i don't get this...5 warrior II of wich 2 orbit super fast and far away and miss every shot on a webbed sleeper battleship the other 3 drones are orbiting slow and close and hit every shot
is this something to do with fallof negatif bonus from the phenomenon that only 2 drones are effected or is this a bug? |

Drones have been bugged since the beginning of the game, some times better, some times worse but always a problem. Instead of fixing drones they chose it would be a whole lot better to put focus on WOD, DUST and NEX. Drones are only a vital pat of fighting in spaceships so it's not like it's anything important. Excuses are the refuge of the weak. |

Mostly, drones have a few latency issues when MWDing towards small targets. They like to orbit spider drones with MWD on because they overshoot, determine they're too far for normal orbit, keep MWD active and try to burn back into range - promptly overshooting again.
This could lead to a lot of hilarity when scoop range was still 1500m and small ships couldn't scoop them, ever, because they kept overshooting scoop range and kept their MWD on - until scoop range got extended to 2500m.
Too bad target orbit range didn't get adjusted at the same time!
Anyhow, the workaround back then and today is the same: Send them somewhere else, then repeat the original command.
With a bit of luck they'll get it right in one of the next two or five attempts.
Getting your drones to do what you want them to do is good training to become a successful parent. |

My momma always said, "Drones are like a box of chocolates: You never know what you're gonna get."

Does increasing Drone Sharpshooting skill minimize this problem (or fix it completely)? Conversely - Drone Navigation make it worse?

I never noticed this... CCP should patch in some new orbit ranges for light drones, it sounds like the solution is that simple. |

Drones are always fun, if not a little stubborn sometimes. If they forget whos boss just have them kill one of the group as an example. |

It's been this way for a few years. Don't web targets you put drones on if they are frigate sized targets. You can actually make your drones hit more often/harder if you web then un-web your target as it seems the tracking on drones sucks for how fast they travel. Once the target starts to pull ahead of your drones they start to hit more until the target is out of optimal because the angular velocity of the target is much lower as it starts to pull away. If the drones are able to orbit the target, they can't hit it when it's a smaller ship due to the speed at which they orbit unfortunately. They should just remove tracking considerations in how a drone hits really, it should just hit regardless, with varying degrees of damage. Tracking shouldn't be an issue because the drone itself will always cause it's own tracking issues.
I would love to see a response from a dev though on the issue just to know how the mechanics actually do work on the backend for drone accuracy and how webs affect that. |

maybe thats true about hitting harder but my drones shouldn't miss a webbed battleship, this is just crappy programming where something don't get registered on a slow connection |

Well, if it weren't for all the effort being put into other problems, some programmer in CCP could create several 'flight paths' for drones, depending on the situation.
Like in this example, where lights drones like Warrior IIs constantly overshoot targets and never turn off their MWDs, they should not orbit but do attack runs. Flight straight towards the target, fire, fly past it a little, turn around, and repeat.
Put atlast the instead decide to give us WOD, Dust, and Incarna. |

All of this is assuming the drones even stay on target in the first place. I consistently have drones while set to focus fire and aggressive split up onto different targets. I have drones when set to aggressive go idle during an attack for no reason. I have drones when set to passive have 3 out of the 5 drones stop attacking and return and orbit leaving only 2 on target. Drones are utterly broken and it's pretty lame that CCP hasn't once admitted to it. |
