Anyone have any information about faction drones? Seeing them in the patch notes for the patch on the 15th makes me quite excited, although not quite enough to sort out a sisi install again.

On sisi its just the "integrated" and "augmented" drones.
On TQ, the varations tab doesnt have it.
Im sure ive seen the BPCs and ive gotten the components from a plex.
I havent seen the actual drone yet, never looked for it though.
So either there adding a new drone, forgot to add the varations tab, or now you can actually build them.
I think its just the varations tab...

They've already been ingame but were just missing from the variation tabs.
They have more HP than t2 drones, same dmg mod but split dmg type (same total dmg).
They "should" be taking advantage of the t2 xxx race drone specialization as it's required to use them (unlike faction guns for example).
They cost a shedload of droneparts to build and aren't realy worth it (compared to how many complex runs you need to do to even build 1!).
Maybe if you're using an ishtar/domi vs guristas they're slightly worth it as Augmented Ogre's have split kinetic/thermal dmg (as opposed to just thermal), giving a fair edge as opposed to normal ogre2's due to guri's lower resistance to kinetic.

How disapointing; I was already aware of the Augmented and Integrated drones, and hadnt realy thought of them as faction drones.
And then there was a recent news artical about the fed navy being undermanned, and having to rely on drones more, and reading the patch notes made one of those hopeful assumptions...

This really had my hopes up since the ones already in game are named drones rather than faction. Either we're missing something or the patch-notes are wrong.

But one should consider if the exsisting t2 drone really need a stronger version, as droneblobs can be rather troublesom as is.

Easy to obtain drones that are as good as T2 ones = bad idea...
Faction ammo has already given noobs the chance to do dps well above there sp level (which imo is wrong)...
Lets not do this again with drones.. training those t2 ogres is a decently long commitment, that many ppl have slugged out.
We dont want Ogre II's becoming the next Void (who the f**k uses that now lol....)

While I don't think that the faction ammo has coused that much damage to balance. I do agree the faction drones shouldn't be abused.
If they are better than Ogre 2, make them expensive as hell.
Or even better "gallente navy Ogre 2" (same skills as Ogre 2)
I wouldn't even mind if they would require gallente drone specialization lvl5. If they would be reasonably good that is.
