Does anybody know of a program which means I can bind all my F1-F7 keys to one key e.g. Mouse3. I was told by quite a few people this is allowed - Im guessing they are right. |

Unless a GM comes in and says its O.K. the only known way to make this work is with a keyboard that will produce the macro in hardware[g15 is a popular choice] |

The Devs have said that HARDWARE like the G15 is legal, anything else they frown on and reserve ban rights |

Frankly i would like a GM to come in and say that publicly[or have a petition answered] before working such an action. |

I just petitioned and they said it was okay. "As long as this program doesn't modify the client and just records keys pressed like the G15 Keyboard, you may use this." They said that pretty much. |

It is when you start having the macro perform repeated scripted events, like say, moving ore from your hold to a can every 3 minutes, that the ban stick comes out.
Using a program like autoit to make a hotkey to press f1-f8 with 1 keystroke is the same as programming one of the keys on the g15 keyboard.
Just don't get stupid and build a script to play the game for you and you will be fine. |

You're doing it all wrong, amateur.....
Step 1. Lay your head on the keyboard. Step 2. Slam head up and down on keyboard. Step 3. Roll face on keyboard. Step 4. ??? Step 5. Profit!

A g15 cost around 75-100 USD, autohotkey and autoit (and any number of other macro/scripting programs) are free to download... being able to use this functionality should not be limited to only those able to afford an expensive peripheral. -=^=-

I looked into this for you, I'd prefer it for a lead GM to clarify the situation but as far as I can make out as long as this program doesn't modify the client directly and basically just records keys pressed like the G15 Keyboard, you may use this. However, keep in mind that we may review this policy at any time as necessary. Mitnal, Community Representative

But yeah, if I had a G15 I would imagine I'd macro it :3

could you please check if this option is legal.
there is a option with the .net framework where you can configure a keyboard layout. like the 101 int. layout or german layout. and if you have a keyboard config like that you can select it in the same way you select the 101 int. key config.
these layouts are all configured by a tool that comes with the .net framework of ms. with this tool you can create difrend keys on your keyboard. i did this with l33tsp34k . change the letters to numbers. if you type blind this goes pritty damn fast. theres also the option to create keys that are build up of more then 1 key. for instance alt+142 witch makes some sign.
with his option you can make your f1 key do the folowing : f1+f2+f3+f4+f5+f6+f7+f8
i would view this all as a keyboard config witch is 100% suported by microsoft. and if the G15 keyboard just does this by hardware.
but this kinda tricks starts to look like macros where in other games like Q3 you would have auto change gun under a fire key. this was clearly macro actions in Q3. and in Q3 this was legal and they even suported it with config options of the keyboard in the game.
gm should know if this is legal in eve. theres no way of checking for it anyway.
but advice. i would keep it original. you lose control of specific instructions.
if you ask me your just lazy :) --- Somebody needs a hug! |

Just sending all f1+...+f8 keys at the same time to client does not work. It ignores most of them so whatever you do you would need tool that allows small pauses between sending keystrokes.
Some fancier gaming mouses btw have this option. I have myself Logitech G5 and tought I could do it within mouse drives, but have not managed to pull it off (it leaves no pauses between keystrokes). So now I have shield booster and reload-all under my mouse wheel and have to still push the damn F keys to shoot.

if this is true then my option just have been made usless. the microsoft tool is only to change the keyboard layout and not to add delays.
i wonder then where line just went betewan hardware and software when logitec hardware can add delays and start to look like a macro.
but i think when i press f1 to f8 manualy eve wills till take it :P i think there might be something wrong with the logitec then.

But you can only press so many keys at a time on a keyboard before it stops reading new keys pressed :( __________________

No no no the G15 can do F1-F8 go to edit marco and ckeck ON the "Record delays between events" option then do F1-F8 and then right click on the times and you can edit how long the pause is so that the game will regignise it. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ ADHD + Dyslexia = BAD SPELLING Proud to be in the FNA (for over a year) and not be a alt!

The latest Microsoft mouse driver has macro functionality. You program F1-F8 to a mouse button using just MS driver you happen to have a Microsoft mouse model supported by the new driver.
Some other mice drivers have the same functionality, for example Logitech G9 can do it. |
