Edited by: ITTigerClawIK on 10/04/2008 23:38:59 Well me and a friend of mine were talking about all the recent critisisum of the whole Eve going Titans online in some corners of the EVE universe so we came up with an idea for making Titans a much rarer site on the feild.
this would consist of limiting the number or Titans to the size of an alliance based on corps and corp members giveing access of a single titan to 1 member per 5 corps with members over 20 each up to a alliance maximin of 3 titans so it woudl look somehting like this
Fig A
Corp a 20 Members+ Corp b 20 Members+ Corp c 20 Members+ = 1 Titan Corp d 20 Members+ Corp e 20 Members+
Corp f 20 Members+ Corp g 20 Members+ Corp h 20 Members+ = 1 Titan Corp i 20 Members+ Corp j 20 Members+
Corp k 20 Members+ Corp l 20 Members+ Corp m 20 Members+ = 1 Titan Corp n 20 Members+ Corp o 20 Members+
This would reduce the amount of Titans that coudl be seen in the future as we all know that Titans are being built alot more frequently now and with this inplace it would keep these multi-billion Isk popping machines a rare site as they were intended.
A Single pilot would be designated the role of Titan pilot through the alliance Executer corps CEO if the requirements are met.
the above of course can be revised and lmits and prequisits adjusted.
What would happen to existing Titans and there pilots? Existing pilots during the DT that this would take place would be put inside the POS sheilds of that alliance and Ejected form the respective Titan untill a Person is designated a Titan pilot through corp roles.
If there are all three Titans designated and built would my alliance still be able to build more as spares? Yes you would you may still build as many Titans as you want but only 3 may be active at any given time.
What if one of our Titan pilots leaves the alliance while inside one of our Titans? Then the pilot would imidiately be Ejected from the Titan and the Titan be marked on the overview to all Owner alliance members for retrival.
i would like thoughts and opinions on this idea and some feedback good or bad and Of course as always i am open to very harsh critisisum as long as they are of course constructive with reasoning. |

I think your idea is sound but I'm just curious on some points.
Corps a-e are one alliance, correct? meaning there would only be one Titan per alliance. (But can build spares.) |

no the diagram is is showing that for every 5 corps there are with 20 members in 1 extra titan can be built untill there are 15 corps with 20 members each meaning the full 3 titans even if you had another 5 corps making 20 corps with over 400 members you would not be able ot access another Titan for use

Looks to me like they are all one alliance, separated to show the "per 5 corps" thing.
Sounds good, but... What if the titan pilot paid for his titan with his own money? Then when he leaves he loses his investment?
And what about the poor folks who have been training nothing but titan skills for months, only to find out they may never even get to pilot one.
I see some merit in this, however, I believe the limits could be determined by something else, perhaps being number of titans in a system or region rather than the entire alliance?

But wouldn't that also be a problem? I doubt any alliance would like the idea of stretching their fleet. =] |

very good question indeed ^_^
well i am coming up with something for a person to keep his own Titan ill probs have it some time later tommorow.
as for the people training titan skills im sure that the CEO of the leading corp of the alliance could let pilots switch places with the other this way people who have the Titan are not gunna be stuck int here for the rest of there EVE carrer havieng to create another alt to play for fun
as for the reason i did not go for limiting Titans in a system is mainly as there could be multiple alliance trying to get into a system and all the slots being taken by another alliance who put them in and of course from the RP perspective (sorry 0.0 guys ) is how would you really limit it unless there is Concord to make sure you dont move one more than is supposed to into the system. but thats just my reason for not going with that idea
but thank you for your feedback on the whole thing

Far too easy to circumvent. A handful of alts from a few members accounts left in artificial holding corps with Titan pilots.
Your idea encourages metagaming to get around arbitrary rules and is easy for big alliances to ignore while at the same time making things a smidgen harder for smaller groups. (not that tiny, less then 20 pilot alliances are likely to have a titan, but its still an issue)
Also, not sure this is an issue that needs fixing in this way. |

It needs fixing alright (from what I hear, I've never seen a titan mind you). Being able to just doomsday a fleet to dust with 5+ titans needs uber-fixing.

