So attempted to log into sisi and was confronted with the new eve launcher... oh joy
Surprise surprise there are a few bugs, some are detailed for computer uses of another well known operating system but cant see any for the mac's, so here goes.
First page says Client is up to date, then press play and receive Python Error during client opening (Can't load image from file... ./splash.bmp: file does not exist and no bitmap handler for type 1 defined. client continues to open... Test server status (Singularity) Status: Incompatible (Release) it checks patch status, and then receive the pop up message "The update has been downloaded. The client will now close and the update process begin. Press OK to continue." Press ok and the client quits and nothing happens.
This new launcher would be good if makes life simpler, but if it does not work, there looks like no options for manual patching. So hope the illusion of a richer environment is not at the cost of functionality. |

Mine gave me the error, but allowed me to click it and continue, but then it fired up my TQ client and not my SiSi client.
Even if I launch my SiSi manually, now the launcher comes up and it launches TQ |

Same problem here. I can get the client to load, but it points to Tranquility, even after fiddling the appropriate files as per Evelopedia. If this can't get fixed before Thursday, then there will be no Mac clients in the mass test.

I managed to get on Sisi! I had to download an entire client and run it with the terminal command per CCP instructions. It still generated errors when starting, but did start and let me in the game.
I left the terminal running and a large number of odd things got entered into it as eve ran, like:
Potential performance issue fixme:ddraw:MapSamplerIndex unsupported texture stage/sampler 16 fixme:ddraw:MapSamplerIndex unsupported texture stage/sampler 17 fixme:ddraw:MapSamplerIndex unsupported texture stage/sampler 18 fixme:ddraw:MapSamplerIndex unsupported texture stage/sampler 19 fixme:ddraw:D3D_GL_blit_framebuffer_check_size Resizing temporary renderbuffer. Potential performance issue fixme:ddraw:D3D_GL_blit_framebuffer_check_size Resizing temporary renderbuffer.
Just from moving the mouse about. There were pages and pages of stuff like this spewing into the terminal window.
Then I set the graphics on "Quality" and entered CQ (a case that crashes for me on TQ, every time). More pages of stuff, ending with:
err:win32:PE_InitDLL Exception occurred in PE entry point! Not very nice... fixme:crt:__clean_type_info_names_internal stub! {addr = 0x79dafe0c} err:win32:PE_InitDLL Exception occurred in PE entry point! ERROR: wineserver exiting unexpectantly!
And then got the normal transgaming runtime error dialog box.
I particularly like the "Not very nice..." as an error massage.
CCP, want more details? Bug report? Or is this all known issues?
P.S. Someone should learn how to spell unexpectedly. I am running for the CSM. Take a look at my ideas. http://vincentoneve.wordpress.com/ |

Confirmed. CCP, the mass test today is advertized as "...with particular emphasis on crash fixes to the Mac client". Well that test is in less than 3 hours, and us Mac users got an unusable Sisi client. I am running for the CSM. Take a look at my ideas. http://vincentoneve.wordpress.com/ |

On but unstable
Got on sisi, even though the client update was unsuccessful, however have froze up when opening skill queue, undocking and just logging into space. Not managed more than a couple of minutes without client freezing up and having to force quite. |

Well, i tried again after it seemed to work for you....at least the update.
I got a big fat:
"The server you are connected to does not have a published update"
Then the launcher just sat there staring at me...more like glaring... |

Hi all,
Have a look at the Launcher now. We just published a new update. If the current versions you have do not work, you will need to reinstall the Singularity client because the update mechanism for the Mac itself is bricked. Associate Technical Producer - Core Technology Group |

Launcher v.0.61
Applied update to existing sisi client, froze as soon as skill queue opened. Received the following message upon crash Unhandled page fault on read access to 0xdeadbeef at address 0xdeadbeef. Do you wish to debug it ?
Tried a fresh start, duplicated TQ client and applied generic patch, updated client, go onto game opened skill queue and game froze again. Terminal last message was err:seh:EXC_RtlRaiseException possibly COM stub exception at 0xdeadbeef
No wonder it's not working if it's running of rotting organic flesh.

The crashes ingame has nothing to do with the Launcher and they're being investigated.
If you have more issues with the Launcher itself, please reply to the thread.

Hi,
Any mac users able to connect to sisi (as of 8th march before the next mass test)?
Got a list of exceptions yesterday during update as launcher failed to update client, then said client was ready but eve is just quitting when trying to open it. (full bug report submitted)
With the new launcher due out in 5 days haven't see a stable mac client since the launcher appeared. |

In the thread naught for the devblog announcing the launcher one of the devs replied that Launcher will no longer work for SiSi. I assume to give them a few days to migrate everything over for TQ.
Now, the PC version would launch or patch either client or at least launch them or something like that.
The Mac version obviously was SiSi only, but now I am not even sure if it works at all...
That is why I started a separate thread asking those questions..... |

CCP: The Sisi launcher, even when run with
/Applications/EVE\ Onlinesisi.app/Contents/MacOS/EVE\ Online /server:87.237.38.50
Tries to connect to TQ. What do we do? The mass test is about an hour away as I write this.

Right at the last minute I succeeded in getting on Sisi for the test. It turns out the new client does not pay attention to the info.plist settings as to what folder to use in /library/application support. The sisi client always was using the /library/application support/Eve Online folder there. So it was not seeing the
[AppDefaults\\EVE.exe\\transgaming] "cmdlineadd" = "/server:87.237.38.50"
lines I had edited in.
The solution was to rename the "Eve Online" folder to something else and rename "Eve Onlinesisi" folder to "Eve Online". Then it worked. I am running for the CSM. Take a look at my ideas. http://vincentoneve.wordpress.com/ |

So for the Mac layman like me, does this mean that the new launcher thingy will also connect me to Sisi? In other words, I don't have to go through all this command stuff and all the rest? " I spent most of my money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered." -George Best-á |
