Anyone here have experience with this BSOD error? My research has turned up that it can be caused by nearly anything and Microsoft has everything but straightforward answers. I suspect my vidcard but it could be my mobo, or any other component for that matter.
So, just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this happening while playing EVE.

In my experience you will get refered to your hardware vendor by microsoft and then refered to microsoft by your hardware vendor.
But it is most likely some 3rd party software that is causing this, one correlation I have found is that this happens most often when the system disk is not "c:\". But that is nothing conclusive, just something I noticed.

I've been getting it since I got my PC and not necessarily from running EVE.
Haven't really gone and tried changing everything to fix it yet, but I really should get around to it sometime. ------------

Initial suspect would be bad memory (or another bad component). I would start by downloading Memtest86+ and letting it run for 24 hours. -- You can't do that with a Planet. |

Note the stop code and search it. Most of the stop codes have been catalogued with a 'best guess' cause.

By any chance do you have a 975 intel chipset and onboard Realtek HD sound? (and sound enabled in eve) if so check here: http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=434106

BAD_POOL_HEADER seems to turn up here and there. It's usually a hardware driver problem.
If any of these apply to you, try to download the latest driver for your affected software/hardware:
* Drivers for some NetGear (and other brand) wireless adapters. * Drivers for all kinds of hardware. * Indexing service * Conflict between active anti-virus scanning software and some CD burning software

Wow, I wasn't expecting such a response! Thanks to everyone for chiming in. I'll investigate it further. It's a frustratingly vexing problem. I've completely FDisked and reformatted my drive and reinstalled everything from the ground up, in the past, and still this problem persists. I'll check some of these leads though. I really hope I can make it go away, or at the very least diagnose which piece of hardware is the culprit so I can replace it.
Thanks again everyone!

My answer is yes to all the above but it has never affected me. Don't know why this is an issue for some people. There must be other factors involved as well, graphics card or some other hardware that causes the conflict to occur when added to this chipset/sound combo. It seems that this is a particular setup specific problem rather than a chipset/sound limited problem.
My system: 975 chipset + realtek onboard sound Nvidia 7600 PCI-E graphics Maxtor STM3160211AS SATA II HDD Seagate ST3400620AS SATA II HDD Western Digital WD2000JB-00DUA0 SATA I HDD ASUS DRW-1608P3S Dual Layer DVD writer. Nvidia nForce Networking Controller.
The rest is USB. --

I was getting random hard crashes in all programs after I installed the ATI 8.3 drivers. Rolling back to 8.2 fixed it all up. --------------------- Q: WTF! Why?! A: Because I can. --------------------- |