I do see your point for the alt accounts and such that is of course a problem though im sure not everyone would be that sad to actully do this though of course there are those people who would
as for the smaller groups not being able to get a Titan, as i have siad in the iriginal post the limitations can be reduced in verius ways and some rules adjusted
thank you for your feed back though ^_^ |

Titan need fixing badly. But your suggestion is not a fix in any way, it just encourages metagaming and game rule abusing/avoiding. ==============================================

I've just spotted another potential problem. Titans would simply become disposable. There would be numerous "spare" titans, causing them to be deployed recklessly. |

Problem is not the amount of titans each alliance holds, but number of titans on a grid. One titan on a grid (maybe in system?) was not a problem, just extremely hard to kill if it was escorted. But 6 or 8 titans doing their DD disco is just silly.... so limiting number of titans you can bring to a fight (or to a system) will stop the titan-blob-i-win-button. The problem then becomes how to decide which titan is allowed into a system, as non-jammed system with titan inside (if 1 was the limit) would be unreachable to other alliances. Not a major problem because titan can and has been killed several times, but it still has a hint of unfairness incorporated.
It's a tricky situation to consider, but total number of titans allowed on grid/system will IMHO have to change. Or DD mechanics will have to change, possibli rendering titans into a huge metal paperweights.

How about we just ditch the win buttons.
Titans suck. Titan pilots suck even more.
Alliances that use Titans to prop themselves up suck eve more etc...
Look this guy killed a Titan in a shuttle.

[Yes I am sure it was someone having a laugh].
But Titans still suck.

Titans may be a pain to ppl without the willingness to build there own or use a capital fleet. But its the best anti-zerg tool in EVE so unless ccp replace it with something else it is invaluable.
Build your own titan, build a good capital fleet, then go kill other ppls titans and cap fleets, or stfu pls these threads are getting boring.

How would you bring a cap fleet to fight in a system housing the win buttons when they hold SOV 3 and the full cyno jamming package? You can't.
You would have to go in an BS fleet to take out the cyno jammer AND THEN get minced by a sequence of DD's from mutiple Titans and get mopped up by a support fleet.
The win button is crap and Alliances that rely on them suck.

Maybe you should ask BOB how they did it in QY6.
But tbh your argument seems to be about cyno jammers not titans cos jammers promote zerging while titans prevent it.

Yea, it was really hard. Took 17 minutes with no losses and we got doomsday'd.
The argument is not that Titans suck but that Bob knows how to defend using Titans and that sucks.
Goon alts need to try harder both in-gamne and in "Titans Suck" threads. |

no, this would just create 10 alliances that didn't shoot each other, all with 15*20 player corps, all having 3 titans = 30 titans and still within the rules I declare war on stupidity |

OP's scheme won't work. "Rogue" titans owned by individuals not in the alliance circumvents the scheme rather effectively. I can have an alt sit out of the alliance and use the titan as needed for the alliance, without even having to be in the alliance. There's little point in having no. of titans limited to the size of the alliance, unless CCP is willing to change the mechanics so that titans can only be built and owned by alliances only.
1. A more flexible scheme would be to add the factor of "maintenance" to titans. Be it in the form of ISK charged monthlies or requiring any number of variation of POS style fuels in order for it to be operational i.e. for its modules to be active. To avoid quick activation abuse, just do it ala POS style. This makes titans costly to run (without purpose) and this alone ought to limit alliances from rubber stamping titans out of their production lines just for the sheer number. It forces them to evaluate keeping a large titan force as deterrent VS using their resources (spent on titan maintenance) for other important things.
2. Titan doomsday weapon has little EFFECTIVE counter as of yet. Triple/quadruple/quintuple DD is an effective (sick) tactic that wipes the floor clean. An idea I'm throwing : - introduce a new titan class shield that can protect whole fleets against titan DDs. Only titans can deploy this shield. If they carry the shield, they won't be able to fit an DD weapon. Fleet ships within the shield radius ought to be "almost" immune to DD fire but any standard weapons fire will pass through without being reduced. - introduce a new anti-titan energy blast weapon. Same as before, the new anti-titan energy weapon replaces either the DD or shield as an option. It'll take several minutes to charge the weapon for firing for each cycle, but when it hits the enemy titan, it'll do massive damage. Weapon ought to be useless against fleet ships as it's too big to aim onto small ships. I don't think it really affects normal fleet balance, but rather introduces more variations into counter tactics for multiple DDs "Iwin" tactics. Carry a shield, you get to protect a certain number of fleet ships and makes your task force extrememly DD resistant but you're useless in an offensive role. Carry an anti-titan weapon, you can kill titans but leaves your back open to fleet ships to stab. Carry a DD, you can kill whole fleets just as long as as they don't have a shield titan OR they don't deploy any anti-titan weapon :) Good balance? |

First, it's a fake killmail.
Second, the killmail system takes the ship you are in when the mail is generated, not the ship you fought in (though they are usually the same). This is why you sometimes see pods that did 20,000 damage on killmails. If one was popped and then grabbed a shuttle, it might end up on the killmail. -------------------- ICE Blueprint Sales FIRST!! -Yipsilanti Pfft. Never such a thing as a "last chance". ;) -Rauth |

some quick maths:
bruce: about 3500 pilots, so if they would jump into 20 man corps they would be able to get 3500/20=175 then 175/5= 35 titans
sounds very much like titan online to me
