I kind of regret choosing gallente, not for the ships, they're all good I know, It's just that I can't stand the looks. A friend of mine told me getting minmatar as secondary, or maybe train it above my gallente skills, but...
Amarr ships just look too cool!
Specially T2. I've been told they're underpowered right now, but that might change, and I won't die without piloting a curse and a malediction some day.
Is it a bad idea anyway? Or should I give it a try?
Are Amarr BC and BS at the level of Minmatar?
Just help me decide between those 2 races, please ^^ If you can write some pros and cons it will help a lot.

Harbinger is said to be the best BC around and the Armageddon is cheap and wtfpwnage even without tech2 mods and just gets better with tech2. They have their problems but it will be fixed, I think.
Minmatar you get Vagabond and Rapier which are awesome ships untill nanofagging gets nerfbat.
Nanoishtar is an option too and you can use gallente skills there.

What about Curse and Malediction? Those are, for me, the best looking ships ever, and I want to be sure they're useful too. Are they?

Curse should be OK if used properly but it's been banstickwtfpwnd with the NOS nerf which destroyed it and the nos domi and a few more ships.
And malediction, no idea.

Edited by: Illaria on 12/04/2008 15:14:55 Edited by: Illaria on 12/04/2008 15:14:06 Welcome to the club of Amarr lovers.
I started out as Gallente and switched to Amarr too, for aesthetic reasons (Amarr really have the best looking Ships overall) as well as for gameplay considerations (lasers not requiring ammo, are great for POS shooting duty as well as laggy situations when reloading may take forever).
Amarr have probably the best fleet sniper right now with the Apocalypse BS, and as BS snipers are the staple of every fleet you'd be more than welcome by any FC. Minmatar BS are not considered as highly as Amarr in fleet situations, because large artillery is a bit problematic.
When it comes to HACs and Recons everyone seems to fly a Vagabond or Ishtar, respectively a Rapier nowadays, so strictly from an efficiency point of view you'd be better off cross training into Minmatar cruisers.
Regarding Interceptors the best one would be probably the Caldari Crow, but I see people using almost every kind of Interceptor except the Gallente ones. So you'd be fine with Amarr Interceptors.
You should also consider that you might want to train for capital ships later on, and Amarr provides with the Revelation perhaps the best Dread available and certainly the most mean looking.
In the end I'd really go with what gives you the most pleasure. It doesn't make sense to min max for a certain ship type if you can't stand looking at it. You'd have less enjoyment in the end. Whether you cross train into Amarr or Minmatar you'll find your place in a fleet with either race.

crosstraining amarr gives you the bonus of needing armor tanks and pure gunnery skills for both: minmatar would require some shield tanks and some missile skills.
I personally would say amarr, just because I am amarr and their ships are awesome.

Ok, amarr is the way to go :D
Thanks to everyone who helped.
I'd like to get a specific view on cruisers thou, amarr vs minmatar.
And.. Is Curse really that bad now? I love the ship concept and looks.
Thanks again

Edited by: Dirk Magnum on 12/04/2008 20:28:16 Minmatar are the most skill-intensive race to train up effectively, since different Minmatar ships incorporate key elements from all three of the other races (shield tank, armor tank, drones, missiles, etc.) If you train up Minmatar well, then you'll be in a position to easily transition to any of the other race's ships, more or less. That's what I've found anyway.

Edited by: Zeba on 12/04/2008 20:59:19 Since your already trained for Gallente then Amarr would let you reuse most of your already trained support skills. Even a competently T1 fitted Gankageddon with 5 Ogre I is a mighty mean machine solo or in a gang and once its T2 fitted well heheheheh... Arbitrator, Curse and Zealot are at the top of thier class for cruisers too.
Lots of very good Amarr ships so don't let the whiners sway your decision.

<-- Most whacked skill plan in the world. Eh actually no skill plan at ALL, tbh.
Mining and Indy and transpo skills all up pretty high.
Got all the usual Cald missile and shield stuff, then decided I needed a Rattlesnake which means: Gal frig 4, Gal cruiser 4 and BS 1.
Now I'm thinking hmmm, I'd like to try the Domi so I need better drone skills.
Oh and the Apoc got buffed, or everyone else got screwed which was a sort of off-the-cuff buff for it, so I'd like to try and see what I can do with that too. Hmm, I guess I need armor (yech) and lazorz skills too...
It's never ending, but I can fly an insane amount of ships, some of them even fairly well. |

QFT. Between my numerous accounts I can fly every ship in the game sans cap ships and that just months away. |

Amarr and their ships smell funny.
Gallente ships looks the best, IMO. I purely fly Gallente, but if I picked another race's ships to learn, it'd most likely be Minmatar, because Minmatar are cool, and their ships are fast (but not much to look at, honestly).

Don't let someone talk you into choosing a race just because ships might kinda be 1% better than another IMO.
If you like Amarr looks give it a shot. I know the Harbinger is a wrecking ball with the proper skills. |

But she is right. If you have a lot of money, crosstraining to Minmatar gives you a choice of some of the best Tech 2 Ships around. If you have a lot of ISK, then both Serpentis and Angel ships become available to you. |

I believe Gallente/Amarr and Caldari/Minmatar are the only combinations not covered (yet).
