hello guys.
dunnow if this the right place for it but here it goes. Since the last trinity patch it seems harder and harder to lock people jumping gates.
i do this everyday, being part of a merc corp, and me and my corp mates are all experiencing this.
we find it's really difficult to target lock any ship unless it's of a bigger size than the one we are flying.
even then, sometimes even our frigates sometimes miss the target because of the constant "target is invulnerable message". i spent about one hour yesterday trying to target ship jumping out of OXXXX to see how many i could lock in time, flying a sacrilege.
frigates, almost all cruser and a few haulers were all constantly unlockable until they much warped.
replicating this "issue" is fairly straightforward, just need a corpmate jumping a gate where you are sitting on and trying to warp away as quickly as he can with "normal" fittings using different races.
petitioned the issue to ccp, we got the usual answer.
but the issue doesn't change: before trinity we had a much higher rate of success in targeting smaller ships of the same size trying to warp away.
if a sensor boosted devoter misses 3 haulers in a row, it can be all right. maybe we need to start fitting loads more modules to increase the screen resolution even further even thou it is at our tank expenses? having a dedicated tackler HIC setup just to get the one point flying with the gang is not always possible.
anybody else experiencing this? anybody else investigating it?

This has been posted about repeatedly so you are not alone. It's got something to do with the session change and internal server lag. Basically the targets warping into or jumping into your position will sometimes show up on your client before the server has fully recognized that they are there so you can't target them for a few seconds. In other words, your client sees them as a viable target, but the server has to catch up and until it does it's invulnerable. This few second pause is often more than enough time for someone to jump, warp, or dock.
It's annoying, particularly for 'Ceptor pilots and other tacklers, and it seems to have gotten much worse since the Trinity patch. -------------------- "I am hard pressed on my right; my centre is giving way; situation excellent; I am attacking." - Ferdinand Foch at the Battle of the Marne |
