As a developer, I cannot understand why our settings need to be reset everytime you patch? I back this up and restore my settings without issue. Would it be possible too fix your installer so it does not clear those settings? Or maybe an advanced install option that wipes settings only if you have problems?

use /END /LUA:OFF, that at least reduces the chance of setting loss. Lost mine in the last 2 patches but didn't this time

/END /LUA:OFF was actually deprecated a patch ago and no longer works. What you did this patch, was hit "Exit Patch" instead of "Launch Eve Online"
I've noticed that every time I launch Eve from the autopatcher, all settings go *POOF* - i haven't had deletion problems with my settings since I started closing the patch program and starting eve normally. -- My Sig got pwnt by Cortes :( |

I use this as I quad box. No help. I just mad because i forgot to back up client 1. Clients 2-4 I was able to sorta save.

I had to make a post about this on game development too, they really need to rethink their patching program and "consider" that hey perhaps many of us run multiple clients?
Shows how much consideration CCP gives to us, their customers
How about a total cache save/restore, sure it'd be a big file but if we can run 2-4 clients I'd expect our rigs to have a bit of extra HDD space...

It's probably a combination of things including bad programming. In this case however it's more of a mystery because neither of my machines has lost their settings.

I have tested this and it is true. Click Finish and NOT Launch and your settings are golden.

Not true - or at least not the cause. I always click 'Launch'.
Hmmm.
I have a thought - could it be because some of you are running as 'Administrator'? I've seen this behaviour before where an installation process only changes settings specific to the account running it. I never run as 'Administrator' normally (it's a bad idea) so it will have no settings to clear (they are on a different account).
There are some wacky things that can happen with Windows accounts handling and it could easily be the cause. Vista made it even more confusing with further twists curtesy of SP1. We spent a couple of days fighting that particular fire a couple of months ago -- (Sarcastic mission running veteran, 4+ years)

I think one reason why the settings are deleted is that they won't cause any problems. I'm not sure how they are saved, but I presume the format might change between patches.
