associate with McDonald Douglas etc.
Don't waste the few years you have focussing on school above all else, I've seen people who do that, they get High Distinctions in everything they do, have lists of awards as long as their arms and I wouldn't trade places with them for a minute. If Embrey Riddle is the sausage-fest that I'm getting the gist of in my quick google of it, I'd strongly advise staying clear of it.

I'm not really into the party scene, I'll have something hanging out with a few people but nothing big, and by no means do I plan on getting distinction and such. But I'm still looking for quality education with an instructor thats willing to help me out, not just point to where I need to read. I'm looking for a happy balance between fun and work ya know? I can't just blow my first couple years because I do need to build some decent study habits, and if I can do that and still have some cool people to hang out with then all the better right?

I hear they're cannibals in California.
Jebus man it's different states, it's not like they have an identity anyways.

Well moving from Tampa to Austin held a great change people wise. I think it's just Austin though, but people here are way more lax than in Tampa, and there is a smaller ghetto style population which is another +1 for me. I have never been to California, so I ask what the people are like there.

Several states do have identity! California is a bunch of liberal wierdos, Utah is a bunch of mormons, New York has New York city and all accompanying stereotypes, and Florida has a pleasant mix of retired folks, teachers that sleep with students, amazing beaches, and people that can't figure out ballots.

Assuming you'll get shot and/or stabbed in any of them, so does it really matter?

Not that I know of illusha, and as I said previously, none of these schools are in a violent area nor have a history of violence that I know of.

The U.S. Army Research Laboratory has established a Collaborative Technology Alliance in the area of Micro Autonomous Systems and Technology (MAST).
The Berkeley MAST team includes EECS Profs. Michel Maharbiz, Clark Nguyen, Kris Pister, Ronald Fearing, Claire Tomlin, and Shankar Sastry, and includes 8 other universities and NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab. The goal of the MAST project is to enable the autonomous operation of a collaborative ensemble of multifunctional, mobile microsystems. The MAST project, including options, provides funding of up to $89 million over the next 10 years.
