okey am i the only one that don't understand why t2 weaponry is actually worse then the equel t1 best named (not officer or command, just named)??
seriously, there was a time when t2 was something that you would strife to get, now there really is no point, who want to use another 90 days to get the T2 large guns, when they can just pay 20 millions more and wupti they have the same dmg output for less cap use and less fitting req...
something needs a little fix... I declare war on stupidity |

Ok, I'll bite.
Less damage actually. That specialization skill makes a big damage difference.
If you're tight on fittings, get best named. If you have room to spare or want the damage, get T2. You also lose the T2 ammo advantage, which is actually significant if you want to snipe.
You would also need the all skills to get T2 weapons in pvp anyway, it's more cost effective, etc etc. ______

what ghost said,
except for short range where faction ammo is about the same, slightly less damage but no penalties from faction ammo. i would rather use amarr navy multifrequency than say gleam or conflag most of the time. and for faction crystals they last longer than t2

t2 = cost, slight more damage
named = fitting, cap
t2 is about = to best named... which I think is a little stupid but that's the way ccp like it.

totally agree. i would never ever switch to t1 named guns again. the difference is just too big. i usually fit t2 guns first, then go for the t2 tank. then i adapt the rest of the setup (i actually do it different when fitting nanoships).
t2 usually has the same stats as best named but alsmost always consumes more cap and cpu/pg. i'm totally fine with that, because the best named item costs allot more as well + you usually get some bonus from the spec skill. i also think that there is some modules with weird stats in the database that need fixing. best named BCS prices are stupidly high - dunno why, because the fitting requirements are higher + bonus is less than t2.

The skills needed to fit t2 guns alone give your rate of fire, damage and range a boost plus the ammo is higher dmg/range than t1 although it does have drawbacks.

yes but the difference from t1 to t2 is about 80-90 days of training and only a 7% increase in dmg+ - . the price doesn't really matter since this is set by the player, and the reason t1best named cost this much is because there are so many wanting it and using it, and not a very high supply.
i just see it as stupid that t2 guns have become so bad that it is more of if you care to get that luxury since you can just pay a little more and have almost as high ability as a perfect skilled vet. the old days where better, where T2 actually meant something, but back then they where maybe to much of a "must have" so something in between is what i see as the most balanced. If we're talking T2 weapons, the required specialization skills get you a full 10% more damage when trained to level 5. That's a big chunk. If you don't have the skills, or can't fit T2, use best named, and a lot of people are in that situation, which is why the best named modules have such a high price. T2 is fine just the way it is.

T1 best named will be as good as T2 when I can load Barrage S into 200mm Scouts. Until then, T2 all the way. -------------------- ICE Blueprint Sales FIRST!! -Yipsilanti Pfft. Never such a thing as a "last chance". ;) -Rauth |

this! and same for scorch and to a lesser extent null. not to mention sniper ammunition.
i don't like the fact that closerange faction ammo is so much better than t2 (all things considered). t2 closerange ammo with tracking penalties were a really, really bad idea. i can't for a minute imagine why they didn't change it when they introduced all those readily available faction ammo like an mf or cn antimatter. if they took away those penalties (or at least the tracking ones) the slightly higher base damage would be a real incentive again to train t2 next to the spec skills.
