The only acceptable way to trade GTCs is via the secure trading system. Right now, the "Timecode Bazaar" (by the way, thanks, great change to split char sales from GTC sales, but it just isn't enough) is practically "unpoliceable", at least bump-wise, there's just too much going on too fast.
How HARD would it be to only slightly modify the in-game market system to work on a "global" scale (available on the webpage) so that we can simply close that forum section for good ? A much cleaner forum, a much better service to both GTC sellers and buyers, and a much more fluid (and transparent) secure GTC trade system. I mean, would be nice to see how many (and what kind) of GTCs are being sold/bought, see a nice little price history and so on and so forth, high convenience for both parties (no longer have to be online at the same time, just place a buy or sell order and wait until it gets filled).
Seriously, why can't we just have that ? Is it that's too hard to code ? I have problems believing that. Is it that you don't want us to have something like that ? If not... WHY ?

Or better yet, add it into the My Account screen, with an option to buy a GTC in game, and automatically choose the cheapest option available.

Isn't this what I just said ?
Of course, that's just one part of it (insta-buy from lowest sell order). Like in-game, you would have the other three options too (place a buy order lower than lowest sell, sell directy to highest buy order, and put a sell order highet than lowest sell order). You'd also be getting the same reports you get in-game (quantity traded the past days/months, median price, min/max price, etc).

Nope. You are talking about having it in game. I am talking about having it out of game.
There was talk on here a while ago of implementing them as in game 'Pilot Licenses' that were required to fly, and I like that, in effect doing the opposite of what is now - making subscription an in game immersion event, just letting people buy it out of game. I quite like that idea, and as I said would give a bit more immersion in the game.

Thread title says... >> Just give us a global GTC market under "My Account" already, will ya ? <<
Sorry if you missed that.

Yes, yes I had. My bad. The text though implied you wanted it as part of the market in game, which would make things very easy. "Pilot's License Expiry" as a data field in Character window ftw.

Good idea. Not too sure about that automatically accepting the lowest sell order tho as it would create jita 4-4 syndrome with 0.01 isk undercutters. It's not bad syndrome on itself but I would propably prefer just option to sort by price and not buy the cheapest code if I happen to have any reason to dislike the seller going instead for some seller with good in game reputation (even if it's say whole 15 isk more expencive than lowest sell order).

Well, you could have a dual system, both under "My Account" and in-game. However, since it would have to be global for best results (and would involve no physical items), it would have to run on a separate "metaregion" with slightly diffeent rules, and therefore be separated from the regular market.

Actually making timecards as in game market items that add automatically to your gametime when you buy them would be the simplest implementation propably. It would just need to implemented that way that only one who has bought it for RL money can sell it and as soon as it changes hands it gets added to account to avoid fishy stuff.
Only problem in that case would be how to buy timecode with inactive account so that parallel systems idea seems to be pretty good also. That is if making kinda forums automatic marketplace would be too problematic or work intencive.

Edited by: Kazuo Ishiguro on 05/04/2008 15:26:16 You'd need two options: buy GTC for self, or buy to sell for isk. Also, if you'd bought a code from a third-party retailer, you'd need 'redeem code for self' and 'redeem code for ingame-tradeable voucher'.
Ideally, the vouchers would have a right-click 'redeem' option available from any location, so people wouldn't need to move them around, or would be ethereal, like shares, and tradeable via contracts rather than on the market. Contracts leave the better audit trail, I think, so they'd probably be the better option. You could still sort them by price, but the loss of market history would be a bit annoying.
