Anyone else have a list of films they haven't been able to sit through and finish, even after a number of attempts at watching them? Whether too dull, too confusing, just crap.
Here's my prime ones ...
Being John Malkovic. (Just don't "get" it. Must be thick) Ronin. (Should be a corker. Has right ingredients but wrong recipe) Naked Lunch. (What? Just What?) Borat. (Offensive drivel) O Brother, Where Art Thou? (Will try this one more time, but just didn't get on with it.) Epic Movie. (Very far from epic, probably didn't help I'm totally the wrong generation and hadn't seen most of the films it's spoofing!)

Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life (It's got Angelina Jolie, Angelina F'in Jolie! in a stuffed bra for Zeus' sake! and it still sucked. But this could just be because I know a bit about Greece and archaeology).

12 Angry Men..I don't really like Tony Danza anyways Hot Fuzz..I made the mistake of renting this with my gf, and she just doesn't get that kind of humor, I thought it was hilarious, she got bored. We found an alternate activity that we could both agree on though.
I can't really think of any others, I'm an equal opportunity movie watcher, whether I like it or not, I'll generally sit through the whole thing so I can see what happens. I also feel like I wasted $8 on a ticket if I walk out of a movie.. ---- If you see me on the forums, it means that Calvin is inactive or getting me a beer or some such. |

He was in that right? I hope so, or I just made myself look even dumber than I really am. That or I thought that movie was so incredibly stupid, my brain just superimposed the head of the biggest douchebag it could come up with on some actor's head. ---- If you see me on the forums, it means that Calvin is inactive or getting me a beer or some such. |

He may have been, but not in the original, which was done when he was, at best, a baby. Check it out, you'll probably love it.
Edit - what you posted is akin to saying that Psycho sucked because Vince Vaughn was in it. Nothing against Vince Vaughn, but it's hardly a useful review.

Heh, I thought someone might pick up on that. Offensive to me. I can't stand people who don't deserve it getting shot down for no reason. Primarily the old couple who ran the guest house was the bit I hated most. It had it's funny moments, but nah, not for me.
To carry on the thread regarding 12 Angry Men ... you're not telling me they've recently re-made this classic have they?

It's been years since I tried to watch it, so I kinda doubt it, but for some reason I see the jury foreman in my mind as Tony Danza.I guess it wasn't a movie.
Now I don't feel so stupid.
edit: but I was wrong about who the foreman was. ---- If you see me on the forums, it means that Calvin is inactive or getting me a beer or some such. |

Have tried it twice on DVD, once when it was on TV and once on a plane when it was the in flight move (some time ago now!).
Each time it's failed to hold my attention. Sean Bean was a miscast PITA. I generally like the guy and didn't like him in that film. I just didn't care about any of them, whether they lived / died, whatever.
... and I generally love that type of film. Leon / Nikitta / HEAT. - all great!
Oh yeah I thought of another one. Munich. I've never been so close to gnawing my own arms of in a cinema. Just ... so ... dull.

There are three movies that pop to mind right away.
1. War Of The Worlds : The second Wave. One of the worst movie I have ever seen. Acting, story, directing and special fx are truly sub c-movie class.
2. Babel. I actually pulled thru the entire movie, waiting for something to actually happen. An episode of Murder She Wrote was more fun.
3. Secret Space : Documentary. I usually like documentaries of conspiracy and aliens etc. But this was very Youtube-esque. Showing random pictures of UFO's as the ultimate proof of alien life and them visiting the earth.

Anyone with an IQ >70?
Sorry, leotards and hair don't mix If you liked the movie... well... I guess you like hairy men.
Anyways:
Pan's Labyrinth... I've tried 4 times now but I just can't seem to get past 25 minutes... It's one of those movies I *should* like, but don't.
Many others, but I can't seem to think of them and its late.
Edit: Cloverfield and AVP2 were both TERRIBLE. I can't understand how movies that bad were released into theatres rather than 'straight to dvd'. I didn't even pay for them and was resentful of the time I wasted discovering how bad they were...

Edited by: Imperator Jora''h on 04/04/2008 11:37:17 This will probably be too obscure for all but real movie buffs here but I'll add it anyway:
Eraserhead
It's early David Lynch, supposedly a must see for serious film aficionados but WTF!
I have never seen a movie that was actually painful to watch like this one was. I really mean that...just disturbing in some vague way that leaves you decidedly unsettled.
My friends and I actually watched it twice back-to-back but smoked a blunt before the second showing figuring that would help somehow (that would make sense to you if you have seen it). Did not help at all.
If you truly do not like someone and want them to never talk to you again recommend this movie. It's not bad exactly...just profoundly difficult and disturbing to watch. We only managed it more as some right of passage and so we could be cool in our film class at uni else it would have been in the bin 10 minutes in.

Death Sentence. Got bored.
Dedication. Didn't turn off but should have.
Numb. See above.
The original "Solaris". Being obscure Russian sci fi it's always on at three in the morning and the hypnotic shots of the planet always send me to sleep.
2001 I only make it through 50% of the time.
Sean Bean is meant to be annoying in Ronin. It's kind of the point. I would say more but I don't know how far through you saw it. EVE RELATED CONTENT |
