Another big step has been taken to introduce a democratic structure to EVE, our applicants for Council of Stellar Management (CSM) has now become candidates. Xhagen, the developer in charge of this, has written a nice Dev Blog where he presents some statistics on the applications and the dates for the election. |

5000 members / 6 candidates = 800 votes per candidate. They won't win anything with those numbers, honestly.

Candidates were asked to supply a text of "up to 100 words" yet is clear that some (Mark Jenkins, Andrew Cruse, Niall Dologhan, for example) have far exceeded this. Do you propose to reduce their text to the limit set, and/or permit the opportunity for others who kept to the limit to now increase their submission?
Also, some of the links are wrong as an additional '/' has been added at the end which apepars to break some of them.
Otherwise, great to see so many candidates!

This must mean goumindong has been removed (fired?) from Goonswarm... if not, he is still a goon... and so counts...

You can, of course, vote for any of the candidates listed. Just because there are 6 members of one alliance standing, this does not mean they will get onto the Council. Smarter players will pick open, honest and impartial representatives to put forward their views at council meetings.
Luckily, I see at least 20 such candidates for you to vote for.... |

Interesting that the blog points out the gender ratio of the candidates. I wonder if this will be a factor in the election process? Will more people vote for a female candidate because she is female or less? Or will people 'vote the issues' and ignore gender? History would suggest otherwise... |

Well thank you sir for this glowing reccomendation! I think that those of you who are basing your judgments merely on the alliance tickers of the candidates are doing yourself a disfavor. You owe it to yourself to take the time to get to know the candidates prior to passing judgement. I'd also recommend that you take the time to read the CSM document or the cliffnotes which I have written which I will paste onto my site.
The CSM isn't territorial welfare nor does the model lend itself well to abuse by individual powers. It is a council being built to represent the concerns of all eve players and to present those concerns directly to CCP. Your vote should be cast for people you feel are best able to frame those concerns and who you feel will advocate for them best. I think that you'll find Goons as well as many other alliance have a wonderful talent pool of people who are intelligent, articulate, passionate and capable of delivering on the promise of the CSM. If nothing else I'd say organizing a group of 5000 people is quite a difficult task and should rate highly on the resume of someone you were considering casting your vote for in this position. http://www.griefgaming.com/images/darius_sig.jpg

Of course, impartiality and honesty are also important things to look for in a candidate. After all, eloquent speeches and flashy websites are easy to construct to get onto the Council...trusting a candidate to represent various viewpoints is another matter entirely. |

To render trust to the candidate is a business of the voter on elections. But the one who cleans objectionable candidates, that takes away the option from people. Any should have the right to stand. And whom to select - solves people. |

The very fact that you're in goons, and goonfleet at that, says enough about who you are, where you're from, and what you want.
According to your own forums: grief and suffering for all non-goons.
I'm getting happier at knowing that this CSM is a paper tiger. As it won't allow the goons to screw the rest of us too badly. |

I AM truly independant...and my sex is irrelevant to the task of representing player issues on the CSM! Good play of the 'female' card though ;)
