Lately ive noticed that some of my sentry drones moved whne they were engaging, ive filed a petition about it but it didnt yield anything usefull. So i want to ask if its normal that sentry drones move when engaging? and if its not if anyone else has it? and how it could be caused?

They behave like any drone told to engage, they move toward the target and fire ones in range. The difference is that sentrydrones have a max velocity of like 1 m/s. In before 'Coming in hot". |

Sentry drones should be completely imobile. The only pertinent reason they might appear to move would be lag/desynchronisation when you launch them, only to get a position correction when they start shooting their first target. If they move again after that first salvo, there's something seriously wrong.

Sentry drones, both T1 and T2, have a Max Velocity of 0 m/s. Skills add 25%, but even then, 0+25% is still 0 m/s. So if they have moved, either someone bumped them or you got desynced or someone's been messing with the code and created a bug...

when you think about it sentry drones really ought to have a movement speed of a metre or two per second just for station keeping purposes.

Or they're doing it just to frack with your head. You turn around, they move 1m closer, and giggle amongst themselves.

Actualy they do move. I'd done a hour long pos assault using them and by the time we were done they had moved about 5km forwards.

Edited by: Alski on 25/04/2008 16:15:51 They do move, very very slowly, somewhere around =<5m/s if you wait very patiently you can order them to return to ship and they will make there way back.
iirc they were changed sometime around revelations patch, its pritty useless though, as even being slightley bumped by anouther ship will put them 5 minutes or so out of reach, its quicker to go fetch them even in a Carrier.
For seiged dreadnaughts however, i hear it can be usefull.
