Hi there guys.
I have been toying around with the idea of getting a good part of the CSM candidates and whoever might wanna come, and have an election meeting.
The idea is that the people who turn up can, on turn, ask either general questions for the candidates(Will be answered on turn, each candidate has x minutes) or ask a question to a specific candidate.
EBank rents a teamspeak server which was previously used for a workshop done by Hexxx. It worked out quite well. So that will likely be format.
I realise there's some timezone issues. My idea is to do it in the weekend at around 20-21 GMT for the EU guys and maybe make a panel later for the US guys.
But it is still just an idea im toying with. So im taking the first baby steps here. So is anybody interested in taking part in this, either as as a candidate for the panel or just to figure out who you want to vote for?
Cheers

I would be happy to participate.
It will need a moderator (or two), someone to ask the questions and direct them to the various candidates in turn.

If it would be at the proposed time, I most likely would be able to participate.
As stated already, moderation might be benefitial.

Eh, as far as im aware there is more than 1 winner? Also, what makes you believe that the goons will go in at all? I mean, i can think of 1 goon who has announced his candidacy. Thats about it

I'd be okay with something like that depending on the day, though do remember that using EVE's in game voice chat could also work. |

According to eve-csm.com there are at least 4 Goons on the list: -> Bane Glorious -> Daveydweeb -> Goumindong -> Noghri ViR

Oh, i stand corrected!
But still. My original question still stands. I know at least Benilopax has been arguing that just because goons are... goons in game, they don't have to be the same in an election. Sure, im fairly sure we will see at least 1 goon in CSM(And i appreciate it very much, knowing that the largest alliance in the game will be represented). But theres plenty of more seats to be filled.

The goons and Goonswarm are not an EVE-Online exclusive outfit. They are active across many different MMOGs, and have frequently expressed one goal: to disturb and to destroy, and that not only player experience, but the game platforms themselves.
If I would have choosen to be part of such an organisation ingame, I should not be surprised to be put together in the same basket with the reputation of the organization I belong to. If I don't want to be identified with the goals of my organization, I would not want to be part of it.
So being member of Goonswarm demonstrates a certain set of intentions and goals, which are 100% contradictory to mine. I would be very sceptical if a Goonswarm member tells me differently, and ask why they would stick to such an organisation at all. But I would give them the credit of doubt, and would just wait and see what happens with one or more of them on board.
Having said that, I'm not sure that a Goonswarm member will be elected, but it is very likely. They definitly will not rule out anybody else to be elected to the CSM, and they definitly will not be able to abuse the miniscule powers of the CSM to promote and pursue their nefarious goals on that level, if they are actually going for that. CCP and the other members of the CSM besides them will make that sure.

Goonswarm is in the process of having a democratic primary which will determine who from Goonswarm will be the official candidate, which should be finished by the end of the month. There shouldn't be multiple goons on the CSM.
However, despite how it first appears, Goumindong does not represent Goonswarm and is running as an independent. |

I'd like to participate, but the proposed time is roughly 8am my time - I work till 4am on weekends, so It's unlikely I will attend. If people want to record it or have someone type up the questions I would be happy to answer the questions later though. ----------------------

I will be looking into having another show for the US and aussie players, whom we all love of course!

Sounds like an interesting idea! I'll participate. I would recommend using Eve Voice to verify that the people speaking are who they say they are.

I'm interested, but I do not know if I can participate, because I have a 10 year old soundcard and I'm not sure if I can find a proper mic.
I have a strong dislike for voice communication. IRC or ingame plain text channel would be a lot better for me. ---

Excellent idea. Ill try and see if i can get in touch with the people who usually handle dev chats on IRC and see if we can throw something together, just for CSM.
I'm thinking of April 25th and/or May 2th for these kind of events, around GMT2000 for the EU people and whenever the US people can(Im not sure about the time difference and how to get both east and west coast people on at same time, while still getting the aussie people.
I have a small concern about using eve voice. We are unable to record off eve voice(as far as im aware) without a ton of software. Also, teamspeak means that people can join without having to log into eve.
So keep your eyes on this forum. Once i figure out exact time and place for these things, ill let you guys know.
I hope it will make the whole election a bit more interesting!

I too would prefer such a meeting very much over a voice com meeting. What has been said can much easier be used for quotations and for references, and everything can be easily looked up again directly during the meeting, by just scrolling up.
