Not quite sure what a "vanguard" setup refers to, but to get them hitting the same optimal, use the relationship:
(Base optimal, laser 1)*(Crystal's range multiplier 1) = (Base optimal, laser 2)*(Crystal's range multiplier 2)
Back of the envelope example here, say you have focused medium pulses w/ an optimal of 11km, and the heavy pulses with 12km. Now, say you're trying to get an optimal of 18km, for whatever reason, the formula becomes:
(11km)*X = (12km)*Y = 18km
Which implies X = 1.64 and Y = 1.5, or in terms of percent increases X = 64% and Y = 50%. This means to match ranges near 18km, you'll need Radio M for the focused pulses (a range bonus of 60%), and either Microwave M or Radio M for the heavies (40% and 60%, respectively).
As for syncing the time up between the two guns so that they always fire at the same time, not possible. One gun will inherently fire faster than the other type, and anything you can do to speed up one will affect the other. |

You could try using EFT so you can do it without buying the crystals...
The other way : -Open the calculator ingame -Open the fitting screen -Remove the crystals from the lasers -Right click and show info on the lasers -Open the market, go in the ammunition, crystals and look the types available in standard crystals. Crystals go from -50% (multifrequency) to +60% range (radio). -Play with the calculator with range bonuses on the optimal range shown to find some that will match.
And the way without a calculator : Buy some of all crystals, fit and unfit and check ranges. |

Exactly, spcifically Amarr has that problem due to having a very low falloff. Keep to one gunsize and adapt your tactics accordingly, both from a range as a tracking point of view. |

True in general, but there are exceptions. Some ships fit a rack of the weakest gun type for tank, and find they can upgrade some highslots to more powerful guns, resulting in (for blasters) an example of an electron/ion blaster mix.
One should definitely not mix short-range vs. long-range guns, or sizes, but this is sort of acceptable if he actually knows what he wants in the ship. |

Try fitting 4x focused medium pulses instead :)

Yes, they do. However it is nigh on impossible to fit 5 turrets and have any CPU/PG left over for anything else, including a tank, cap boosters, etc unless your fitting skills are insane. Even then you'll probably need at least one co-processor or power diagnostic unit.
So really it's just not practical to fit 5 turrets at the moment. Hopefully the Omen will get a CPU/PG boost in the future to address this.
